not to make some vairamuthu fans happy but really vairamuthu has been one pillar of strength for rahman.......Vairamuthu is a vital element in taking rahman to the ordinary thamizhan - without vairamuthu, rahman could have been dismissed as a in and out guy with only western sensibilities.........vairamuthu's unrelenting support for rahman in his initial days and the amazing works that he brought out together with rahman completely nullified any arguments against rahman in terms of his tamil identity.......
obviously, there are some 2-3 friends in HUB, who use tamil for their convenience bash rahman but their argument is just surface level and its a manifestation of their support to some other artistes......

what is the use when GVM himself thinks thats not the best......he is more of the orchestra, guitar, jimmi hendrix guy and he thinks the real music is the IR style.....VTV will stay his most diverse album but i dont think he realises its value to its "truest" potential..........
i would rate Mr.Romeo on par with VTV or infact some ways better than VTV.........so rahman gives his best to anyone, who approaches him, be it GVM or K.S.Ravi or Dhanu's son

Maddy, the early years of rahman are something else .. after that it has been a slow decline for him .. i agree with you regarding vairamuthu ..
After listening to NEPV , i feel Raja is badly missing a great lyric writer like him .
Top glamorous heroines, top comedian, Oscar winning MD, commercial Director, expensive wig and other big list of commercial items irunthum thaathaa padam flop .. itha vida enna asingam venum ..

It should be the slowest decline for any artist
Well, i agree there is a complete change in his music style after 2000. But, i wouldn't say it is a decline. Probably he works less in tamil and more in Hindi and since you don't listen to Hindi songs makes you think like that.

Agreed with every word of Maddy. But it is also true that ARR played an important role in reviving VM's career when the latter was gasping for breath post the IR split up. He himself admitted that in an interview to Vikatan.

Decline in the number of films - Yes
Decline in the number of hits - Yes. While almost every album in the early 90s were chart busters, there were some duds off late. Mostly Hindi.
Decline in the audio sales - Yes. All MDs are sufferers of piracy
Decline in fanbase - No. Probably never.
Decline in ranking - No. Highest paid and selling MD in India
