In MM, there is a scene where, one of the DILs gives the child to her parents when Saranya (her MIL) comes because, Saranya is asthmatic (or TB or something) and she doesn't want the child to be with her.

The son hits her for it and his wife's parents also reprimand her for using them to keep the child away from her MIL!

This is pretty new, isn't it?
The 'kodumakkaara marumagaL' merged with the 'protective mother'.
The husband actually says: 'even if my kid dies because of some infection contracted by being close to my mother, so be it'.

I think I mentioned about the final fight in this thread earlier when I saw the movie on TV. An example of the 'natural' fights that we see more often now.

i am waiting for a character which fights hard with the family members one day and being so affectionate with the same people the next day... thats how i have seen the family characters around me...

Solla Marantha Kathai mega bore and very *trying*. Perhaps the only good thing about SMK is, it was ShreyaG's first with Raaja (though her singing/diction was way below average) I also like edhO onnu song and cheran's summing in the sand

andha plot enakku avlovaa pudikkalai... whereas MK/MM involves complete joint families with their unions & intersections, which is too close to what i have seen... the maamanaar (pyramid?) is made to be a villain in it when compared to the paavamaana marumagan... and radhi was a miscast...
