உண்மைதான். ஆனால் அதற்கு நேர் எதிர்மாறாகவும் பலர் இருந்தனர். 1990களில் காரைக்குடி அருகே உள்ள கண்டனூர் என்ற சிறிய கிராமத்தில் சிவன் கோவில் திருவிழா. முன்னாள் மத்திய நிதியமைச்சர் ப.சிதம்பரம் அவர்களின் சொந்த ஊர். அவர்கள் குடும்பத்தினர் திருவிழாவிற்காக அப்போதைய ஒரு சிறந்த மெல்லிசை குழுவை ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தனர். எனது தாத்தாவுடன் நானும் சென்றிருந்தேன். மெல்லிசை மன்னர் மற்றும் இசைஞானி பாடல்கள்தான். இரவு ஒரு பத்து மணி இருக்கும். நான் வீடு திரும்ப வேண்டும் என்று அடம் பிடித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேன். குழுவினர் "இதயம்" திரைப்படத்தில் இடம்பெற்ற "பொட்டு வைத்த" பாடலை இசைத்து பாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். இரசித்துக் கொண்டிருந்த எனது தாத்தா "பாட்டு நல்லா இருக்குடா. இது முடிந்தவுடன் கிளம்பலாம்" என்றார். தொடர்ந்து இசைஞானியின் பிரபலமான* பாடல்கள் ஒலிக்க அவர் என்னையும் இறுதி வரை அமர வைத்துவிட்டார். அவர் மட்டுமல்ல, கூட்டத்தில் உள்ள பல பெரிசுகளும் இசையை இரசித்து கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். எனது தாத்தா 80, 90களில் வெளியான திரைப்படங்களை பார்க்க மாட்டார், ஆனால் பாட்டு கேட்பார். இசைஞானியின் இசைக்கு அனைத்து தரப்பிலும் இரசிகர்கள் இருந்தனர், இருக்கின்றனர். நீங்கள் கூறுவது போல் உள்ளவர்களையும் பார்த்திருக்கிறேன். ஆனால் அவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை குறைவே என்பது எனது தாழ்மையான கருத்து.
