Paadu paatteduththu from En Arugil Nee Irunthaal - http://www.thiraipaadal.com/album.ph...R00132&lang=en

Rambunctious song spoiled by the choice of singers. I don't hate Mano like some of you do here, but he is definitely a misfit. I don't even know what to say about Uma R in this song. Especially the way she sings 'Jolly' is Great song though. First time for me. I have listened to Oh UnnaalE Naan peNNaanEn before.

pon veyililE - oru yAthramozhi. If they name tracks in English as well, I would have called this as Wings Of Violins. The way the first interlude breaks open and the way the violins spread their wings between kAlthaLagaLum.. kai vaLagaLum.. louly. The primary take away from this song for me.

The pallavi rather begins nothing extraordinary but that turn at kuRumbERum kuruvAlan is so sweet that it gets me every single time humming along. This song came in 1997? Even after twenty years of making melody - making a pleasing lovely melody again, vAngittu vandha varam. Second interlude has synth and loops and all.

Not liking this Sreekumar. Chithra is sweet as ever.

    AM,

The whole of 'oru yathramozhi' is stupendous. This song, 'thaimavin thanalil', 'erikanal kaatril' and 'majulum'. My wife's aunt had come once to Blore visiting and after she heard the songs, she asked for the tape. I gave it to her. I was lucky that I got another copy of the tape. I heard 'kaakala kannamma' song was major hit in Kerala. My wife's favorite album as well.

'siru kootula' from 'Pandinaattu Thangam'. What an amazing beauty. To think such songs went unappreciated brings blood tears.

Siru Kootila is such a stunning Kalyani..
First time hear for me and im just loving it ..

The beats in tisram , Chitra's rendition and the orchestration make it such a beauty ..

An absolutely fantabulous composition , his 70s compositions are just so special , soaked in melody with a hindustani touch .
I guess this must be his 1st composition where he has used Misram.
Once you stumble into his 70s its difficult to go beyond this phase *
Vintage magic of the highest order ..

Enna solreenga ji Siru koottula was a big hit at the time of arrival and still *mildly* popular. Chitra the sweetest The Santoor/keyboard/flute call-response in the first interlude is something to die for.

Thamks skr for the link to "chellla piLLai". I was humming this song few weeks back and very badly wanted to listen. But had no clue of the movie name.
I agree with Nerd when he says PAndi NAttu Thangam songs were popular , esp "Un manasula pAttu thaan" and "siru kootula"
Very interesting tea kadaiyil varum Geetham Usha. I too find it amusing why men get paranoid when they spot us in the vicinity of tea kadai as if it is only their birthright and idhula oru vethu presteeeege vera like the guy who stayed close to my hostel chided me "enna idhu kanda tea kadaila ellaam poi tea saaptundu. cha!! naa vena enga veetlendhu dhino paalo ,coffee yo anupparen". Avanukku enna theriyum enga hostel magimai or the pleasure of drinking Raja's songs along with Road side tea and bisxuits.
