புதிய பறவை வெளியான பின் 51 நாட்களில் நவராத்திரி படம் துவக்கப்பட்டது போல தோற்றமளிக்கிறது உங்கள் பதிவு. உண்மையில் 1963-ல் 'குலமகள் ராதை' வெளியான கையோடு நவராத்திரி தயாரிக்கத் துவங்கப்பட்டு விட்டது.

ஒரே நேரத்தில் அன்னை இல்லம், நவராத்திரி, கர்ணன், பச்சை விளக்கு, ஆண்டவன் கட்டளை, கை கொடுத்த தெய்வம், புதிய பறவை ஆகியவை தயாரிப்பில் இருந்தன. காலையில் ஒரு படம் ஷூட்டிங் போனால், மதியம் இன்னொரு படம் ஷூட்டிங் போவார். சிலநேரங்களில் ரிலீஸ் தேதி நெருங்கிவிட்டால் மூன்று ஷிப்ட்கள் கூட வேலை செய்திருக்கிறார். ஆனால் இங்கு மற்றவர்கள் சொன்னது போல, சரியாக அந்தந்தப் பாத்திரங்களில் நுழைந்துகொள்வார். ஒவ்வொன்றும் ஒன்றுக்கொன்று எவ்வளவு வித்தியாசமான பாத்திரங்கள். கர்ணன் வெளியாகி சிலநாட்களில் இன்னொரு வித்தியாசமான ரோலாக 'முரடன் முத்து' துவங்கப்பட்டு விட்டது.

அதுவும் அப்படங்களை இயக்கியவர்கள் எப்பேற்பட்ட இயக்குனர்கள் என்று பாருங்கள். பி.மாதவன், ஏ.பி.நாகராஜன், பி.ஆர்.பந்துலு, ஏ.பீம்சிங், கே.சங்கர், கே.எஸ்.கோபால கிருஷ்ணன் மற்றும் தாதா மிராஸி. ஒரே சமயத்தில் இத்தனை ஜாம்பவான்களோடு பணியாற்றும் இப்படிப்பட்ட வாய்ப்பு வேறு எந்த கதாநாயகனுக்கும் கிடைத்திருக்காது.

ஒரே நேரத்தில் பல படங்களின் படப் பிடிப்பு நடந்து வந்தது - ஒரு படம் முடிந்த பின்பு தான் அடுத்த படம் என்ற நிலை அப்போது இல்லை என்பது சரியே.

48 நாட்களுக்கு ஒரு படம் வெளியாகும்போது Home work , கேரக்டர் ஸ்டடி , ஷூட்டிங் எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் சேர்த்து கிடைக்கும் சராசரி கால அவகாசம் மிகக் குறைவாக இருக்கும் என்பதுதான் நான் சொல்ல வந்தது.

Playing thavil for manorama's nadhaswaram, that casual gait in playing, all the while smilingly tolerating Jil jil's abaswaram, and in one movement, raising his hands in mirthful resignation saying "aiyaoyo jillu enakku nayanamE maRandhudum pOlirukku". If ever I fell in love with a man, it will be this man. And that coming from a homophobe.

One of the rare - if not the only ever - occurences of Manorama ACTUALlY being endearing on screen

The problem with Sivaji movies is - with due respect - when he is not on screen, even if the others they try their best, they are about a million light years off his standard. This makes the movie inconsistent and therefore, frustrating, in the bigger picture. Even a wholesomely delightful Thillana M is not an exception. With the exception of Nagesh, absolutely no one is capable of holding a frame together in NT's absence. Some of them manage to give a good supporting act in his presence but when he is not there, a disconcerting fall in the standards.

I think it applies many other films, but this. Here, you can let go of NT, and still enjoy the other minor characters, but I guess it's the script, and the characters (novel based illa?). Where's PR when you need him.

The train scene is classic!!! Mention this film, I remember the train scene. The ensemble cast, everyone in single frame!

true....... even in scenes involving Sivaji, sometimes the struggle of co-actors is evident....... AVM Rajan for example in Thillana Moganambal....... paarkurathukke paavama irukkum.... antha nadhaswaratha vaai la vachikittu enna panrathunnu theriyaama pentha pentha muzhippar........ in front of Sivaji's adroit handling of nadhaswaram AVM Raajan looked like (atleast for me) ezhuthatha pen ah kai la vachikittu aana teacher kitta eppadi solrathu theriyaama antha pen ah vala ezhuthara maathiri baavala kaatara Student ....
