Let alone VTV.
Paya pullainga poi sollintanga pola - i heard a different story all together from the sony office

Simple logic, bro. Endhiran sold around 2.5 lakhs in the first 48 hours. Yes, there is an additional Rajni factor to it. But neither Chandramukhi nor Kuselan reached half the number that Endhiran made. As I said earlier, Puli fetched platinum disc. And this, in a market that ARR had hardly explored. This is how ARR albums sell. 45000 may be an achievement for other composers but not for ARR.
If that's the case, think of an album which brought ARR and GVM together for the first time. And VTV was ARR's first tamil release post his twin Oscar win. IIRC, it created a new record in Amazon pre-ordering. This made GVM commit ARR for both NEP and Yohan. But ARR's sabbatical in 2011 didn't help things.

This is a thread to discuss IR's albums. It's better if we stick to the topic. Too much of a digression into other composer's schedules and sabbaticals would only lead to rabble rousing.
FYI, every telugu album these days celebrates double, triple platinum disks. Komaram puli fetching a platinum disk is hardly a news. Pavan Kalyan's stardom always plays a huge role in audio sales. His latest album GabbarSingh (DSP) smashed all previous records in Audio sales, despite being a mediocre album. That doesn't make DSP the best MD out there.

Teja,
I know it's a thread for IR related discussions. VTV was not brought here by any ARR fan. But when facts are twisted, then that calls for an explanation. Because there are people who consider hub as a trustworthy source of info.
I also know that selling a Rajni album or Pawan album is quite easy. But selling a Shantanu album requires 'something'. Just my two cents. Let's continue with IR related discussions.

Think Music still releases audio CDs. Its a brand owned by Sathyam cinemas and you can see their cds in the food counters. Even yesterday I saw one of their teasers. Kaliyugam?
Even I saw in Sify, as quoted by a Sony Music official, that VTV audio has created history then. Like you, even I believe Sony music guys. Need to check the inside story of Sony Music still running behind ARR albums in spite of VTV selling only 45K. PERIOD.

Good joke.. Rajini & Shankar didnt play a part in Enthiran and you are comparing that with Chandramuki (P Vasu) after Baba debacle..and a guest appearance in Kuselan...
Would be intersting to see how Raavan and others sold in the same period...
I really dont think atleast in tamilnadu there wouldnt be any drastic difference between the pull from ARR, Haris or Yuvan
It is only the nature of the project that makes the difference when it comes to sales...Which again NEP has proved..
That is just about sales...
