Pls ask her to be active throughout pregnancy unless the doc advises otherwise...if she is used to walking/swimming or any other light exercise ask her to continue with it after consulting her gyne...it definitely helps reduce most physical discomforts that ppl experience during pregnancy...also, whenever possible ask her to sit on the floor with her legs folded(the traditional Indian style)... ask her to talk a lot to the kid(not loud though

)... and if the mother is less stressed and has a peaceful state of mind, they say the kid will be more calm after birth...listening music helps... there are songs/music especially to be heard during preg...you'll be surprised to c the kid respond to the music ur wife was listening to thru her preg...

Dev, thanks a lot to the second advice. Yes, talking and music. I guess I have to leave behind temporarily my heavy metal and hard rock stuff, illana pulla poranthavudane aruva-voda porakkum. She's into Ilayaraja too, now, so I guess music'd be fine.
Overall, thanks a lot NOV, Kugan, Raghu and Dev. Really appreciate it. Though she reads this thread, I shall do the enforcing.

enforcing? hmmmm... lemme have a word with her.
Linda, Dev has a point about listening to music. Please listen to soft soothing music - classical stuff such as beethoven, bach and even indian classical like ravi shankar.
also both parents should talk lovingly to the baby in the womb.
Never argue with a fool or he will drag you down to his level and beat you at it through sheer experience!

I loved listening to instrumentals...esp sitar... I don't know why... but It used to be irritating to listen to music with lyrics(except for a very few soothing songs) during pregnancy... maybe paapaku pidikalayo ennavo... one song I loved listening to(sometimes throughout the day
) was that of garbarakshambigai... I guess I still have it in my gmail... if u want, I can look for it and mail u...

Got good collection of classical music at home. But I guess she has to stay away from Wagner
