SVN - i emailed Sony Music south thus:
"I have a very polite but strong request: Photon Kathas having spent money hiring Hungarian orchestra, Angel and Abbey Road Studios, it is only appropriate that those names are on the CD sleeve of NEPV. When my jazz club, orchestra musician friends here in the US - to whom I am sharign the music - see the details "recorded in angel studio and mastered at abbey road studios" - not only will they recommend the same to their friends to buy from ITUNES, they themselves might buy the original CD! already many of my musician friends here know abt Raaja Sir's music, but their only major complaint has been the quality of the recording as well as the CD sleeve notes that contain no details abt the studio etc etc. at least now we have an album with top-notch recording and mastering done at world-renowned studios! having taken so much time to promote and then release the CDs, I seriously request SONY Music South, to at least include the recording studio, engineers, orchestra names in the second batch of CDs that I have learnt through online sources, that are being made. I guarantee you - from my experience here - ppl in the West WANT TO BUY ONLY ORIGINAL CDs - and they want the whole packaging done professionally - if SONY music includes all the details as I have mentioned, there will be 100s to buy NEPV here and in Europe! Please pass on the above to your colleagues dealing with the actual CD making and packaging, and I would rather buy my set of CDs that have the information of the recording/ mixing/ mastering studios and the orchestra and the engineers involved - this will also boost the market value in a BIG way!
also I have been reading several complaints abt the CDs that ppl have already bought - for ex, some of my friends opened the CD files in real player, the album name is shown as "Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu" and all songs are listed in Telugu and they had bought the tamil version NEPV CD and not YVM!
and my Andhra friends who have bought Telugu CD are complaining that it can easily pass off as pirated mp3 cd"
and here is the reply i received from Sony Music South:
"All the credits in the CD inlay are provided and designed by production house in consultation with the music director of the movie, we don’t have any hold to get this printed on the CD. Anyways I accept your point and will try to incorporate the same on our future productions"
and my response to that: "while I do understand what you said abt the music director's consent, am also pretty sure that, if SONY approaches the production house and the music director with a very specific request to include the names of the recording studios, engineers and orchestra, I dont see how or why they would refuse to include the same ? also, if you recall, when Raaja Sir's 'Thiruvasagam' was released, the CD showed everything incl the names of Oscar/Grammy winning lyricist, sound enginner, Stephen Schwartz and Richard King besides the name of the Hungarian conductor and orchestra ! so, why not the same for NEPV ? anyway, I do hope and request that SONY considers my request seriously, and do the needful.
trust me, even very small bands here have a very professionally packaged CD when they produce an album ! and we are talking abt one of the most creative albums to come out of India in recent times, by our most accomplised composer genius! the album deserves much better packaging in terms of the CD product - thats all am saying ! once again, I thank you for your patience"
NO response since then!
