Hi Madhu,

That excellent, seductive solo of PS "Neeradum Kangal Inge, Poradum Nenjam Ange" was not picturised in the movie "Vennira aadai". It's a silimar case to songs like "Maharajan Ulagai Aaalalam" in Karnan not being used in the movie. There have been other intances where songs tuned for one movie have been used in another like the superb PS-TMS chorus "Paadinaar
Kavignar Paadinaar" being used in "Thendral Veesum" after it was tuned originally for "Nichaya Thambulam".

thanks. naan veenira aadai film muzhusaa paarkavillai. so I dont know.

of course many songs like "thenral varum sedhi varum" from paalum pazhamum, "putham pudhu kaalai" from alaigal oivathillai are not in the film. As u mentioned I heard even "aalaya maniyin osaiyai" was really tuned for "alayamani" but later used in "paalum pazhamum"
"en manadhu onruthan" was tuned for "Avan oru sarithiram" but was used in "perumaikkuriyaval". All songs composed for a film called "oomai veyil" was used in "ingeyum oru gangai". ( May be the film name has been changed.. enakku theriyala )

Yes, like you said, "Thendral Varum Sethi Varum" is a wonderful PS solo sung ebulliently by the legend but unfortuntely did not find its place in the film "Palum Pazhamum". Just imagine the additon of this song to the VR chartbusting album!

The length of the movie probably and the tempo the fim makers wanted to retain could be the main reasons for dropping such wonderful songs. What a pity as the other two solos of PS in this film other than the evergreen "Aalayamaniyin Osayai" are sad nos. "Thendral Varum" would have pepped up the film, is my humble opionion. What usage of Shenoy in this song by VR duo!

Aalayamani was 1962 November release whereas Paalum Pazhamum came out in September 1961 [Come Sep 9th, the movie would be celebrating its Golden Jubilee]. So Aalayamaniyin Osaiyile getting composed for Aalayamani may not be correct.

ஆலயமணியின் ஓசை பாடலுக்குப் பின்னால் பல நினைவலைகள் எழுகின்றன.. சரோஜா தேவியின் பாத்திரத்திற்கு படம் முழுதும் ஓரளவு மெல்லிய சோகம் பரவியிருந்ததால், அவரது ரசிக ரசிகைகளுக்காக ஒரு பாடலை இணைக்க எண்ணியதாகவும் அதற்காக பதியப் பட்ட பாடலே இப்பாடல் என்றும் அந்தக் காலத்தில் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன். படத்தில் அப்பாடல் அக்காலத்திம் மிகப் பெரிய வரவேற்பைப் பெற்றது. அப்பாடலில் அவர் அணிந்த ஒரு சேலை மிகவும் பிரபலமாகியது. அந்தக் காலத்தில் தெருவில் வியாபாரி புடவை களைக் கூவி விற்பார். அவர் கூட ஒரு சேவகர் புடவை மூட்டையை தலையில் சுமந்த படி வருவார். வீட்டுக்கு வீடு வந்து புடவைக் கடைவிரித்து வியாபாரம் செய்வார் . அப்போது அவரிடம் கேட்கப் படும் புடவைகள் அனைத்துமே பாலும் பழமும் புடவை இருக்கிறதா என்பதாகும். இதை நானே நேரில் சிறுவனாக இருந்த போது பார்த்திருக்கிறேன். அப் பாடல் காட்சியின் அவரின் ஒய்யாரமான தோற்றமும் பிரபலம்.

yes. atleast we can hv these songs for hearing.
"kanaadha sorgam" was not even aired often I think. Only once somebody told that its from "nan sollum ragasiyam"
but I never found that scene in the film. ( the popular number being PBS sings for NT.. kandene unnai kannaale)
