With unparalled fan frenzy and grave anticipation, the trailer of Puli was unveiled last night. The trailer clocked 2.25 lakh views in just 1 hour of release without too many celebrity endorsements and riding solely on the massive fan base of Ilayathalapathy Vijay. As of now (9.30 AM), the trailer has racked up around 3.5 lakh hits in YouTube.
The trailer has a good concoction of everything to satiate the hunger of fans who were waiting for this magnum-opus since a long time. The gigantic sets resembling a palace, especially the opening aerial shot, the daring fight sequences, the ventorous spirit of Vijay in taking on a tiger-like creature, the cute romance portions with Shruti Haasan featuring a kissing spree on Vijay’s cheeks in a song, the searing attitude of Sudeep, the princely-looking Hansika Motwani who grooves gracefully, and the arrogant queen Sridevi Boney Kapoor in attrative costumes are the highlights of this 113 seconds long trailer.
The CG-heavy trailer had close to 56 CG shots spearheaded by the national award-winning RC Kamalakannan with good support from six-time national award winning editor Sreekar Prasad. The trailer is beautifully presented exposing the gist of the story to the viewers.
“In a land ruled by darkness. There is only one ray of hope” – This hints at the basic premise of the plot and what to expect from the film, if not anything more.
The trailer offers a wholesome experience. From the outset, the film looks like a fusion of fantasy, action, thriller and lots of comedy. We also get to see comedians like Robo Shankar and Vidyu Raman among others as dwarfs in a blink and miss shot.
Another attention-getting, curiosity-inducing shot is packed at the fag end of the trailer when Vijay wears his hair loose, rides on a horse amidst raging fire in the background like a valiant warrior. We guess if this specific make-over has got something to do with Nandita Swetha, who plays a brief role but is not featured in the trailer.
However, the spotlight was grabbed by Vijay when the trailer ends on a high with his punchline, the crowd’s favorite: பாசத்துக்கு முன்னாடி தான் நா பனி.. பகைக்கு முன்னாடி நா புலி.
With a number of genres infused in this grandeur, keep your fingers crossed and hope that Chimbudevan has not bitten off more than he could chew.

BREATHTAKING VFX AND A DELIGHTFUL VIJAY SHOW, GRATIFY THE AUDIENCE
We finally get to see the power packed trailer of Vijay’s action, adventure, fantasy entertainer Puli. The awe-inspiring trailer which runs close to 2 minutes, starts off in a grand fashion with a top angle shot of a grand palace.

The first quarter of the trailer gives a perfect build up for Vijay before he finally flashes onto the screen in the 35th second. And from there on, its gets totally captivating and action packed.

Apart from the luxurious backdrop and some sumptuous looking divas, the trailer scores high on VFX department. The team who has been working on the CGI, deserves lion's share of the credit for the grandeur of the trailer; their work looks stunning and unobtrusive, like how it is supposed to be.

BGM sounds kick-ass and suits the mood perfectly. The costume and the set works look so rich, so are cameraman Natty’s visual gimmicks. One of the unnoticed heroes here would be editor Sreekar Prasad; if not for his crisp editing, this trailer wouldn’t be this gripping.

The trailer also features a couple of cute delightful expressions of Vijay, who also scores high on action sequences. He however was just playing to the gallery with the one and only dialogue from the trailer.

On the whole a super fun trailer backed by some wonderful VFX work, Vijay’s screen presence and Sreekar Prasad’s wizardry

Puli Trailer Review: Giant, Black Jaguar, Lilliputs & Vijay Take The Expectations To A New Level!

Puli trailer was awaited by millions of fans all over the world and the wait is finally over as the official theatrical trailer of Ilayathalapathy Vijay's Puli has been released by the makers of the movie.
Puli is one of the most anticipated Tamil movie of recent times and the 1 minute 53 second video (trailer) has literally taken the anticipation of fans and movie buffs to a whole new level.
It was earlier reported that the trailer will have more than 40 VFX shots while the earlier released teaser just had 4 such shots. Kamalakannan, the man responsible forPuli's special effects had revealed that the movie will have a total of 2200 VFX shots.
But going by the trailer, it looks like the video was cut with an intention of revealing only a minuscule of the total grandeur the entire movie might house.

The much-awaited trailer of director Chimbu Devan's "Puli" starring Vijay, Sridevi, Sudeep, Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani in the leads, finally hit the internet at 12.00 am on Thursday.
Written by Chimbu Deven, "Puli" is an action-adventure fantasy film, which is about a brave guy (Vijay), who is in love with Nandita. Vijay tries to commit suicide after he fails to save her from criminals. Sudeep saves him and takes him to his kingdom, but he kills him following the growing popularity of the latter in the kingdom. What happens next forms the crux of the story.

"Puli" features an ensemble cast of popular and talented actors, and its trailer, which has some scenes featured in its previous teaser, offers a look at all the important characters of the movie. It also hints that all the actors have delivered brilliant performances in the film.

I am here, bro. Was quite busy with some work. Managed to watch the trailer. I have to say i am neither mighty impressed nor disappointed. Good VFX and good intro to the stellar star cast. Bgm was so so. Hope it is better in the film.

But all said, credit to Vijay for trying out a genre which is completely alien to him. He could've very well chosen a safe commercial entertainer as a follow up to the Kaththi BB and widened the gap with others. But he has done Puli. Hope it turns out to be a huge success for him and a great film for us to cherish.

A REALLY HIGH-PROFILE WEEK FOR 'PULI' VIJAY
All eyes currently are on the views and likes of the Puli trailer which was released at midnight on August 20. The number of views is close to 1.8 million while the likes count is close to 62,000.
In the meanwhile, the Puli teaser has stormed past the humongous 7 million views mark with more than 70,000 likes on it. After 'I', it is Puli which is clocking such big numbers for the teaser / trailer. Just goes to show Vijay's pull and craze among the online crowd.
In general, this is a really high-profile week for Vijay and all his fans. Along with all the buzz on the Puli trailer, snaps of him handing over the 'thali' and posing with Mani Ratnam at the Shanthanu - Keerthi wedding today, are going viral big-time.

Trailer is too good after an average album. This trailer sends a statement to the audience to come with family and have a fun ride. If you have kids, don't worry they will drag you to #puli. Looking forward for the FDFS.

Only things which I thought could have been avoided is punch dialogue in the trailer, though I could understand that t is meant for hardcore fans, but it's kind of odd in the entire trailer. Vijay should limit his punch dialogues to movies like Jilla to present and appeal himself to larger section of audience IMHO.

Supporting actor Gayathri Raman, who has essayed several mother roles in Tamil cinema, is eagerly awaiting her next release Puli where she will be seen as Shruti Haasan’s mother. “I essay the role of her mom and it is a rural role in a period setup. Shruti is so down-to-earth and always mingles with everyone in a friendly manner,” says Gayathri.

The Puli trailer is quite the rage right now with its views and likes swelling with every passing hour. Till now, the trailer has registered more than 3.4 million views and close to 76,000 likes, thereby becoming the most 'liked' South Indian film trailer and 2nd most 'liked' Indian film trailer. These are good milestones indeed, as the film gets ready to release on September 17.

The official trailer of Vijay’s ‘Puli’ that was released on the 20th of August has broken many records as it is nearing 3 million views inside of two days.
As far as likes on YouTube is concerned Thala Ajith’s ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ stood first in India with 66,760 likes which even Bollywood King Khans Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman could do not touch. Now Illayathalapathy Vijay’s ‘Puli’ has crossed ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ with 70, 932 likes and counting. It is great news for both Thalapathy and Thala fans as they are first and second in Indian cinema.

To ensure perfect output from the CG team, the makers of Puli have postponed the film’s release to October 1st. “Though a major chunk of CG work has been completed, a few parts from foreign studios needs to be reworked and the team requested for more time from the makers. After considering other options, SKT Studios have finalized the release date as October 1st for the Gandhi Jayanti weekend,” says a source in the know.
SKT Studios has officially confirmed the release date on its Twitter page. Already, PVP Cinema and Wunderbar Films announced that Inji Iduppazhagi and Naanum Rowdy Thaan will release on October 2nd. Since the Vinayagar Chaturthi slot is available, we can expect a major reshuffle in release dates in the coming days.

I don't know about the remuneration part but what I do know is that Sridevi is very choosy about her role...and screen time she gets. She rejected a huge number of scripts and some offers from big reputed banners before finalizing on English Vinglish. So that may also have been a reason for her decision of not taking on the Bahubali offer.

We don't have anything personal against the writer but we thought to write our reply to what she has written. The post will be a part from the article and our reply to that particular part.

First thing the writer knows the word fantasy but looks like she is mixing between fantasy and historical. That is the First Mistake. Fantasy is completely different than historical. Definition of fantasy is imagination especially when extravagant and unrestrained.
And how does Fantasy genre in films defined? it is something that contains rudiments that are not realistic, such as magical powers, talking animals, etc. Fantasy is often characterized by a departure from the accepted rules by which individuals perceive the world around them; it represents that which is impossible (unexplained) and outside the parameters of our known, reality. Make-believe is what this genre is all about. A fantasy has no language, land or look.

Second Mistake: The writer maybe have not watched enough movies. Nivedita ji haven't you seen Hollywood produced films like Aladdin or Sinbad? These and many other films were loved by audience and critics & we have not seen Hollywood critics say that Sinbad was not white or blue eyed! they did not say that western people should not wear these clothes! Why? because their critics know the meaning of the word fantasy and you don't. See the below picture. This is Sinbad! White with blue eyes!

Why go to Hollywood. Have you seen Bollywood films? Haven't you seen films like Alibaba Aur 40 Chor? Ajooba or even Dharmendra's Superman? Do you think Indians should not make movies that has a bit of Persian/Arab culture or Western look? A fantasy film has no land, no language. A fantasy film can happen anywhere. Puli is no different here.

Third Mistake: Writer has assumed that Puli is taking place in India! This is not true, Puli is not taking place in India simply because it is a fantasy film. Just because the film is made in India does not necessarily mean it takes place there. Names, places and everything about the movie is completely fictional. That is what a fantasy is about.

Fourth Mistake: The writer keeps repeating herself again and again. Her problem is that the look of the film is western and the film is an Indian one! Did you see films like Vikram Bhatt's 1920? Did India look like that or Indian wear like that in the 1920s? Did you watch Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish? Where was the setting of the film? Do Indians wear like that? bearing in mind that both these films were not even fantasies! One was a horror film and the other was more a romantic drama.

Fifth Mistake: Why does Puli have to be Baahubali? These are two different films with two different genres! How can you compare the two? Other than both being made with high budget and with lots of CGI use there is no other similarity! Actually we are glad that Puli is so different. Kudos to the makers for making it very different. The writer wants every movie to look the same to her own taste, That is not going to happen.
For all the above the writer gets a thumb down from us and Hindustan Times also gets another thumb down for posting this article not once but twice.

Reports claims the trailer has attracted over 3.4 million views and close to 76,000 likes thus becoming 2nd most 'liked' Indian film trailer after Salman Khan's KICK (with more than 1 lakh likes).

However as the movie fans anxiously await the film’s release the film is getting delayed due to unavoidable circumstances. The movie that was originally planned to be released September 17 has now been pushed two weeks ahead and will be released on Oct 1st, 2015.

Onam Treat: Vijay's 'Puli' Audio Release Event to be Aired on Malayalam TV Channel

Vijay has a huge fan following in Kerala and as a treat to Ilayathalapathy's fans, the audio release event of his upcoming movie "Puli" will be aired on a popular Malayalam TV channel during Onam festival.

It is a well-known fact that TV channels carefully plan their shows during the festive season as it is the best time to increase their TRPs.
Stiff competition is witnessed among those looking to nab key slots to air programmes on TV during the festive season.

The buzz surrounding the release of Tamil superstar Vijay's Puli is getting bigger with every passing day. Touted to be the most expensive film in the actor's career, it has also become one of the most anticipated films in the language this year. It also happens to be Vijay's first film to be dubbed and released in Hindi, courtesy the presence of Sridevi. The film will be simultaneously released in Tamil as well as Telugu on October 1 worldwide.
Incidentally, the theatrical rights of the Telugu version have fetched a whopping Rs 12 crore. "The Telugu rights have been acquired by SVR Media. This is the highest price ever paid for a Vijay film. Thanks to the recent success of his film Jilla, Vijay's market value in Telugu has grown bigger," a source told Mirror.
Vijay's last year's blockbuster Jilla was dubbed and released in Telugu in July and it turned out to be a sleeper hit. "It was an unexpected hit and hence, his stakes in the industry have skyrocketed. Following the film's success, Vijay has expressed his interest in Telugu market. SVR Media had originally planned to buy the film for Rs 8 crore but the makers of Puli demanded more. They unanimously settled for Rs. 12 crore and the deal was finally sealed," the source said. Also starring Shruti Haasan and Hansika Motwani, the film is directed by Chimbu Deven, and it's said to be a fantasy drama laced with time travel concept.
The makers have convinced Sridevi to dub in her own voice for the Telugu version and that will appeal to the local audience. "Initially, Sridevi was not ready as she had planned to only dub in Tamil. But the director and producers requested her and finally she gave in," the source added. The makers are also in talks with a leading studio for the wide release of the film. In the next couple of weeks, it's expected to be formally announced.

DUAL BANGS FOR VIJAY’S PULI…
Looks like it’s more than certain now that Vijay’s chef d'oeuvre,Puli will make it to the screens on the 1st of October as planned. Reportedly, the re-recording work of the film is going on in full flow and it is expected to be finished in a day or two, while the VFX work which plays an imperative role to the film’s overall output, is done.
Reportedly Puli will be sent for censoring coming Friday. Given Vijay’s track record, Puli can be expected to be censored with a ‘U’. Dubbing works for both Tamil and Telugu versions have been completed and it is very likely that both the versions will release simultaneously on October 1st. The last time a Vijay film had a simultaneous Tamil/Telugu release was for Thalaivaa / Anna.
With Vijay’s good market share in Andhra too, Puli is expected to see a massive opening in both the languages.
