    yes Meerra, going on a holiday... I did soem research and asking around... some friends say we can cook noodles,soup right in the kettle if the heating element is concealed...also eggs can be boiled...I found some interesting instant Indian recipes which I'll post here if the experiment turns out satisfactory... Since it's a lil long trip with kids, I wanted to try some basic stuffs so that their stomach gets some relief from hotel food once in a while... looks like this kettle( http://www.flipkart.com/home-applian...1-0c9c6aa3a7da ) can help in some basic cooking other than boiling water...

    Aamanga Suvai... actually the instant sambar n rasam mix I tried turned out really tasty... poha mix was good too... innum enna upma and pongal mix try pannina podhum... we get puli semiya in the market here...it comes with some masala...all u've to do is add that masala n enough salt for a decent semiya... idhu podhume 10 days tripku kidsku... Actually lil S is very sensitive to hotel food...2 naal continuousaa saapitaale stomach upset aagidum... adhanaal thaan indha research ellam...

    Thanks Suvai and Dev, for your nice posts.
    I was little busy in the weekend with a small function.
    As you all know we do not have any sort of help.
    All have to be done by us. Kugan has a maid to help out
    Here everything is us.

    I was so busy that I forgot to take the pictures of the spread that I had.
    Dev, your tips with kettle cooking is amazing.
    Should try one by one.

    PINEAPPLE GOJU (Meerra )

    Try this simple pineapple goju.
    It was a hit with everyone. Thanks. Meerra.



    PINEAPPLE GOJU

    Ingredients:

    1 tbs oil
    1 tsp mustard seeds
    1 sprig curry leaves
    1 cup pineapple, cut into I inch cubes. Use tinned pineapple
    1 tbs thick tamarind paste
    Salt to taste
    1 cup water


    Masala Powder: Roast in oil and powder
    1 tbs oil
    1 tbs coriander seeds
    ¼ tsp raw rice
    ½ tsp funugreek seeds
    1 tsp urad dal
    ½ tsp channa dal
    2 tbs grated coconut
    ½ tsp asafetida powder
    1 tsp chillie powder or more to taste


    1 tbs jiggery, or to taste

    Method:
    Heat oil in a kadai, add in the mustard seeds and curry leaves.
    Add in the pineapple cubes, tamarind paste and water.
    Add in the salt and let it come to a boil.

    Now add in the ground powder and stir well.
    Add in the jiggery and cook on low flame.
    Cook till the gravy becomes thick, check for seasonings.
    Remove and serve with rice chapathi, or ghee rice.
