I know the weekend is Friday, sat and sunday. Had the film released on a friday, lets assume the film collects 1.8 C in its opening weekend - which itself is phenomenal. I was referring to the 2.7 c mark.

ohh ok ok, I think noone compared those 2.7 figures with other's opening second weekend 1.3C also phenomenal and the monday screenshot i was given was second week monday sep 12

Ajith, even with a mediocre film, gets the 2nd best opening after Rajni. So the long weekend only helped the collections further. Thats what I meant. Had the 3rd, 4th and 5th day been sunday, monday and tuesday, then the case would've been quite different, right?

Ajay, if u see, most of the people(working-batchelors) in chennai are from others parts of tamilnadu... for 2 or 3 days weekend, people rarely go to their hometown... considering 5 days weekend, most would have gone to their home town.... right ? in that case, the collections should have been lesser comparitively... am I right ?
I went to my hometown bangalore for 5 days weekend and i didnt watch mankatha here at chennai in the first 5 days.... many would have done the same.... so, other than batchelors, this time, family audience who rarely go to their hometown (because wife will say "lets go to my parents house" but husband wont will to go to his parent in laws house), thronged the theatres.... i guess this is why mankatha collected more in first few weeks and went to saturation.....family audience dhaan long run'ku reason'aa iruppaanga, but this time they watched in first few weeks.... and most of the batchelors might have seen in their respective home towns, so angeyum padam nallaa kallaa kattiyirukkum...
For this movie, audio release was not that grand... only promotions in sun tv(correct me here if i am wrong)... because of Ajith's kolgai, his movie never enjoys a huge publicity .... so, this movie is a true and genuine hit

Now Surya's 7 aum arivu is enjoying a huge publicity.....Last movie was Endhiran I remember... sorry using Endhiran(Rajini), sun and kalanidhimaran enjoyed publicity thats a different case.
