Chennai 28 is going to relase on Feb 22.

Can't wait to listen.

This is small budget movie, no big stars, no big director, no big artist except yuvan. But Yuvan has spent too much effort in this film, i guess. The audio will go right places, if the film will fail at BO? or the songs will help the film at BO?

yuvan has always done this.he makes a film hit single handedly without any big stars or big directors in them.it is a youthful movie must be perfect for yuvan jus like THulluvadho illamai.anyway lets keep our fingers crossed till the movie releases.
don worry sanjeevi pretty sure the music will be a hit

Watched "Deepavali" yesterday. Nothing much to write about the movie. Yuvan has once again proved his mettle in coming out with wonderful BGMs. Be it for romantic sequences, or for action sequences or for heroism buildup
Yuvan rocks

I too think the same way, while all other website says the movie and songs are good, only Sify says the movie to be damp squib and U1's magic is wearing off.

Dont know they may have something against the film crew.

Hope the Box Office says the right thing.......

Watched the movie....

Its a love story with a different sort of twist...bhavana has post traumatic something something which makes her forget things she forgot in the last three years...but if she is cured she will forget those she did in the present..which is also loving jeyam ravi...how ravi manages to finally marry bhavana is the climax of the story...and its good the director did not make illogical sequences of the climax..pretty realistic and believable...certainly a good movie to watch.

As for YSR's bgm...he has shown more maturity in his understanding of the scenes particularly the eerie music he uses for the scenes which have a shocked/disappointed sort of outlook. Lets not bother about heroism buildup as he has already mastered that part as seen in thamirabirani...and i also noticed YSR using his father's style of using the trumpets and drums in the faceoff scenes between Jeyam Ravi and Lal :D

selva don't surprise

the biggest plus of the movie is
1) climax, 2) the storyline 3) songs and bgm

but I hate the build-up scenes for hero, hero's dad and heroine's dad. It is suitable to name the film as "Billu" instead of Deepavali. Padathula oruthar puthusa enter agurarna, avar muthala "Billu" pugazh paadittu than adutha velaiyae arambikkuraru :banghead:

Anyway once watchable movie if you have time

oh !! Sanjeevi brother !! Every hero in kollywood is doing just the same. When many do that, what shall we do

On the Album and my view on Yuvan:

"Yuvan better be careful in the movies that you sign in the future. Remember - It doesn't take much time for Kollywood to throw a rellay talented one and embrace someone who will be a winner immediately.

In Kollywood, Talent and Success never go hand in hand. Choose movies which will give you ample space to prove ur worth. The movies that you score of late have not only become dumb but also irritating. It would be better IF u become *choosy* than a man who will give many albums within 2 months"

What happened to you? When shall we expect brand U1 "Raw and sizzling, Melting Melodies" like "Ninaithu Ninaithu", "SollaamaL Thottu Sellum thendraL", "Idu kaadhaLa" etc :?:

The way you handle young playback singers is sometimes irritating. MadhuSree's voice in "Kannan Varum Neram" is :banghead:

"enna aaeelaaaaaguuuuu" "Renduuu viliiigalll" :x

Throw away your usual gang ! Embrace new directors and popular ones who can utlise u well and bring the best from you !

I hope u won't give us many albums like Deepavali, Thaamirabharani :banghead: etc

P.S: Sorry IF this sounds a bit rude ! :)

OTOH, Deepavali is carrying "Good word of mouth" among the family audience !

as u said nowadys most of the movies r comercial and if yuvan decides not to chose them am sure he will be left behind.already yuavn is known for experimentation ,its okie if he chose two or three movies commercial.however i thought he justified his part in both the movies "thaamirabharani and deepavali.the films r also not doing bad either.thaamira.. is nearing 100 days and deepavali going good as well.if he decides to compose ninaithu ninaithu ,idhu kadhala kinda songs alone he will be thrown as stereo typed.as a music director its good he is showing variety unlike harris.
but u r right "kannan varrum vellai"is sung extremely bad.well u cant expect something great from anuradha sriram anyways who always shouts at the top of her voice.its better yuvan choses his singres correct;y and aptly.even pogadhey could have been sung by someone else.

Karthik dude,
Nice to see a good reply though you could have used little more punctuation.

I want to clarify a few things:
7G Album was also an album which used many Aerabic instruments and you may call that as a something which came out of experimentation.
You can map the samething for PP also. I agree with them ! This is one of the things which I like a lot in Yuvan.

I am not his fan or fanatic. But just someone who likes his albums. Here are my observations:

Experimentation : PP, 7G etc (please note that i have not yet listened to Paruthiveeran Yet)
Albums which I feel as something pretty ordinary when it comes to the quality he set are :
1) Thirmiru
2) Thaamirabarani
3) Deepavali (though it had OK numbers. I loved "Kaathal VAithu" though it looked like an old song)

The primary problem is: He doesn't seem to differentiate b/w commercial movies and others. A commercial movies requires instantly catchy tunes, fresh, feel good music. I don't find any of these things in the first two in my list. Worst thing being "Karuppa" song in Thaamirabharani though I will blame Hari for that.

Nowadays, there are lot of competition in TFM ! IF Yuvan keeps on giving albums just for his friends and well wishers, only they will appreciate IF not people like us :)

Hope u get the point now !

Having said that, I am expecting "Paruthiveeran" a lot !

Maddy - I like U1. I also like HJ ! But I felt something U1 should understand first while competing with a commercially successful MD :)

thimiru,thaamira... and all didn go well with audiences though few songs r hit.but that doesn mean he is giving under quality songs.he gives what the director demands.for eg the hero intro song in thaamira..not a hit but u cant have a song like manjal veyil or songs like 7g just becose the song has to become a hit.then the movie would lose its flow esp under village background folk.these songs though not individually hits has helped a lot for the movie to be a hit.but as u said for yuvan to be more commercially sucessful he should be a little more demanding with the directors and not to go with the directors all the time.
one song in thimiru sung by gangai amaran kuthu song i thought was superb .he is usually superb in kuthu songs not like usual deva's ganas.the tune itself is good most of the times like "naeruppu koothadikudhu".thats variety.i thought thaamira had good catchy village background songs.it proves his varirty.don mind if they r hits but in the long run yuvan will be praised as a good music director.though harris is always sucessful commercially as a music director still many says he only copies from arr and always stereo typed.lets see how long both survives.

Paruthi Veeran - Rural is rich
IndiaGlitz [Saturday, February 24, 2007]

It is some time since Tamil cinema had an earthy movie that is realistically redolent of the pastoral predicaments and emotions. Ever since Bharathiraja left behind his hey days, such movies were replaced by either kitschy or campy kind of village recreation on screen.

But Ameer has brought alive rustic simplicity and complexity on our screens. You come out of Paruthi Veeran smelling of baked earth with an echo of pastoral patois.

Giving life to this charmingly boisterous village are the spirited team of Karthi, Priya Mani and company. Karthi, as his brother Suriya said not long ago, has proved his acting credentials right at the start of his career while he (Suriya) took a few films to really warm up earnestly.

Karthi's genes are filled with acting and it glows beautifully where he has handled the rather uncouth character of Veeran with finesse. He shows a lot of maturity in understanding the needs (of the script and the character). Priya Mani, in a pared down de-glam look, is another revelation. She is spunky and spirited and makes you wonder why big-time breaks are still eluding her.

Ameer's success is not only on the script, story or casting side. He has managed to wrest compelling performances from all the technical crew members.

The story is a simple one of a village lout coming of age and getting refined through the alchemy of love. The trick and the success of the story lies in the small details that are rich and believable.

Veeran (Karthi) and his uncle Chevvazhai are almost a law unto themselves and have no boundaries in the world. They don't baulk at anything and crime is not new to them. But Muthazhagu (Priya Mani) covets for Veeran as they had known each other since they were toddlers.

Firstly, Veeran does not have the refinement to understand and appreciate the feelings of Muthazhagu. On the other hand, as it happens in such cases, Muthazhagu’s father (Ponvannan) is opposed to the love on grounds of caste and an earlier problem.

Despite her father's forcefulness, Muthazhagu tries to commit suicide as she does not want to marry anyone else. Still, Veeran does not reciprocate her sentiments. It takes one particular incident to make Veeran to understand the depth of Muthazhagu’s mind.

From then on he is a changed man and begins to reciprocate her ideas and ideals. But still, her father is a stumbling block.

It is a typical village subject that is complex in its simplicity, as it were. Ameer, being from the same part where the film has been shot, has not allowed anything to cloud his vision.

Karthi doesn't look like a debutant. He shows the confidence and casualness of a seasoned artiste. It is not the easiest of roles for him. But he sees it through with panache. Ditto in the case of Priya Mani. Her delineation of Muthazhagu character is utterly cool and convincing. Ponvannan and Saravanan are all very good and give commendable performances.

Yuvan Shankar Raja almost does an Ilayaraja as he has come up with an inspired spell of rural music, which is full of effervescent beats and charming lilts.

Ramji's camera too captures the village ambience in cool and easy flavours. Rajasekar's stunts have easy seamlessness to them.

Ameer has shown that in these urban times, village movies can still hold your attention, provided they are real and reasonable. And Paruthi Veeran is.[/tscii:9fd258ec6d]

Very right. The kind of hype that IndiaGlitz generated even before the audio released is one reason why I was personally disappointed with the soundtrack.

For example, something that released with very little hype - Deepavali, actually had some fantastic numbers IMO. Its quite possible that IG has a marketing tie-up with the makers of C28, much like IndiaFM, which promotes select movies due to a promotional tie-up.

On a related note, I still remember the amount of hype they created for Arindham Planman Choudhry's extraordinary dud 'Rok sako to rok lo'....even the otherwise curt Taran Adarsh was forced to give it 3 stars due to the tie-up.

in u1's recent albums, personally i like deepavali songs most.

u1 used North indian style (esp Hindustani) in some of deepavali songs. (nobody is mentioned this  )

u1 is giving musical treat continuously. Thanks Yuvan. :D
TB has two very good songs ( thaliye thevai illai and varthai onnu)
Deepavali is very good album as a whole.
PV is experimental and innovative, its again very good album.

This is indeed a surprise, I thought Yuvan would be doing that film. Vishal has worked with HJ before for his Chellame. Was Chellame his home production?

Selva,

i think u1 accepted these type of pure commericial films(sandakozhi, TB, etc) for showing his versatility.

sandakozhi songs are reached better than AIBI. what can we do??? some times You need some commercial hit or mass reach.

but definitely u1 needs to concentrate on movie selection. i am the one who raised this issue very long time back in this hub.

if he selected the movie correctly, then surely he will rock more.......

He should choose based on Very good directors/big banners/musical based movies/much hyped movies/ commercial movies with high class presentation(like sankar movies).

Music Review

Chennai 600028 - A youthful musical journey
IndiaGlitz [Monday, February 26, 2007]
Yuvan symbolizes the music of the Generation Next. He has caught the imagination of young music-lovers as his mastery over western lilts and rhythms is now well established.

Living up to his reputation is the young music director in Chennai – 6000028. He has come up with ten songs which are sure to catch the imagination of the younger generation.

The colloquial lyrics, peppy instrumentation and good harmony make the songs click. Apart from Shankar Mahadevan, S P Balasubramanyam and Chitra, Yuvan has opted for young and enthusiastic singers for the album and it is evident from the end product.

Besides penning a lyric for a song on friendship, Yuvan himself has sung a couple of numbers.

Both the producer (S P Charan) and the director (Venkat Prabhu) are steeped in musical traditions of Tamil cinema. Teaming up with Yuvan, they have come out with a rocking album.

The lyrics by Na Muthukumar, Gangai Amaren also carry a bespoke youthful exuberance.

Listen to them and fall in love with them immediately.

Ennamo (Anoushka)

A perfect beginning. A typical Yuvan song which begins in the form of a jingle and gathers momentum as it progresses. Set in the form of a western rap, the song is dominated by soft use of guitar and flute. Anoushka rendering in an Anglican accent works wonders. The song is like a hot pizza topped up with sweet sauce. Sure to be lapped up by the youth. Is this Anoushka the daughter of Pandit Ravishankar?

Ulle Vaa (Yuvan Shankar Raja, Funky Sathya)

Seemingly influenced by the likes of Backstreet Boys, Yuvan has used all the rhythmic inspirations and peppy energy. A catchy rap accompanies the lyric all through. It is sung by a group of friends who are ready to take on the cricket field. The mix of English and Tamil lyrics makes it interesting. Yuvan Shankar Raja gives the song the right energy. And it is infectious.

Natpukkulae (Yuvan Shankar Raja)

Yuvan always coaxes the best out of the guitar. If it is violin for his dad, then it is guitar for him. With just a solo guitar, Yuvan begins the song which dwells on friendship. Sure to find a place in all college campuses, the song is very stylish. Smooth to hear, it has Yuvan's stamp affixed all through. The song is very special since Yuvan renders it with grace and charm.

Watch out for the lyric, it is sure to become an anthem among the students.

Saroja Samman Nikalo (Shankar Mahadevan, Prem Gi Amaren)

Begins with a Hindi word. It is supposedly a symbol of energy among the youth today. A racy stuff which should keep the youth shaking their legs. Yuvan has incorporated all the mass feel instruments. Reminding Ilayaraja of early 1980s, the song oozes peppy pace and vibrant energy. Shankar Mahadevan, the man with a bundle of firecracker in his voice, does a thorough job. Playing the second fiddle is Prem Gi Gangai Amaren (son of Gangai Amaren). But he is not far behind. It is full of fun and frolic. The lyric is very simple and sure to be heard in every nook and corner of Chennai. Yuvan has smartly used Annathai Adurar from Aboorva Sagodharargal in the interlude.

Un Parvai (Vijay Yesudas)

If all the earlier songs were predominantly racy tracks, with Vijay Yesudas around, Yuvan has come up with a soft melody. A soft romantic number, the song has good beats and soft percussion instruments accompanying it to give the listeners a mystic feeling. Yuvan has taken a leaf out of his father's works. Job well done Yuvan.

Jalsa (Ranjith, Karthik, Tippu, Prem Gi Gangai Amaren)

A fusion of Punjabi Bhangra and the western classic, the song has enough commercial ingredients in it to click. The smooth lyrics dwelling on friendship, peppy beats, catchy tune and chorus make it a rambunctious and a rollicking ride. The quartet of Ranjith, Karthik, Tippu, Prem Gi Gangai Amaren goes for the jugular. The exuberance is elevating.

Yaro (SP Charan, Venkat Prabhu)

It is the turn of the producer (SP Charan) and director (Venkat Prabhu) to take to the mike. In a sense, it should have been very spontaneous work for them as the song is about friendship, and the two are together through the thick and thin. You could not have chosen any pair better than this for a number on the bonding shared by friends. Kind of musical opera, Yuvan has used enough violins accompanied by peppy beats. The tune does the trick. Flowing very smooth, the song is a delight to hear. Hats off to Venkat Prabhu and SP Charan for bringing the right emotions in the song.

Yaro (SPB, Chitra)

If the earlier song dealt on friendship, this one revolves around romance. A shrewd Yuvan has chosen his instruments carefully to provide a romantic feel. The tune is quite the same to the previous song. But the soft-beat of drums and good chorus make the difference. It is a vintage SPB. Comfortable in touching the high octaves, it is a tailor-made song for the veteran playback singer. Not far behind is Chitra. The seasoned campaigner chips in with her best.

Jalsa (remix) (Gana Ulaganathan, Gana Pazhani, Karunas, Prem Gi Gangai Amaren)

It is quite evident from the choice of singers that Yuvan has opted to render a racy and a commercial song to enthuse front-benchers. Quite like Yuvan Shankar, the song begins on a western note but goes on to become more local.

The entire album is filled with youthful flavour, both in lyrics as well as in tunes. Yuvan has underlined his feel for nuanced rhythms with this album.

It obviously must have been a great help to have had a producer and director who are no slouch as musicians.

On the whole, the album rocks. Listen to songs of Chennai-600028 at http://www.raaga.com/channels/tamil/movie/T0001134.html. Brought to you by raaga.com.

Yuvan does a Jalsa
By Behindwoods News Bureau.
February 28, 2007

Here is a movie - after a long time - that has managed to raise the bar even before it hit the screens. Especially when it has no bigwigs of any kind in it. It is Chennai 600028, produced by S.P.B. Charan, directed by Venkat Prabhu, and scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the tracks of which have already become a rage among youngsters.

Featuring an assortment of 9 peppy and romantic songs, the album has managed to make its way to the chartbuster list not sooner than it was released. Besides, the album is the first of its kind that can officially be downloaded from the music sites.

The main attraction of the album being the 'Jalsa' song, which has its original and remixed version. The remix version was sung by Sabesh, Gana Ulaganathan, Gana Pazhani, Karunas, and Prem Gi Amaren and guarantees a foot thumping experience.

The movie revolves around a bunch of teenagers who are a part of a local cricket team and their dream to make it big. With the songs heading to rule the charts, the movie, as well has raised the expectations among youngsters.

The two release of Febraury months has Yuvan's Music and Sify reportedly claiming that Deepavali is Flop inspite of its good run & review. Also states that "Yuvan Shankar Raja’s magic is wearing off as none of the songs stay in your mind". Incase of Paruthiveeran its states that "There are far too many songs mainly folk that irritates you especially the one that comes just after interval"

In the other hand Indiaglitz says "We are the official online partners of all the three films and hence we are happy and rejoice in the success of Deeppavali, Mozhi and Paruthi Veeran".... http://www.indiaglitz.com/channels/tamil/article/29528.html

It looks like the YSR-IR transition still continues :D

Saroja Saman Nikaalo has a stanza after the first and second interludes which bear IR's stamp of tunes used for such songs i.e using a simple melodious tune with abit of tempo to let the lyrics flow after a massy interlude.

Even more reminiscent is the second interlude which has a lady chorus singing in a fashion accompanied by some percussions which IR has used explicably in many mass songs before. Looks like IR's style is not all lost :D

Selvaraghavan Karthi combination to start work
By Behindwoods News Bureau.
March 06, 2007

After the success of Paruthiveeran, Karthi brother of Surya has carved a niche for himself. Now there are some expectations from this young man that too when his next project happens to be with one of the finest directors Selvaraghavan. "Idhu Malai Nerathu Mayakkam" (IMNM) is the next project of Karthi where he would pair opposite Kadhal Sandhya. Selvaraghavan who is currently busy with his Telugu movie "Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule" with Venkatesh in the lead is expected to start work on IMNM in the first week of May.

This Telugu project saw the split between the two good technicians and friends Selvaraghvan and cameraman Aravind Krishna. The two split on the grounds of misunderstanding that lead to the walk out of Aravind Krishna from IMNM and also from "White Elephants", a production unit started by the trio Selva, Yuvan and Aravind. IMNM will have Ramji (Paruthiveeran's cameraman) behind the camera. Yuvanshankar Raja composes music as always for a Selvaraghavan movie. It would be interesting to note how Selvaraghavan directs Karthi as this would be the first time Selva would be directing a hero who has already given a hit movie.

Yuvan who was a part of Vishal's success story, by providing hit music for Sanda Kozhi and Thimiru got the boot from the Reddy brothers and their GK Corporation. The Reddy's have now roped in Harris Jayaraj for their new film Sathyam. They had worked earlier in Chellamay. It is purely a commercial decision as Thamarabharani music failed. A peeved Yuvan feels that there were hit numbers like Thaliyei thevai illai neethan…., and it was the content which was bad![/tscii:123f2d33bf]

From his discussion that was aired on 'kollywood court' on Jaya TV, Ameer said that there is another version of complete movie had been taken keeping the international film festivals on mind. It is lying at Prasad studios because of disputes. Once they are over, it will be screened at festivals and will be released here also.

Is this could be the tussel between Studio green and Teamwork?

Also his next venture may be a pakka masala movie

Unreleased version of Paruthi Veeran
By Behindwoods News Bureau.
March19, 2007

Paruthi Veeran is running to packed houses and the crew is obviously excited about its performance. Meanwhile it was found that an unreleased version of the film is lying in a corner, totally unattended in Prasad Labs. When the matter was probed, it was revealed that director Ameer had shot a different version of the film targeting awards and international film festivals bereft of the usual commercial elements.

While narrating about this, Ameer admitted the existence of such a version of the films and said, "It is true that one version of Paruthi Veeran is at Prasad Labs due to some problems. It is likely to get resolved soon when it would be sent to international film festivals. I had shot this version targeting a wider audience". When Ameer was quizzed if Surya would feature in his next film Kannabiran, he said that if people close to an actor do not interfere in the making of a film, he can make any actor act with perfect ease.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has made the right beginning in 2007.

With his tunes in Paruthi Veeran making it big and the album of Chennai 600028 topping the audio charts, Yuvan has consolidated his place in the industry.

If Paruthi Veeran had earthy songs which reflected life and culture in rural Tamil Nadu, Chennai 600028 is an album inspired by peppy western music.

A happy Yuvan says, “I am happy to have made the right beginning.”

“All credit should go to director Ameer for the success of Paruthi Veeran songs. He wanted different tunes from me. Rural songs are not my cup of tea. But Ameer ensured that I delivered it big.”

Yuvan has a host of films lined up for this year which includes a few biggies.[/tscii:7bbff9070b]

Yuvanshankar Raja has become a frequent flier in Tamil film industry.

The ace music composer recently returned from Bangkok after composing music for Silambarasan's forthcoming film Kettavan.

The music composer is now off to Maldives to compose songs for director Seeman's Vazhuthukal.

The trio of Seeman, Yuvanshankar Raja and lyricist Na Muthukumar flew to Maldives to compose music for Vazhthukal.

The movie would feature Madhavan and Bhavana in lead roles.

Director Seeman and Madhavan had earlier combined to give a blockbuster in Thambi. Vidyasagar had scored music for the film.

Yuvan getting popular

Simbu and Music director Yuvan Shankar Raja shares a special rapport in making the their film hit. Yuvan scored Music for Vallavan & Manmadhan, which went really well in the kollywood. Besides, this year Yuvan’s Paruthi veeran, Thamarabarani & Chennai 600028 songs had already makes the Music director more famous.

In this way now Yuvan aligned with Simbu in the forthcoming film Kettavan. For songs rerecording Music Director at present is in Bangkok to make the music live. Kettavan is hitting the floor by Next month under Simbu’s story and screenplay. So Kettavan team are making necessary preparation to set the film release by mid September.

Yuvan and Simbu in Bangkok
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, March 22, 2007]

Director Silambarasan and music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja seems to share an excellent rapport. They came together for Manmadhan and Vallavan. All the songs went on to top the audio charts.

Success brings both together again. Silambarasan will have Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring music for his next movie Kettavan.

The two had been to Bangkok recently for composing the songs. In just a couple of days, Yuvan managed to come up with five catchy tunes for the movie.

An impressed Simbu reportedly presented Yuvan a costly gift on the occasion. Kettavan will go to floors early next month and a couple of songs would be shot first.

The New Year so far belongs to Yuvan Shankar Raja. His tunes in Paruthi Veeran, Chennai 600028 and Thamirabarani have become popular.

Confident of continuing the good run is Yuvan Shankar Raja.

After hearing CHENNAI - 28 album, I conclude that this is one of the best albums of U1 ! 8-)
All the songs are good. Though no one can avoid the dejavu feel associated with two songs, all others songs are too good.
I love "Yaaro" and "UN Paarvai pattaal" ! esp "UN paarvai pattaal" sound too good. A perfect energetic album from U1.
This album has perfect mix of Kuthu songs and melodies.

A perfect start from U1 for the year 2007 ! Way to Go U1 !

Keep up the good work ! :D

The Violin piece in the "Saraoja Saaman Nikalo" song is just amazing.

Having looked at the TRAILOR of the movie, I would say the movie will be winner despite India exiting the WC ! There are many cricket fans still around if not Indian team fans alone :)

I don't think the success of the movie relies on this song alone. Other songs will also boost the success of the movie. I have a gut feeling that this movie is gonna be a definite winner at the BO.

Yuvan Shankar Raja's Bangkok craze

If Yuvan Shankar Raja has accepted a new film, a ticket is booked for him immediately for Bangkok.

For almost every film, Yuvan goes to Bangkok to do his music composing. If it is a Simbu film, it is definite that the two of them definitely fly to Bangkok together. That's exactly what happened for composing music for Simbu's new film 'Kettavan.' They thought they would at least get two songs composed, but as luck would have it, 5 songs were composed.

Yuvan is planning to release a solo album. Work for that is going on at Bangkok only. His favorite place in Bangkok is JW Marriott. That's where he stays every time he goes to Bangkok. However the last time he and Simbu went to Bangkok, the Marriott was full, so they had no option but to stay at another hotel.

No one is sure exactly what it is in Bangkok that is so inspiring to Yuvan and Simbu. Whatever it may be, all songs composed there by Yuvan have been sure fire hits!

Venky is back!
By Moviebuzz |

Venkatesh is an actor who is particular that he has two releases a year at regular intervals. This has worked for the actor in the last 20 years but now for the first time, he has not had a release for almost a year. 14 months after his last release Lakshmi, Venkatesh is ready with his next film Adavari Matalaki Arthalu Verule (AMAV). The film is directed by Selvaraghavan, the hot-shot director of Tamil cinema. But the film has been delayed for various reasons.

First Venky met with an accident and was out of action for nearly three weeks. Then the cameraman Aravind Krishna fell out with Selvaraghavan and a new cinematographer was roped in. All these factors added to the delay.

And now with the shoot getting over and post production work going on, AMAV is scheduled for April 28th release. Venky and Trisha have been paired together for the first time in this film which is a light romantic drama.

Trisha plays a modern and independent woman. The film's music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja is having its audio launch on April 6.

Chennai 600028’s Audio Rules Top 10 List Worldwide!
IndiaGlitz [Friday, March 30, 2007]

Yuvan Shankar Raja’s Chennai 600028 album has reached the top 10 list worldwide.

Radio Stations in Chennai, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Canada have rated the songs in their Top 10 List. Amazingly, the film is yet to be released and such a feet has been achieved.

Speculations are that the Chennai 600028 Album would stay in the Top 10 for a long while. Unanimously, SP Balasubrahmanyam and Chitra’s rendition of ‘Yaaro’ has been much applauded. Yuvan has proved to be indeed Isai Gnani Ilayaraja’s long awaited success.[/tscii:6daee1017b]

[tscii:2b3bf88718]IndiaGlitz must be naive to do pieces like this. IndiaGlitz’s banner is very apparent in some shots of the film’s promo and it’s evident that they’re marketing partners for the film.

Add to it, dumb sentences like ‘…such a feet has been achieved‘!

And, ‘Speculations are that the album would stay in the Top 10 for a long while‘! Who exactly is speculating?

And worse, ‘Yuvan has proved to be indeed Isai Gnani Ilayaraja’s long awaited success‘! What does that even mean?

It’s appalling to see a so-called mainstream website brazenly misleading and using its users to promote their films![/tscii:2b3bf88718]

KR did BGM for Yuvan's Pudhiya Geethai, he was given credit in the movie itself. If at all KR does BGM for his movies, Yuvan will definitely give credits to him. Also there were news about KR that he does not do BGM for his movies and producers were forced to complete the movie with somebody else. which one to believe????

What is great ? love or lust? "Satham podathe' - a debate

Vasanth's films always had multidimensional appeal to audience across the board owing to the intensity of the story, the treatment, songs and settings.

Now Vasanth is silently working at producing a film that will be a feast to his audience. The title of the film 'Satham podathe'.

Vasanth's films always had memorable songs. How about this film? Asked about it, Vasanth started describing them.

"After a long gap I and Yuvan Sankar Raja have come together. This film has the story and music intertwined together. Yuvan has set wonderful music to it. I have always demanded the best from the song writers and in this film too I have done so."

"For a long time there has been a debate about what is great - love or lust. Na. Muthukuar has written a song in that context.

The song goes like this "kaadal perida kaamam perida…deha salayil nadandu pohayil kaamam periyadu deham enbadu kadandu pohayil kaadal periyadu....udal kaamam irangu pohum uyir kaadal endrum vaazhum…

At a time when lullabies are rare in Tamil cinema, there is a lullaby in the film written by writer Tamarai.

"Rasikiran rasikiran ennai nee uruttuvadai..araimadiyil ammanay ennai nee mirattuvadai rasikiran rasikiran... Yuvan Shankar Raja has set a jazz tune for this song. There are 4 other songs and I guarantee they will also be very memorable."

Two songs were shot at Mount Kailash and Kochi. Other songs will be shot in Chennai. The song release will be done in this month says Vasanth in a chatty voice that sounds as musical. [/tscii:187ef82e91]

I don't think that will be case. The program was more like an informal get-together, so they didn't give credit to each and every techinician involved in the movie. They were making fun of cinematographer and choreographer, they just appealed to them not to take their comments seriously. That's pretty much it. I think Yuvan should have gone to Mauritius with Seeman for his Vaazthukkal when this Koffee with anu program taken. Lets hope this team works together in the future too... ...

regarding parattai, its better that he is not music director.because i ve seen in many news articles songs were like kuttu songs . now only he has regained name frm deepavali, paruthi veeran,ch 28 after debacle of thimiru, thamirabharani.(though i like 1 or 2 songs in each movie)

amav telugu movie with venkatesh is really very good. spb and udit narayanan songs are really melodious.

Even I also feel so. Venkat Prabu himself opened a thread in YUVAN ORKUT community before the audio release. I don't see any family or friendship problem.  IMO, Chennai 28 is one of the best albums from U1. I was expecting an album like this for a long time. The JALSA song starts off with beats from "Idu Kaadhalaa" from TI. The moment I heard that I felt this is going to be a different and interesting album. Again, Venkat Prabu has extracted different and superb songs from Yuvan. I hope he will do full justice to them with the picturisation.

On PEAS : I don't think the songs were crap in the original. Infact, the movie became a huge hit just coz of the songs. IF u see the movie, u will realise that as a whole it is a huge crap. Only songs rescued the movie and it went onto become a blockbuster (Industry hit) which is broken by "Mungaru Male". It is indeed a miss. Anyway, not a great loss or something u should feel.

ON AMAV, I haven't listened to the songs yet :( From the title and the stills, I feel that hti sis going to be RELATIONSHIP based movie like KK, 7G etc. (Thank GOD, I don't want to see yet another PP) :)

I would love to see YUVAN using Arabic Instruments and Violin more than what he is doing now ! That will remain as his own style. He can deviate from the regular ones. I was impressed with couple of songs in Deepavali.

But HIS VOICE suits for very few songs. Not sure whether it is his decision to sing a song in every album or the directors' choice. whatever bethe case, he should be little more careful in this.

Selvaraghavan to direct Vikram
- 04.04.2007

Such a long gap between 2 films? Chiyan fans are in blue mood. It's 2 years since Vikram's 'Maja' got released after which there has been nothing.

Vikram has words of consolation for those who enquire about this. Even if 'Bhima' is delayed, he will be working in 3 new films at a brisk pace. First is Susi Ganesan's 'Kandasamy.' After that is Seeman's film produced by Mohan Natarajan for Sri Raja Kaliamman Super Films.

After these two, Vikram will act in Selvaraghavan's film. Ever since he saw 'Kaadhal Kondein,' Vikram became Selva's fan. His wish is coming true only now after all these years.

This film will be produced for Kanaka Ratna Movies by Ramesh Babu who produced 'Pokkiri.' Music is by Yuvan, camera by Aravind Krishna and lyrics by Na Muthukumar.

< a href=""> Chennai-600028 songs rock dance floors! </a>

Chennai 600028’s songs have been nothing less than rocking the radio waves ever since it’s audio released in mid February this year. Reviews have been encouraging and listeners applaud Yuvan Shankar Raja and his team for their excellent nine songs.

In Singapore and Malaysia particularly, the two versions of ‘Jalsa Pannungada’ are rocking the dance floors and radio requests for the songs are at an all-time high. The original version was sung by Tippu, Karthik, Hari Charan, Ranjith and Prem Gi. The remix version mixed by Rapper & Music Composer Prem Gi Amaran was sung by Music Director Deva's Brother Sabesh, Gaana Ulaganathan, Comedian Karunas, Gaana Pazhani and Prem Gi himself. This version is a prototype ‘Gaana meets RnB genre!’

The film’s other song ‘Saroja Saaman Nikalo’ follows second on the club charts, which is double delight for the cast and crew of Chennai-600028.

Hyderabad, April 7: Ace composer Harris Jayaraj is back at the helm of Telugu songs with his album for 'Munna'.

The top five Telugu albums are:

1. 'Munna' - 'Khadulu, Khadulu' and 'Manasa' are among the hit numbers of this lively album.

2. 'Adavari Mattalaku Arthale Verulay' - Venkatesh teams up with Tamil director Raghavan and has extracted good tunes from composer Yuvan Shankar Raj. 'Allantha Doorala' and 'Cheli Chamaku' are catchy.

3. 'Athili Sathibabu' - Director E.V.V. Satyanarayana describes his discovery, composer Srikrishna, as 'a promising talent'. 'Amrutha Varsham La' and 'Ra Ra Ante' are interesting.

4. 'Jagadam' - With the film failing to impress, the lively album of Devisri Prasad is gradually losing its sheen despite chartbusters like 'Violence is a fashion' and '5 feet 8 inches'.

5. 'Allare Allari' - After sensational hit 'Desamuduru', composer Chakri produces catchy tunes like 'Jigijigi Sonaa' and 'Hello Khiladi' for the comedy film.

IndiaGlitz [Monday, April 09, 2007]

Director Vasanth has silently completed the shooting for Sathumpoddathay. A touchy tale featuring Prithviraj and Padmapriya will be ready for release this summer.

Vasanth, a product from KB School, has to his credit successful films like Keladi Kanmani, Ne Padhi Naan Padhi and Nerukku Ner.

Says Vasanth, “I personally feel that the movie should do a lot good to Prithviraj's talent in Tamil. He is such a natural actor in the lines of Mammootty and Jayaram. I have heard of Prithviraj's dedication but to experience that is a different feeling. Padmapriya's role is much more than giving company to the hero in two or three songs. Her character has an equal footing with the hero.”

“It is a movie which would set a new trend in Tamil film industry. The whole cast and crew has contributed their best,” he adds.

He heaped laurels on young Yuvan Shankar Raja for coming up with catchy tunes. The songs are big plus for the movie, Vasanth adds.[/tscii:3953387675]

Ameer decides his next hero
By Behindwoods News Bureau.
April 9, 2007

With Paruthiveeran emerging a true winner, director Ameer is all set to commence his next venture Kannabiran which will be produced and directed by him. Surya's name was also in the fray but it is confirmed that Jeyam Ravi will be associated with Ameer in his next project.

ameer
After a heavy bargaining for call sheet, Ravi has signed on the dotted line. The perfectionist-director wanted a six-month call sheet to which Jeyam Ravi was initially hesitant but later on agreed for a four-month period but when the director still insisted that he wanted six months, the young lad added one more month making it a five-month call sheet. The director had also assured the hero that the movie in all probability may be completed well before six months and having faith in his caliber, the actor is stated to have acceded for a six-month call sheet.

Meanwhile Ameer's sources state that having obtained the call sheet of Jeyam Ravi, the director may use it for another movie and not for Kannabiran as the latter will take a longer time to complete.

Ammer’s previous films had a good response from the Tamil audience, by keeping this in mind now Ammer is seriously preparing for Kannabiran. Regarding this film director has started to access the Heroes for the lead role, before Surya’s name was seen in the Ammer’s list but now director changed the idea to opt another leading and upcoming hero to feature in Kannabiran.

Jayam Ravi, S.J Surya and Jeeva names was under consideration, but finally Ammer ends with Jayam Ravi who is likely to work with Ammer in his forthcoming film Kannabiran. Lets wait for the final star cast from Director Ameer.

Why don't no one speak much about Aadavari Maatalaku Ardhale Verule??

Amazing album from Yuvan!! I THINK this is best of yuvan -selvaraghavan after 7G... I fall in love on two great numbers:

Yemaindhi Ee Vela: I want to fall in love when I listen to this song  ... What a beautiful starting...a person who talk in the starting has an amazing voice... :2thumbsup: when he prononces the word "love" it's just fabulous, this song looks a hindi number of Arr, it's maybe because of
the voice of uditnarayan ( I never listen one song of udit in Ysr album) , the chorus would be sound better if I know the language

Naa Manasuki: once again a good starting, good selection of singers (Karthik and Gayuthri), instruments r well used by YSR,... in first interlude piano notes are very touching...a good melody(duo) from Yuvan after long
time!!!  ...very nice to listen...It's my pick of album!! 8-)

I want YSR to give these particular songs in Tamil!!!! And Selvaragaravan to release this movie in tamil, it's surely a romantic movie!!!

I don't know Munna can beat this album in top audio sales in Telugu   :x

It's worth to listen even if u r tamil :) 8-) :bluejump: :redjump: :2thumbsup:

Teenagers Urge Chennai 600028 to be released on April 27
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, April 12, 2007]

The producers, SP Charan and JK Saravana and the director, Venkat Prabhu, of the much awaited Chennai 600028 received more then 2000 emails urging them to postpone the release of Chennai 600028.

Hence, the team took a last minute decision last night to honor the request of the Indian teenagers.

Currently, the Board Examinations are in progress for students all around Tamil Nadu.

Hundreds of students sent constant emails to the Chennai 600028 Team through their official website, www.chennai600028.com . However, just in the last 3 days the volume of emails grew to thousands.

This clicked the panic button among the young and energetic Chennai 600028 team.

The team has taken a decision which has never been explored before in the Tamil Film Industry!

Hats off to Chennai 600028!!

[tscii:f3dc8e8635]Sanjeevi, here is the Sify version for the postponement:

As a last minute decision Venkat Prabhu’s eagerly awaited maiden directorial venture Chennai 600028 release has been postponed from April 12 to April 27. This hard decision has been taken as there is an acute shortage of theatres to screen the Tamil New Year releases.

Meanwhile the trade is happy about the postponement, as they feel that there are very good reports about the film. It would do better business if it has a better release date, and lesser competition.

The postponement of Chennai 600028 means now it is more or less a straight fight between Mayakannadi and Unnale Unnale, which has got best of the screens in Tamilnadu.

Going the Kamal Haasan way
IndiaGlitz [Thursday, April 19, 2007]

Jeeva is busy shooting for Thamizh MA. He has grown a big moustache and beard for the movie. Expectations are high on the movie since the promos promises that it would be a different film.

Close on the heels of completing Thamizh MA, Jeeva will work with a debutant director Selvam for Rameshwaram. Jeeva plays a Lankan refugee who crosses the shore to reach Tamil Nadu for his survival. He comes across Bhavana and falls in love with her at the first sight.

Jeeva has been rigorously undergoing special training sessions to learn the Sri Lankan Tamil.

A great admirer of Kamal Haasan, Jeeva has watched films like Nala Damayanthy and Thenali several times to learn the language.

SN Raja produces the film for IDA Films. S Selvam is the director. The shooting will start next month.

P.S: BTW, from where did you get the link for the songs? Filby's blog?
