CR, "submitted for nomination" not nominated. Not sure about the others (nice to see Deiva Magan, and years later Thevar Magan), but Jeans, Indian ellam too much, I say!!!

got it Groucho... 7 of his movies "submitted for Nomination" from India. That is a good achievement...
Probably there may not be any better movies to compete with Jeans & Indian in that respective year.

At some point, he stopped sending his movies. He even wrote to Filmfare divert the awards meant for him to younger gen.

Sakala, Filmfare news is correct... regarding Oscar, I don't think so he voluntarily stopped sending...

Devar magan, it went to final rounds and he got 1st hand experience with Oscar team. At some point, he stopped sending movies, ONLY after getting proper experience and realizing the while process. Which means he had a valid reason to stop. But when he started saying that he is no more eyeing on Oscar, some ppl wrote it as Chee Chee intha pazham puLikkum.

Bt even if Kamal was willing for nomination after 2000's, which kamal movies wil u prefer for oscar nomination...
Only virumaandi is possible...Anbe shivam would be sum extent...other would be rejected...
IMO, after 2000's kamal doesnt show his talent enough on-screen...
ullakullla niraiya vachirukkaaru...bt on-screen'la kaamikka maattengiraru... athaan problem'ae..

sakala, anggeyum politics-theyn. I think he knew it, and realised that his films will be nominated only if they want India to win, maybe to explore US jatti market in India, just like the beauty pageant meant for beauty products. Remember in one year where suddenly not only best actor and actress went to African American, but also lifetime achievement award? Anggeyum dakalti, dubakoore-unggo. It is not he who thumped his chest wanting to get Oscar, it's the fans/media who associated that award with him.
