Bala,
Was talking with a friend about the same thing. He was surprised that I didn't know a song in a Ramarajan movie and I was shocked that he had not heard much of Raja's Malayalam works of 80s. Infact in a conversation with rajasaranam, we concluded that we will analyze Raja in various ways and then someone will come up with one more point of view, which will also be apt. As Plum said earlier, whichever way you cut him, he is a diamond!!! And yes, the discovery is just endless.

When I was a little one I use to sing along to the "Oh!" part in "Enathu Vizhi"...meaning I was pretty much oh'ing a little too early or a little too late and way more than I needed to
I love the flute/violin combo in MV's song, his voice is so cheeky

I really appreciate Mano's ventures into melodic numbers, he always seems to get them be signature hits
what readily comes to mind is his intensely addictive "Adho Mega Oorvalam"
superb use of violin in this number...
IR is irresistible
even with a song like this...the bgm is simply exquisite, folk yes but with a hidden treasure of classic in it.
Thanks alot Querida ... Songs such as these brings back alot of fond child hood memories

Can't come out of ASK title score. Beautiful Coda passage at the end (just as at the start). Just in 2 1/2 minutes Maestro is trying to convey so many things, but first trying to get out of emotional content, which itself is a daunting task. Through this score Maestro is telling to focus on your heart's deepest desire.

Listening to this gem from 'Kelviyum Naane Bhadilum Naane'. Never heard this before. My friend was shocked when I told him that I didn't know about this song. He promptly sent it to me. What superb piano based interludes. Lovely tune. In a loop now.

To me, that was the best period of IR - the early 80's - lot of energy, enthu, frequent releases, all kinds of movies, decent competition as well (MSV got many hits and big banner movies, S-G had hits regardless of whether they were copied or not, TR's songs heard everwhere, even GA had big hits like vAzhvE mAyam but IR reigned at the top).
And my college days

Right now totally captivated by this awesome number Bulbul Bulbul Myne - Sandhyakku Virinja Poovu
The guitar in this song is simply bril..The 2nd interlude takes you to another planet esp from 2:38 to 2:46 where he travels across 2 octaves - heavenly

Today accidentally I saw one singer performed in Idea Star Singer for the Song "Om Sivaohm" from Naan Kadavul. She had done excellent job and few weeks back, she had done wonderful performance of some Arabic Song, This program made me to refresh Naan Kadavul songs in my Memory but started to listening in loop........... orchestration is mesmerizing me..
