Dear V_S/ KV,
You have brought out really great numbers and enlivened the discussions. Particularly NOOL VELI. Actually there is one more song "Veenai Sirippil", which is difficult to find on the web. Any way let me try it. The song Kaettadhellaam Naan Tharuvaen - vow, simply great, esp saranams ... MSV rocks!

Aayiram ninaivu aayiram kanavu -
The cinematography in this song needs special mention - U.Rajagopal's marvellous hard work...
Music and lyrics: M.S.V. and Kannadasan

thErOttam aanandha shenbaga is another beauty. Thanks a lot KV for bringing this one up. All songs in this film are classic. What about Mounathil Vilayaadum by Dr Balamurali Krishna. Gifted to listen these gems!

In case you are not aware, 'mounathil viLaiyaadum' is in Shyama (saamaa) raagam. Maanasa Sancharare is the most popular carnatic composition by Sadasiva Brahmendra. Listen to BalamuraLi Krishna singing that too!
The raga is supposed bring peace or shantam.

Thanks rajraj for sharing the raagam information. Yes, I have heard manasa sancharare. Listening to Dr BMK's rendition is totally a different experience. His 'ganeer' and at the same time sweet voice with clear singing with no hurry which we dont' hear often nowadays. He adds lot of rasam and bhava in his singing so that we can easily feel the God and he get us closer to Him. Another kriti which I like in this raagam is Thyagaraja swamigal's Shantamu lEkha Sowkyamu lEdu by Nithyashree and R K Srikanthan.

Another absolutely fantastic gem by Vijaya Bhaskar, starring Kannadasan, SPB and Vani Jayaram from Engamma Sabatham (1974). Very breezy, yet haunting. Vani Jayaram penetrates our heart with her striking voice. Takes me back to golden days of radio listening (thEnkinnam) and black and white era of doordharshan.

Some great classics to rewind for deserved listening!
Thirumagal ThEdi Vanthaal - IruLum OLiyum (1971). Composed by one and only K V Mahadevan avargal, written by Kannadasan and sung ever young SPB. Such a graceful composition.

Some rare gems.
Kaalam Ponnaanathu - Kalyanamam Kalyanam - 1974 (A James Bond movie
). Music by Vijaya Bhaskar, lyrics by Kannadasan and sung by SPB. A great rock classic, not to be missed. Hear the terrific rock guitar and trumpet. Way ahead of it's time.
