"backdrop of the 1986 floods". Mmm...curious to know what style of music IR would opt for.

Couple of days back I had posted a news item about a new bilingual (tamil and telugu) album by IR starring Aadhi and Tapsee. It seems to be the same Gundello Godari.

She seems to be serious on the entertainment business. I would rather compare her with Ekta Kapoor. She used to run a show (maybe she still does) in which she used to interview celebrities. Lot of foreign return accent and all but she had some very interesting guests on her show. So I am hoping the movie will come out.

right! i think she also acted in some TV soaps, in the US - which explains her accent

This is probably the 1st time (as far as I know) when Raaja will be doing music for a film set in a period in which he and only he ruled . Interesting!

But what about Padithurai? any updates?

Padithurai - last read a report that it will release immediately after Diwali , but its been more than 2 months . No news at all since then
Happy also no news about when they plan to release

Both these movies if im right were supposed to come out in 2010 itself

As Plum mentioned, Suresh ji is the main reason for every Maestro's new albums getting its due recognition, it deserves, with his detailed reviews and analysis. Suresh ji is also responsible to substantiate that Raja does not only belong to 80's and does not only belong to TN. Hats off!

Yes, a huge round of applause for app_engine for taking the SPB-IR thread by storm. I have never seen such dedication and sincerity. Truly a great IR fan.

Yes, KV, Suresh ji, Querida really brought out some rare gems, otherwise we would not have known them at all.

I also have one kind request to all our friends. I only saw a glimpse of some excellent writing and analysis in jaiganes, Plum, Bala, grouch, KV, Vel, raagas, skr, thumburu, irir123, Querida, Sunil, Aravind, Hulkster and many friends in this IR forum. I know many senior hubbers might have already contributed which I need to search those treasures, still I would like them to contribute more whenever they have time (too greedy, I know ) for our dearest Maestro again.

2011 has been a great year for music and Suresh ji excellently summed it up. 2012 should be terrific as well, starting with 'Dhoni'. Happy New Year to you all!

Long back Vinu Chakravarthy announced that he is going to make a movie and music will be by IR. Some update on the same. Movie name will be Veli Kaathaan.

"...That's because he's planning a biopic on Silk Smitha himself! He says, "After recuperating from an accident, I'm making a comeback this year, as an actor, director and producer, with Veli Kaathaan, music for which will be composed by Ilaiyaraaja..."

Did a Google search. Looks like the movie ("Prasad") was announced sometime last february. On a glance, I could not find any reference that IR is the composer.
