But pEsum maNi muthu rojakkal - pennalla pennalla oodhappoo, more than a passign resemblance.
sometimes sandhams too match and it sounds similar like case of orey naal and sahana......also, pesum mani muthu rojakkal is itself inspired from mary poppins which is a legendary piece of music like mozart, beethoven symphonies which people still use it as reference in their music........for IR too, en purusan dhaan and dum maaro dum sound very similar, we do not know what makes him compose like that, it could have been like paying tribute, which rahman does for so many MSV songs..............
but bracketing ARR with HJ and GVP for copying/inspiration is a joke given the sheer number of copies/inspirations of these composers.........come on, if u cant decide quality atleast look at the quantity

Ajay, this is to be expected. No one accepts their idol copies.
Ok, do you agree that there are 100s of songs in sivaranjani raagam? Now, how do they NOT sound alike? meaning not the same tune?

OK, let me agree with you on this.
But you have not answered my question.
OK, shall we leave it instead of opening the proverbial can of worms.
Lets just agree that EVERYONE copies. (please don't come back with "but....)

Hi all!!
First of all each and every composer have their own inspirations. ARR had a few..He followed Vangelis, Dave Grusnin, Peter Gabriel and Pat Metheny very closely...Listen to the arrangements in "Netrillaatha Maatram" and Pat Metheny's "Last Train Home"...This is the classic case of inspiration....and you will be surprised to hear the similar arrangements...
Its very true, ARR has never copied a song fully and blatantly like his peers...There are sure inspirations..He is a clever musician who wanted to sound different and he has at times used tricks like taking the chord structure of a song and slightly modify it and fitting a new tune to it..The starting chord structure and beats of "Rhythm of Pride Lands" and "Poo Pookum oosai are similar..He creates a new tune out of no where...And there is this commercial loop thing..ARR himself admitted in one of his old interviews that he made an error by using the loop that Dr. Alban had used in his "Om We Rembwe"....Only after that, he started building his own loops..and expanded his library...
If one observes the songs, "Thenmerku Paruva Kaatru, Mukkaabula and Sundaraa(Super Police)" songs, it all had the same beats and the underlying chords pattern of the " Om We Rembwe" song..Here lies the brilliance of the composer...he has created a brilliant atmosphere in all the three songs...
If one follows the music of Indian film music, one can find lots and lots of songs with same beats but with extra ordinary tunes..IR experimented with mind blowing tunes and arrangements but used the same beat (predominant tabla usage) for many songs...There is nothing wrong in it...and when comes to western beats, people claim it to be a copy...There are lot of commercial loops and royalty free loops available in the internet and available with DAWs that anyone can use for their creations..There are several songs we hear daily and well immersed in our mind, and when composing, these permutations and combinations result in familiar tunes...After all music has only seven swaras....Really pity the composers...Lets enjoy the songs and surely ARR is a legend and has proved a lot and it will be very unfair to compare him to GVP, HJ and DSP......
