Was surprised to see Annan speaking in Malayalam (his own version) throughout a movie, directed by Mani Ratnam - Pagal Nilavu. It was a good attempt but the Mal dialogues lacked punch. And the unfunny Isari Velan played his sidekick.

Can someone tell me whether Annan was there in Idhaya Koyil, Mani's first Tamil movie?

Thangamana Rasa -- Ramarajan. Late 80's movie (determined using Annan's physique) with Jaangiri comedy. PR, Annan's maanguyile poonguyile video here.
Thedi Vandha Rasa -- Ramarajan. Mid 90's with the famous Tonty Five rubees. Though my favorite is the not-so-famous "edhu noorruvaa nOttaik kaanamaa" in 4-5 various tones and emotions* . Video irundha upload panni vidungappu.
Raakkaayi Koyil -- Fifteen loss owner aka pesama seraingada. SMI that too after writing the first chapter of Das Kapital .

* - He starts first with the sheer shock of losing money. Next realizes that losing it is good as it keeps his lanjam-vaangaa wager intact. And then expresses the joy of losing it. All using the same dialogue but in various tones. Whattye genius.

BTW, I was reminded of the "star hotel joke" of singAravElan for the nth time when assembling an IKEA furniture yesterday. (These fellows give a few pieces of plywood / screws and make us assemble the furniture...just with pics, not even text!).

In lot of Annan's songs, he follows the style where he sings one line at normal pitch and then sings the next line (often the first line again) at a much higher pitch.
Is he trying to spoof any particular singer, MD or a general singing trend of his times? Or is it a unique style of his own?
