While I appreciate Kamesh & Co efforts,

I would say that trying to market "Azhagar saamiyin ..." music/BGM with NEPV CD is a ugly idea...it is an insult to "Azhagar saamiyin ..." team.

me-thinks:

1. SONY MUSIC- SOUTH is probably a franchisee thing managed by someone local and with enough clout to have even got the franchise thingy!

2. if thats the case, am not surprised they are doing it this way - in a way, they are being manipulative (of our collective yearning for the album!) - its possible that IR is not privvy to all of this marketing BS! GVM might be, but is going ahead with all of it hoping for a nice turnover, given that his last two films were not very big at the BO!

3. yet another possibility - right from HEY RAM days, the audio rights of BGM/instrumental albums have been a pain in the rear for IR - for instance, the HEY RAM BGM tracks rights are with kamal (as he is the producer), who refused to release the same once the film became a dud at the BO! imagine HEY RAM BGM available as a 1hr CD - it would have ranked amongst one of the best soundtracks (by hollywood standards, which does not accept songs as soundtracks) - so I think with all that experience behind him, IR is cautious abt giving away the BGM rights - my understanding of the way the industry works: once the rights are sold, the composer/music writer only gets the royalty %, but not the entire returns from the album - IR for all his efforts cannot stake claims except having his name on the album! and whenever the music is used by anyone, SONY gets paid and IR will get his % cut (which might be peanuts compared to what SONY is likely to make!) - so not giving the BGM rights might have some such angle as i have shown here - maybe GVM and IR want to release the BGM later on around the time of release of the film, based on initial feedback from makkals!

Thanks Sakala. Fire Star is not available yet on iTunes. Solla Solla is truly awesome, just downloaded it.

However, K.S.Chithra's compilation is available (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/k.s...ra/id507682698). Not sure if all songs in this compilation are composed by IR.
