Thedi Vantha Devadhai from Ponnar Shankar

The synth/electronica usage in the prelude is right up my street. The rendition paints a very tipsy scene. The second interlude sees Raja Saab doing a Yuvan but the folk beats keep the sound very Raja-ish to the core. Annanmar Kathai stubbornly didn’t give me chances to listen to any other numbers. But I guess it’s better late than never haha. This composition explores the best of both worlds i.e. synth and folk elements respectively and compared to Raaja Saab’s recent releases this gets the biggest for tackling experimentation with full throttle. The song might not have many takers due to the mishmash of sounds, but for me this truly is highly inspirational. I feel it’s ahead of its time yet equally delivers a vivid rural feel.

    Kunal and Shreya

Wow! Thanks a lot rajkumarc for sharing this rarest gem, especially the video. I remember seeing this film during my school days, but I can only remember Raveendar and Chandrashekar faces in this film. I don't remember listening to this song either. Thanks for introducing. I have other four songs from this film, but not this one. Please also listen to other two gems; Kadarkaraiyil (Nadu ROdu Ithu Namma Veedu) by KJY and Ezhai ViLakku by SPB.

You're welcome V_S MV's rendering almost sounded like IR esp in the pallavi, only when it got to charanam did I make out that it's MV indeed. I will definitely listen to the KJY & SPB numbers that you recommended. Thanks.

Eetti is another classic from Maestro. Captain's film. All songs are real diamonds. RajsMed has uploaded all four songs on youtube. Many thanks to him. Here is one of them by S Janaki. Another tribal number from Maestro. Please don't miss the other 3 songs.

A very rare Malaylam song. I had it in mp3. Only today a friend is facebook directed me to this youtube upload. Lovely song. I was asked what was the raga. There are traces of Abhogi but is the full song in Abhogi? Typical Raja question. Do give it a listen. You will not regret it

This is an amazing song uploaded by my good friend today.
Was discussing the song with the uploader as to what was the raga , it looked like Abhogi/Sriranjani
Then i checked that the Ni was differing resulting in the structure Sa Ri2 Ga2 Ma1 Da2 Ni3 Sa | Sa Ni3 Da2 Ma1 Ga3 Ri2 Sa which is in effect Gowrimanohari sans pa .When i looked up in Wiki Janya list , it is classified as Vasanthashree (Amba Manohari) , never heard of this before
    Raja magic yet again
This is a song im highly addicted to.

Btw there is a Tamil version of this song also
Poove Pani Poove from Nilavu Suduvathillai sung by S Janaki

The songs that played during the drive this morning :

boopALam isaikkum poomakaL oorvalam (chAral ninnu pOyi aka thooRal ninnu pOchchu, KJY-UR, early 80's)

pazhamudhirchchOlai enakkAkaththAn (remake of 'ennennum kaNNEttandE' called 'varusham 16', KJY, late 80's)

chinna maNeekkuyilE mella varum mayilE (amman kOyil kizhakkAlE, SPB, mid 80's)

uRavukaL thodar kadhai uNarvukaL siRu kathai (avaL appadiththAn, KJY, late 70's)

thenRal vandhu theeNdum pOthu (avathAram, IR-SJ, mid-90's)

People know very well, from elementary school text books, that the mAmA who was born on Nov 14 is very fond of rOjAppoo chinna rOjAppoo (not the song, the actual flower).

It does not mean that he was ONLY fond of rose (sariththiram "ozhungA"ppadichchAl one can find out what other flowers he liked )

Likewise, when someone says "I'm fond of rAsA of early 80's", that does not mean that's the ONLY period when he was superb
