Its very true, ARR has never copied a song fully and blatantly like his peers...There are sure inspirations..He is a clever musician who wanted to sound different and he has at times used tricks like taking the chord structure of a song and slightly modify it and fitting a new tune to it..The starting chord structure and beats of "Rhythm of Pride Lands" and "Poo Pookum oosai are similar..He creates a new tune out of no where...And there is this commercial loop thing..ARR himself admitted in one of his old interviews that he made an error by using the loop that Dr. Alban had used in his "Om We Rembwe"....Only after that, he started building his own loops..and expanded his library...
If one observes the songs, "Thenmerku Paruva Kaatru, Mukkaabula and Sundaraa(Super Police)" songs, it all had the same beats and the underlying chords pattern of the " Om We Rembwe" song..Here lies the brilliance of the composer...he has created a brilliant atmosphere in all the three songs...
If one follows the music of Indian film music, one can find lots and lots of songs with same beats but with extra ordinary tunes..IR experimented with mind blowing tunes and arrangements but used the same beat (predominant tabla usage) for many songs...There is nothing wrong in it...and when comes to western beats, people claim it to be a copy...There are lot of commercial loops and royalty free loops available in the internet and available with DAWs that anyone can use for their creations..There are several songs we hear daily and well immersed in our mind, and when composing, these permutations and combinations result in familiar tunes...After all music has only seven swaras....Really pity the composers...Lets enjoy the songs and surely ARR is a legend and has proved a lot and it will be very unfair to compare him to GVP, HJ and DSP......
