In 70s 80s et all, in whole south, only Madras had good recording facility. So all language films used to be recorded here and all film makers in south used to camp in chennai to record songs for their film. at some point, even MDs here were dominating all of south films. Some other state MDs also camped here for some time. Slowly Recording theaters got established in other state cities too and they shifted.
