The point is how Gounder goes overboard in saying something which is untrue or something he doesn't even believe in.
Remember in mEttukkudi, jaundice scene, where Karthik has everyone convinced that Nagma's eyes are yellow. Gounder's opinion is sought. He sees it is not yellow but wants to go with the flow. But he doesn't merely agree he goes one step up - I've always found this hilarious

Gounder: (looking into Nagma's eyes) thinks: veLLaveLErnu malligappoo maadhiri irukku, naama sonnA nambavA pOraanunga says: manjaLai eduththu appunA mAdhiri irukku (Corporate analogy ellAm neengaLE paNNikkunga).

Now coming back to yudham-chandhu. He only has to lie to house-owner Vichithra that he is not a bachelor but look what he says...

Vichithra: kalyANam aayiruchA?
GM: Oh!..kalyANam aayi...ellAmE mudinju pOchchu

i'm in the middle of watching JHONNY..

i've mentioned this before but for "anbukku nan adimai".. again this thought comes to my mind..

attention PR, SMI, tifosi & other analytical fans of Annan.. please watch Surulirajan's scenes in Jhonny [opening jewellery shop scene, in barber shop with vidyasagar, kumari muthu & the one with andhrawala samikannu]
& let me know any of you find some similarities with Annan's acting style (or) is this the other way, Annan had some influence of suruli (or) both were together in some drama troupe..
compare the dialogues [by Mahendran] & style of delivery, body language etc. [idhellam solla thevai illai, neengale parthukkuveenga]

but, i'm no fan of Suruli.. not even 5%.. at times very good directors bring out the best from him.. otherwise, he is irritating for most part
