I’ve been (still) reading the old messages/NT news/ write-ups from our veteran ‘hubbers’. Those endless threads give me more info every day. ‘The man of NT statistics’ Mr Murali gives extra ordinary details about NT movie releases in chronological order as well as box office hits. I wondered, how possibly NT acted in so many different movies in one day and how did he able to get under the skin of those characters? I think, when a director tells him a story and about his character in it, he would probably start analyzing then and there and ‘create’ his character in his mind. Then he would have applied his creation in the shooting spot. Otherwise he wouldn’t have much time to analyze those different characters he was going to depict on that particular day of shooting, properly.

வருக வருக, தங்கள் வரவு மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சியினை ஊட்டுகிறது. இலங்கையைச் சேர்ந்த நண்பர்கள் பலரை ஒரு காலத்தில் நான் அறிவேன். அது கிட்டத் தட்ட 30 கண்டுகளுக்கு முன்னர். அப்போது குறிப்பிடத் தக்க நண்பர் கண்டியைச் சேர்ந்த கதிர்காமர். இலங்கையில் நடிகர் திலகத்தின் படங்களின் சாதனை விவரங்களை அவர் நமக்கு அனுப்புவார். நாங்கள் இங்கு தமிழகத்தில் அதே போன்று தகவல்களைத் திரட்டி அனுப்புவோம். அப்போதெல்லாம் ஏர்மெயில் மட்டுமே. சற்றே செலவு அதிகம் பிடிக்கக் கூடிய காரணத்தில் 10 பக்க தகவல்களை ஒரு ஏர்மெயிலில் நுணுக்கி நுணுக்கி எழுதி அனுப்புவோம். இலங்கை என்றாலே கலைக்குரிசில் சிவாஜியின் ரசிகர்கள் அதிகம் உள்ள இடம் என்ற அளவில் நெஞ்சில் தனி இடம் உண்டு.

இலங்கை சாதனை விவரங்களை இங்கு நம் மோடு பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளும் தங்களை மீண்டும் உள்ளன்போடு வரவேற்கிறேன்.

Hearty welcome to the Nadigar Thilagam thread. Apart from the various names given to NT including NT, "Kalaikkurisil" is the name which always fascinates me. This was given in Sri Lanka and its indeed glad to note that you belong to Sri Lanka, where NT's films were rage those days.

நமது குடும்பத்தில் புதியதாய் இணைந்திருக்கும் உறுப்பினர் திரு சிவா அவர்களை வருக வருக என வரவேற்கிறோம் .முதன்முதலாக ஒரு இந்திய நடிகனுக்கு அந்நிய மண்ணில் ரசிகர்கள் சார்பாக இரண்டு மாத இதழ்கள் ஒரே நேரத்தில் வெளிவந்துகொண்டிருந்தது நமது நடிகர்த்திலகத்துக்குதான் ("சிம்மக்குரல்" மற்றும் "ரசிகன்") அது உங்கள் இலங்கையிலிருந்துதான் தான் என்பதை சொல்லவும் வேண்டுமோ?

When I watched ‘Pattum Bharathamum’ for the first time in video, I thought the movie was fantastic, in terms of casting, acting, songs and direction, except slight changes could’ve made the movie more complete and successful. A high flying businessman falls in love with a dancer and becomes a dancer himself, just to be with her. Another different story for NT and enough nuances there to feed his talent too. One Hubber (can’t remember who) mentioned that there was a political issue which hindered the ratings of the movie. (or something, I’m not sure). (It’s a pity that people didn’t separate their views from politics to cinema, when it comes to big heros.)
Anyway, the movie could have ended like; NT meets JJ after so many years, get together and live happily ever after, without creating a son for him (NT again) and his pair Sripriya. It reminds us some of his previous movies and it didn’t have to be like that. Couldn’t the story writer have just ignored the usual NT style movies and created a wonderful love story? NT must have worked really hard learning professional Bharatha natyam. For those who criticises his dance movements in the film; nobody can’t expect him (or the character he portrays) to dance like JJ, as the main theme of the story is a business man who has no idea about dance but learning it out of love.
NT was majestic and stylish in depicting a successful businessman, like he did in Avan thaan manithan. Those scenes when he falls for a dancer are wonderful to watch.
