    S Ramaswamy

Naan nandri solvEn by PS MSV humming along
from Kuzhandaiyum Deivamum (1965) MSV composed

catchy crafted song, a melodious blend of music and poetic lyrics, singers giving life to
slowly builds up a passion from the intro's humming ,
lite piano notes and the gradual addition of instruments,
virundhu vaithaai at the song's end, which nest back into previous notes.

rare occasion to hear MSV 's voice for Jai

recorded one is different from the movie version ,as you know

    became

    kannadasan wrote this right ?
    you might have noticed the non-matching -lip-syncing visual-to-lyrics ,
Thanks to the overplayed iron hands of the censorship board of bias

:double take: Who knew I was asking such a loaded question...
Thanks a ton TFMLover!! (that i get to use alliteration...yet another is in order!)Your discoveries are much appreciated!

It's the KBS version that I have heard, sailing through life such a powerful metaphor?...for a pleasure boating or motion sickness?...

    tfml,

Kuzhandaiyum deivamum gunathal was the only song by KD.

NAan nandri solven was by Vaali.

for both i guess Querida ,depending on how you row
vaazhkkaiyenum Odam vazhangugindra paadam...use of sailing as a metaphor
plainly from a cultural discourse ,i'll say
the song is from Poombuhar , based on silapadhigaaram ,tamil jain epic
    R.Sudarsanam composed Karunanidhi lines
hero kOvalan down the crooked path of adultery
leading to all sorts of troubled navigation ,scuppering life
drifting away from his wife ,one maadhavi within the compass of prostitution
forcing to set sail for , he refuses
gradually taking his wind out of his sails hence ,nasty waves were afloat
close to the wind ,that maadhavi rocking the boat , wind changes again but
no point it is too late to batten down the hatches
finally, burning his entire boat and returning back to his pathini wife kannagi
her anchoring was all he needed
sailing through life vaazhkkaiyenum Odam vazhangugindra paadam
is without doubt one of the most powerful metaphor
illustrating this basic epic , seems to resonate well right

you really ticked my funny bones too
pleasure boating thaan at the beginning ..
kOvalan having a bite on the side 'motion
    maadhaviku thaan morning 'sickness aachaam

    have fun
    Regards

Beautiful Water Effect TFMLover, Lotus just the right touch

Was a real enjoyment, reading your juxtaposition of "Vazhkai Oru Odam" song and Silappadhikaram Epic, I know of it yes (actually did not know it was Jain)....was too good, a nautical delight!!
I enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek moments esp. with Madhavi rocking the boat )

What a shame! Seriously you can find all the other songs easily enough but this delightful piece is all but lost...
For many a amateur we know only what is made available but why was this song gone missing? It lacks only a chance to be heard...it is one thing to be eclipsed by the more popular songs but gone missing altogether!?! Time, you are indeed an opiate but what sweetness do you cause to fade as well?
