3 Herbal Treatments to remove skin tags that actually work
I could go over the typical remove a skin with duct tape or fingernail polish and they do work but can be painful. Instead, in this article I am going to focus on herbal remedies to treat skin tags. The upside to herbal remedies is that they are less invasive than other "fast" remedies. The downside is that they take a little more time and consistency in order for them to work....
Tea Trea Oil- Tea tree oil works very well for removing skin tags as well as moles. In fact, tea tree oil is used on various skin disorders. To use this all you need is a little tea tree oil and a cotton ball. Soak the cotton ball in the oil and apply it directly to the affected area. Do this once or twice daily for up to 4 weeks or until the skin tag vanishes.
Castor Oil- Most of you are too young to remember castor oil but this oil was used on a wide variety of common ailments and can be taken both internally and externally. The good news is that you will be using castor oil as an external ointment (I still shudder whenever I think of drinking that stuff). Here is what you will do. Take a little baking soda and mix it with the castor oil to create a paste. I suggest you add some citrus oil as it will stink to high heaven. Apply it to the affected area and cover with a band-aid. The typical time it will take is 2-4 weeks before the skin tag vanishes.
Apple Cider Vinegar-Apple cider vinegar works very well for removing skin tags and the good news is that you can buy it in a grocery store for fairly cheap. Just like tea tree oil, you simply dab some of it on a q-tip or cotton ball and apply it directly to the skin tag. Unlike the tea tree oil, Apple Cider vinegar may cause a stinging sensation for a couple minutes after being applied. Typical time until the skin tag vanishes?....2-4 weeks.
Those are just 3 herbal treatments that you can use to remove skin tags. If you don't mind waiting a couple weeks and can discipline yourself to treating the skin tag at least once a day, then these will naturally treat your skin tags from your home.

Back Pain Natural Remedies~
A very common problem from ages in man-kind is the pain in the lower back referred as back pain It can be due to poor postural habits, strains, and also muscle tension. It is also very common in pregnant woman due to the stretching of ligaments around uterus. Here are some remedies for the lower back pain.
1.Keep one warm and eat only hot items incase of a chronic back pain.
2. Garlic should be included in diet on regular basis.
3. Tulsi is the best medicine. Boil tulsi in water until the syrup is reduced to half of actual size and add salt after cooling.
4. Massage with eucalyptus and mustard oil is very favorable for severe back aches
5. Half a tea spoon of jaggery is very effective medicine that can be eaten with warm water after meals only.
6. Cardamom with honey shows the best results at times of back ache.
7. Massage with any ointment will be useful
8. Take a cloth or jute bag full of ice. Now start massaging with that back. It helps to reduce the inflammation in the back.
9. Sleeping on firm mattresses facing to the ceiling helps to have proper blood flow and there by reducing the aches.
10. Exercise is the best way to keep fit from all types of ache.

Good one vElan. People eat lots of fruits thinking that they are straight from mother nature, real, fresh and healthy. Unfortunately in most of the western countries, fruits are sprayed with wax and chemicals to make them ripen fast or slow and to make them look fresh and shiny. A lot of people eat them with no washing or very little washing. Soaking in vinegar is a very good way to clean them. If in a hurry, just wash them with plain soap and running water (under a sink).

The conditions of atherosclerosis and coronary thrombosis are together known as coronary heart disease (CHD). Atherosclerosis is a degenerative disease of the large and medium sized arteries, where the growth of wall tissue and accumulation of cholesterol cause the artery wall to bulge inwards — thus preventing blood flow. The atherosclerotic arteries tend to form blood clots, which in turn is called thrombosis. These blood clots prevent cells in the artery walls from contracting, thus causing myocardial infarction —also known as a heart attack.
Much research has been done to attempt to identify factors that increase the risk of CHD. The following factors all increase the statistical risk:
- Increasing age
- Being male rather than female
- Having a family history of CHD
- Obesity
- Physical inactivity
- High blood pressure
- Tobacco smoking
More equivocally is the effect of diet; there is much evidence for dietary factors increasing the risk of CHD. This is why it’s so important to eat healthy! Trans-fat, saturated fat intake, and cholesterol intake have all been positively correlated with CHD. Trans fats can be found in prepackaged foods like cookies, crackers, and potato chips, as well as fried foods like French fries and doughnuts. Saturated fats can be found in butter, oils, shortening, and the fat in some meat products. In turn, trans fats and saturated fats raise blood cholesterol levels. Home Remedy for bleeding Gums (Pyorrhea)~
Guava: Unripe guava is rich in Vitamin C and is a styptic agent. Chewing raw guava arrests formation of pus in gums and is an excellent home remedy for Pyorrhea. Correct Way Of Cooking Noodles
The correct way to cook instant noodles without harming our bodies and health:
Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for around 3 minutes and then it's ready to eat. This is the WRONG way and dangerous method of cooking the instant noodles like Maggi. By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder,normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structure of the MSG, causing it to be toxic. The other thing that you may or may not realize is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have eaten the noodles.
CORRECT METHOD:
1. Boil the noodles in a pot of water.
2. Once the noodles are cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax.
3. Boil another pot of water, add the cooked noodles into the hot boiling water and then turn off the stove.
4. Only at this stage when the stove is off, and while the water is very hot, add the flavoring powder into the water, to make noodle soup.
5. However, if you need dry noodles, remove the noodles and add the flavoring powder and toss it to get dry noodles.

Chronic headache and neck pain. Is that you?
Text neck is a syndrome seen in people who are involved in excessive texting. It is a repetitive strain injury. Looking down for a long duration with a strained spine can lead to tension in the neck and shoulders, inflammation in the neck muscle and joints and chronic headache.
If not taken care of, text neck can lead to arthritic damage, increased curvature in the spine and even slipped disc.
What can you do to correct it?
- Posture correction: Avoid texting for long periods. When you do, try to keep the neck in neutral position where the ears are aligned with the shoulders.
- Neck extension: Perform neck extension exercises. 1. Raise the chin until a stretch is felt on the neck. 2. Bring the side of the neck alternatively towards right and left until a stretch is felt and neck rotation. If you follow this on a regular basis, it helps strengthen the muscles and keep the pain in check.
- Take frequent breaks between messaging, using iPad etc.
- Heat therapy: Treat your aching neck with hot compress to increase blood circulation and help the muscles relax.
- Stop doing what makes your neck hurt.

In 1919 when the flu killed 40 million people there was this Doctor that visited the many farmers to see if he could help them combat the flu...
Many of the farmers and their families had contracted it and many died.
The doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone was very healthy. When the doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was different the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the rooms of the home, (probably only two rooms back then). The doctor couldn't believe it and asked if he could have one of the onions and place it under the microscope. She gave him one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in the onion. It obviously absorbed the bacteria, therefore, keeping the family healthy.
Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser. She said that several years ago, many of her employees were coming down with the flu, and so were many of her customers. The next year she placed several bowls with onions around in her shop. To her surprise, none of her staff got sick. It must work. Try it and see what happens. We did it last year and we never got the flu.
Now there is a P. S. to this for I sent it to a friend in Oregon who regularly contributes material to me on health issues. She replied with this most interesting experience about onions:
Thanks for the reminder. I don't know about the farmer's story...but, I do know that I contacted pneumonia, and, needless to say, I was very ill... I came across an article that said to cut both ends off an onion put it into an empty jar, and place the jar next to the sick patient at night. It said the onion would be black in the morning from the germs...sure enough it happened just like that...the onion was a mess and I began to feel better.
Another thing I read in the article was that onions and garlic placed around the room saved many from the black plague years ago. They have powerful antibacterial, antiseptic properties.
This is the other note. Lots of times when we have stomach problems we don't know what to blame. Maybe it's the onions that are to blame. Onions absorb bacteria is the reason they are so good at preventing us from getting colds and flu and is the very reason we shouldn't eat an onion that has been sitting for a time after it has been cut open.
LEFT OVER ONIONS ARE POISONOUS
I had the wonderful privilege of touring Mullins Food Products, Makers of mayonnaise. Questions about food poisoning came up, and I wanted to share what I learned from a chemist.
Ed, who was our tour guide, is a food chemistry whiz. During the tour, someone asked if we really needed to worry about mayonnaise. People are always worried that mayonnaise will spoil. Ed's answer will surprise you. Ed said that all commercially-made mayo is completely safe.
"It doesn't even have to be refrigerated. No harm in refrigerating it, but it's not really necessary." He explained that the pH in mayonnaise is set at a point that bacteria could not survive in that environment. He then talked about the summer picnic, with the bowl of potato salad sitting on the table, and how everyone blames the mayonnaise when someone gets sick.
Ed says that, when food poisoning is reported, the first thing the officials look for is when the 'victim' last ate ONIONS and where those onions came from (in the potato salad?). Ed says it's not the mayonnaise (as long as it's not homemade mayo) that spoils in the outdoors. It's probably the ONIONS, and if not the onions, it's the POTATOES.
He explained onions are a huge magnet for bacteria, especially uncooked onions. You should never plan to keep a portion of a sliced onion.. He says it's not even safe if you put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in your refrigerator.
It's already contaminated enough just by being cut open and out for a bit, that it can be a danger to you (and doubly watch out for those onions you put in your hotdogs at the baseball park!). Ed says if you take the leftover onion and cook it like crazy you'll probably be okay, but if you slice that leftover onion and put on your sandwich, you're asking for trouble. Both the onions and the moist potato in a potato salad, will attract and grow bacteria faster than any commercial mayonnaise will even begin to break down.
Also, dogs should never eat onions. Their stomachs cannot metabolize onions.
Please remember it is dangerous to cut an onion and try to use it to cook the next day, it becomes highly poisonous for even a single night and creates toxic bacteria which may cause adverse stomach infections because of excess bile secretions and even food poisoning.

The good news is that you will be using castor oil as an external ointment (I still shudder whenever I think of drinking that stuff). Here is what you will do. Take a little baking soda and mix it with the castor oil to create a paste. I suggest you add some citrus oil as it will stink to high heaven. Apply it to the affected area and cover with a band-aid. The typical time it will take is 2-4 weeks before the skin tag vanishes.
Apple Cider Vinegar-Apple cider vinegar works very well for removing skin tags and the good news is that you can buy it in a grocery store for fairly cheap. Just like tea tree oil, you simply dab some of it on a q-tip or cotton ball and apply it directly to the skin tag. Unlike the tea tree oil, Apple Cider vinegar may cause a stinging sensation for a couple minutes after being applied. Typical time until the skin tag vanishes?....2-4 weeks.
Those are just 3 herbal treatments that you can use to remove skin tags. If you don't mind waiting a couple weeks and can discipline yourself to treating the skin tag at least once a day, then these will naturally treat your skin tags from your home.

He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants
moved away from the styrene foam containers to paper. The dioxin
problem is one of the reasons….
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Cling film, is just as
dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave.
As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually
melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with
a paper towel instead.

15 Helpful Remedies to Relieve Headache Pain & Tension
Headaches often get brushed aside as nothing more than a common complaint, a quit-your-whining-and-start-working type of thing…if only. While many people suffer them at one point or another, rarity is not the best way to judge just how nasty something can be. The pain of a headache can make day-to-day life a miserable challenge, and forces us to head straight for the aspirin. This is a sticky situation, because ultimately that will only perpetuate the problem.
When you take over-the-counter pain killers all you’re doing is smothering your symptoms and ignoring the real issue of what triggers the headache. Natural remedies for headaches may take a bit more thought than simply popping a pill, but don’t brush them off. They won’t wreak havoc on your body like other over-the-counter or prescription pain-killers do, and you’re less likely to become so dependent on them that you need them for every little ache.
1. Crush it with cayenne
Utilizing something spicy may not sound headache helpful, but cayenne is somewhat revered in the kingdom of natural remedies to treat pain and inflammation. The secret behind its success lies in an ingredient called capsaicin, which inhibits something in our body that is one of the main elements in pain perception called Substance P. In short, Substance P is part of what makes us feel pain, and the capsaicin depletes it. Numerous studies, the first in 1998 in The Clinical Journal of Pain, support that when applied topically to the nasal passages; people experience a significant decrease in the severity of their headaches, all thanks to capsaicin.
You will need…
-1/4 teaspoon cayenne powder
-4 ounces of warm water
-cotton swabs
Dilute a ½ teaspoon of cayenne powder in 4 ounces of warm water. Soak a cotton swab in the solution and stir it around to make sure it’s covered-the powder can sometimes sink to the bottom. Apply the moist swab gently to the inside of each nostril until you can feel the heat. It may be a bit unpleasant at first, but take the burning sensation as a sign that it’s working. When it subsides, your headache will hopefully be wiped out, or at the very least better than before.

2. Go nuts
Instead of popping a pill when you get a headache, toss back some almonds. For everyday tension-type headaches, almonds can be a natural remedy and a healthier alternative to other medicine. Some modern day studies have proven its effectiveness in treating certain illnesses, but most of its clout lies in the reports of people throughout the centuries who have benefited from it. If you find yourself coming down with a throbbing headache, try getting some quality ACV time into your day in the form of a steam-style treatment.
You will need…
-1/4 cup of ACV
-Roughly 3 cups of boiling water
-1 cup of fresh cool water
Directions…
Pour ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar into a large bowl, and then fill the bowl halfway with boiling water. Place a towel over your head so that it drapes over the bowl, trapping the steam, and hold your face over it. Make sure your face isn’t so close that it gets burned by the steam. Do this for 5-10 minutes, or when the water starts to cool down, breathing in and out deeply the whole time. When you’re done, use the towel to pat your face dry, and go drink a glass of cool water.
4. Stretch, relax, and breathe
Do yoga: Yoga will get your mind focused, stretch out your muscles, and get you moving in ways that can help you drop the tension-and if you drop the tension, you can drop the tension-headache. Just doing a few moves when the pain starts up can help, but the best thing to do is a set aside a few minutes each day to practice regularly and prevent headaches before they happen.
Breathe: You may think your breathing alright, but if your head is pounding you’re likely not getting the most out of the oxygen you take in. In general we take breaths that are too shallow, and when we are experiencing pain or stress, we definitely breathe to shallow. Make a conscious effort to take deep, full, breaths that start in your diaphragm and fill up your lungs. This will get your plenty of fresh oxygen circulating through your blood and will also help relax your mind and body.
5. Get moving
Stay regular: Exercising only when you feel like it is less likely to prevent headaches then exercising on a regular basis. Routine also gives your body just that-routine. Routine helps us function, at least physically, better than we might if we didn’t have any.
Warm up and cool down: Take your time getting yourself warmed up and properly cooled down. Jumping into strenuous activities and then abruptly stopping is more likely to cause a headache then stop it.
Enjoy the outdoors: If possible, exercise outside. The invigorating fresh air and change in scenery does something that just makes our bodies and minds feel good.
6. Drink fish oil
There are some small-scale studies that show the ingestion of fish oil can help reduce migraines and head pain, thanks to its omega-3 fatty acids, which promotes heart health. The American Heart Association states that the ingredients in fish oil may help reduce inflammation, blood clotting, lower blood pressure, and steady heart rhythm. Those actions in turn may help reduce head pain because it may reduce the inflammation of blood cells that press and pinch on nerves.
You will need…
-1 tablespoon of fish oil OR fish oil oral supplements
-1 glass of orange juice
Directions
If you are taking fish oil capsules, follow the dosing on the bottle. If using the actual oil, mix a tablespoon into a glass of cold orange juice and drink up! It’s really not as bad as it sounds.
7. Hot or cold?
Headaches are tricksy little things, with what clears them up for one person totally triggering them for another. There’s evidence to support both hot and cold compress treatments, and it all has to do with the muscles and blood vessels. Some headaches are caused, at least in part, by expanded blood vessel pressing on nerves. For these, applying something cold to the area can constrict those vessels and relieve some of the pressure causing the throbbing ache. Other headaches are caused by tension and anxiety, and cold tends to tighten up muscles that then pinch nerves and enlarge blood vessels. You’ll have to play around to see if you’re someone who benefits from cold/ cool treatment or hot/warm, while some people find alternating between the two works best.
You will need…
1. Cold compress, such as a bag of frozen peas, a bag of ice, or a cold pack.
2. Hot compress, such as a towel soaked in very warm water.
Directions
Find a quiet place to lie down, preferably where you can dim the lights or turn them off. Place the cold or hot compress on your forehead and relax. At some point, try switching to the back of your head, or the top, depending on where the pain is concentrated. You can also try a cold compress at one location and a hot compress on another, either on your head, or place the hot compress on your shoulders if your headache is from tension. Do this for as long as you feel you need to. Try sipping fresh water through a straw if you can manage during or after the treatment, and make sure to ease back into your daily routine-don’t just dash onto a crowded street in blinding sunlight.
Tip: Here’s how to make a good hot compress at home that won’t least its heat as quickly as a warm washcloth.
8. Improve your posture
Improving your posture can make all the difference in the world when it comes to tension-type headaches. Many of us spend our days working in an office or sitting down at a computer with little to no movement, and many of us are guilty of poor posture. We slouch, slump, and hunch forward, which strains our muscles and creates nasty headaches. Try using an ergonomic chair if you’re sitting down a lot, and make a conscious effort to sit up tall but relaxed, with your shoulders back, your chest open, and your neck not sticking too far forward. Working on strengthening core muscles helps a lot with posture, since balance and the strength to support ourselves properly comes from mostly from our center.
9. Use your imagination
Mental imagery has been shown to reduce headaches, whether mild or severe, by helping people relax and loosen up the knots that may be causing the pain. There are guided imagery coaches, but you can also do this on your own. Imagery exercises create a “mental scape” that is calm, peaceful, and pain free-your happy place, if you will. To work on your ‘scape, try the following.

Find a quiet place to close your eyes and use your mind to fill your head with something other than pain. Picture rolling hills or waves lapping over sand, even just creating a landscape of soothing colors can be helpful. Try adding a quiet soundtrack to this exercise; be it sounds of nature or just a soft song that calms you down. Breathe and be patient. Also, be patient. And then be a little more patient. Don’t get worked up because your headache isn’t gone after you spent 30 seconds impatiently picturing a tree, this stuff takes practice and some dedication (and patience) but it’s worth i
10. Munch on gingerroot
If you’re getting knocked with a migraine, it can help quell your nausea. Simply sip a nice steaming cup of gingerroot tea and relax while you wait for your headache to ease up.
You will need…
-3 quarter size slices of gingerroot
-2 cups of water
Slice 3 slices off of a piece of raw gingerroot, with each being roughly the size of a quarter. Gently simmer the pieces of ginger in 2 cups of water, covered, for 30 minutes. Use something to remove the pieces of ginger and transfer to a mug, or if you prefer, leave them in. Sip slowly and breathe in the steam if you want. Relax!
11. Apply peppermint oil
Peppermint oil has a wonderfully soothing effect when you’re suffering from a headache, easing the discomfort and clearing your mind. It can be applied to various places, and people who use it find that it works quickly to relieve pain. If you have sensitive skin and find that it irritates it, try diluting it with a bit of olive oil or water.

Massage the peppermint oil onto your temples, the back of your jaw, and forehead. You will feel a cooling sensation upon applying it. Breathe deeply, and if possible, find a quiet place to relax and sip some cool water.

13. Know your facts about B3
Vitamin B3, also known as niacin, is a water-soluble B vitamin that may trigger vascular headaches, thanks to something called a “flush.” Niacin dilates (opens up) the body’s blood vessel, right down to the small capillaries, which increases blood flow. While it can be helpful in some cases, it may cause a headache triggered by the pounding blood flow and possible nerve pressure caused by it. It’s best to talk to a healthcare practitioner about B3 to know how you should properly take, or if it will be helpful.
14. Grab a pencil
Holding a pencil between your teeth (holding, not biting or clenching your jaw) can help a tension headache dissipate. The actual physical action of holding the pencil between your teeth activates your “smile” muscles, relaxing your jaw. We often times clench our teeth when stressed and this in turn strains the muscle connecting the jaw to the temples and causes a tension headache. Again, make sure your jaw is relaxed and the pencil is held lightly between your teeth.
15. Drink up
On average we don’t drink enough water daily, and that alone is cause for a headache. Coffee, alcohol, sugary drinks-all can dehydrate you (hence the pounding headache that comes along with a hangover) and should be avoided. As soon as your head starts to hurt, drink a tall glass of water, and then sip throughout the day. Gradually the pain will start to ease up, and you’ll be hurting less and well-hydrated to boot. Simply drinking water may seem too obvious or simple to actually work as a headache remedy but it can, and often time’s does. We humans often just seem to feel the need to make things more complicated than they are.

Henna Hair Pack
Ingredients Needed
5 tablespoons of commercially available henna
3 tablespoons of yogurt
Juice from one big lemon
Hair oil
1 whole egg
1 cup of black tea
Using Henna for Hair Conditioning and Coloring
Take a bowl and pour 5 tablespoons of dry henna powder into it. Now add 3 tablespoons of yogurt to the powder and beat the two thoroughly so as to make a thick paste.
Now add the one cup of black tea to the paste and keep beating the concoction while you add the lemon juice to it, after which you should let the preparation remain intact and untouched for about 3 hours.
Once you are ready to apply the paste onto your hair, add a whole egg into the paste and once gain beat the concoction until it's a bit wet and slippery.
Add some more tea water if the concoction is too thick and is not falling off the spoon.
The next thing to remember is that you will be required to wear plastic workshop gloves so as to protect your hands from catching the color of the henna while applying it to your hair.
You will also need a thin dye brush with which you will need to apply the henna paste uniformly all over your hair.
Before you begin applying the pack, you must remember to oil your hair thoroughly. This is a must because oil protects the hair from absorbing too much of the color. It also helps condition your hair in advance and makes it faster for the hair follicles to absorb the nutrients from the henna. Leave your hair be for about ½ an hour after which you must start applying the henna paste.
Now take one patch or chunk of hair at a time and apply ample amounts of henna to the hair. Remember to begin from the roots or the scalp until the tip of the hair. Ensure that all the hair cuticles are thoroughly coated with the henna hair pack.
Once you are finished coating all the sections on the scalp, you will need to bring all the sections together so as to create a uniform hair bun.
Now you should cover your hair with a shower cap as it's the easiest to wash and does not catch the reddish color of henna. Let the cap remain for 3-4 hours, after which you must wash it off with warm water.
The henna will prove a bit resilient and will require that you massage it clean from the scalp and the hair strands. Use a mild shampoo after most of the henna has been washed off with water.
Allow your hair to dry slightly, after washing it with shampoo, after which you should apply a very thin coat of oil all over your hair. This will prevent the hair from looking frizzy and will make the maintenance more manageable.
Allow your hair to dry in the sun or air dry. Do not blow dry it if you can avoid it. You will notice how soft and shiny your hair feels. You will need to repeat this treatment every 3 weeks in order to notice the beneficial changes taking place in your hair. You will notice that your hair fall has reduced and that the quality of your hair has improved substantially.

NO MORE WRINKLES:
Wrinkles may look adorable on a puppy. On the human body, they're considered less appealing. Most people believe that ageing of the skin is inevitable and do not care much. However, what you need to know is that with a few lifestyle modifications and some tender loving care, you really can look as young as you feel. To help put you on the right path, here are a few tips that you should stick to in order to keep your skin looking as young as possible:
1. AVOID EXCESSIVE EXPOSURE TO SUN:
It’s the no. 1 cause of wrinkles. Protect your skin from sun rays firstly by staying indoors while the sun is strongest. Secondly get into the habit of wearing a sunscreen with a good SPF every time you go out. Apply it at least 20 to 30 minutes before stepping out in the sun and reapply it every few hours.
2. DRINK LOTS OF WATER:
Insufficient hydration is the second major cause of excessive wrinkles. In order to stay moist and elastic, your skin needs a constant supply of water. If you fail to get enough fluids in your body, cells will start to lose elasticity and eventually wrinkles shall start surfacing.
3. QUIT SMOKING:
Apart from the many well-documented ill-effects of smoking on the body, smoking also causes premature ageing of the skin mainly by reducing blood supply and nourishment to the skin. This makes the skin lose its elasticity and moisture. Also while smoking, some repetitive actions like squinting to protect the eyes from aggressive fumes and constantly dragging the cigarette fumes into his/her mouth causes wrinkles over time at the corners of the eyes and the mouth.
4. GET ADEQUATE SLEEP:
When you don’t get enough sleep, the body produces excess cortisol – a hormone that breaks down skin cells. Get enough rest and you’ll produce more HGH (human growth hormone), which helps skin remain thick, more elastic and less likely to wrinkle.
5. SLEEP ON YOUR BACK:
Make it a point to pay attention to the way you sleep. Sleeping on the side will create ‘cleavage’ wrinkles, since skin on that surface is being squeezed together. Those who sleep on the chest will most likely develop sleep lines on their neck, face and chest as a consequence of being crushed into the pillow throughout the whole night. To reduce wrinkle formation, sleep on your back.
6. EAT HEALTHY FOOD:
Consume a lot of vitamins that come from fresh vegetables and fruits as well nuts and seeds, which are all effective anti-ageing foods due to the amount of anti-oxidants they all pack.
7. KEEP STRESS AT BAY:
Stress causes creation of certain hormones like cortisol which decrease muscular tissue beneath the skin. This makes your skin thinner and make it look wrinkled and old.
8. USE A MOISTURIZER:
Many women these days are so concerned with anti-aging products they often overlook the power of a simple moisturizer. Skin that is moist simply looks better, so lines and creases are far less noticeable.
9. DON'T OVERWASH YOUR FACE:
Tap water strips skin of its natural barrier oils and moisture that protect against wrinkles. Wash them off too often, and you wash away protection. Moreover, unless your soap contains moisturizers, you should use a cleanser instead.
10. CONSULT YOUR DERMATOLOGIST:
If you’d like to use creams, lotions and various other chemical and surgical options (like peels, fillers, lasers and botox) to fight skin-ageing, it’s recommended that you visit your dermatologist who’ll guide you well.
Following home remedies to reduce wrinkles are worth noting:
#Take 1 tbsp of cold milk and add 3-4 drops of lime juice. Rub this paste well into the wrinkles before going to sleep. The next morning wash with warm water and dry with a rough towel firmly. Once again rub in the cream - in the direction opposite to the wrinkles. Wait for ½ an hour and wash, avoid using soap.
#Rub the pulp of a ripe Papaya on the face and leave for ½ an hour before washing. This is a very good toner also.
#Rub almond oil on the wrinkles in upward strokes. Leave overnight and wash with warm water next morning.
#Cut open a Vitamin -E capsule, add ½ tsp of glycerine and apply. Wash after 15- 20 minutes.
#Add ½ tsp honey to 1 tsp rice powder. Smoothen the lines with this paste. Leave for ½ an hour and wash.
#Mix 1 tsp honey with 1 tsp of milk cream. Apply well. Wash after 20 minutes.
NOTE: Treatment for wrinkles should be done everyday for a period of 30 - 40 days to have visible results.

வேர்கடலை கொழுப்பு அல்ல!
வேர்கடலை என்றதுமே முதலில் நினைவுக்கு வருவது அதில் உள்ள கொழுப்புச் சத்து தான். இதனால் உடல் பருமன் கூடும், இரத்த அழுத்தம் அதிகரிக்கும். இதய நோய்கள் போன்ற பிரச்சனைகள் வரும் என்ற நம்பிக்கை தான் இருந்து வருகின்றது.
ஆனால் வருகின்ற ஆராய்ச்சிகளில் இந்த நம்பிக்கைகளுக்கு எந்த ஒரு ஆதாரமுமில்லை என்றே தெரிகிறது. காரணம் வேர்கடலையில் உடலுக்கு தேவையான நல்ல கொழுப்பு சத்தும் அதனுடன் அதிகமான புரத சத்தும் இருக்கின்ற படியால் அவை உடலுக்கு தீங்கு விளைவிப்பதில்லை. முக்கியமாக சர்க்கரை நோயாளிகளுக்கு உகந்த ஆரோக்கியமான உணவாகும். ஏனெனில் இதிலுள்ள சர்க்கரையின் அளவு இரத்தத்தில் மிக மிக குறைந்த அளவே சேருவதால் பயமில்லாமல் சாப்பிடலாம். மேலும் இதில் இருக்கும் மெக்னீசியம் என்ற வேதிப்பொருள் இன்சுலினை சுரக்கச் செய்யும் ஹார்மோனை துரிதப்படுத்தி சர்க்கரையின் அளவை கட்டுப்படுத்துகிறது. ஆகவே இவர்கள் அன்றாட உணவில் தைரியமாக வேர்க்கடலையை சேர்த்துக் கொள்ளலாம்.
வேர்கடலையில் ரத்த அழுத்தத்தை அதிகப்படுத்தும் சோடியத்தின் அளவு மிகவும் குறைவாக காணப்படுவதால் வேர்க்கடலை சாப்பிடுபவர்களுக்கு ரத்த அழுத்தம் அதிகரிக்காது. மாறாக ரத்த கொதிப்பு குறையும். வேர்கடலையில் நைட்ரிக் அமிலம் என்ற வேதிப் பொருள் உள்ளது. இவை வேர்க்கடலையைச் சாப்பிடுவதன் மூலம் உடம்பில் உற்பத்தியாகும் நைட்ரேட் ரத்தக் குழாய்களை விரிவடையச் செய்வதால் ரத்த ஓட்டம் சீராகிறது. மேலும் இதில் காணப்படும் ஆன்ட்டி ஆக்ஸடென்ட்ஸ் போன்ற உயிர் வேதிப் பொருட்கள் மாரடைப்பு போன்ற இருதய நோய்கள் உருவாக்காமல் தடுக்கிறது. வேர்க்கடலை நார்ச்சத்து மிகுந்த உணவு என்பதால் வேர்கடலை சாப்பிட்டால் மலசிக்கல் ஏற்படாது. ஆகவே கர்ப்பிணிகள் கூட வேர்க்கடலையை சாப்பிடுவது நல்லது.
வேர்க்கடலையின் தோலை நீக்காமல் சாப்பிட வேண்டும். ஏனெனில் அதில் தான் நிறையச் சத்துக்கள் அடங்கியுள்ளது. மேலும் வேர்க்கடலையைப் பச்சையாகச் சாப்பிடுவதைவிட, வேர்க்கடலையை அவித்தோ, வறுத்தோ சாப்பிடுவதால் சிலருக்கு ஏற்படும் அஜீரணத்தை தவிர்க்கலாம். பொதுவாக உடல எடையை குறைப்பவர்கள் நொறுக்கு தீணிக்கு பதிலாக வேர்க்கடலையை சாப்பிடலாம், ஏனெனில் இவை சாப்பிட்ட திருப்தி விரைவிலேயே கிடைப்பதால் மேலும் மேலும் எதையாவது சாப்பிட்டு உடல் எடையை கூட்டும் நிலை வராது. ஆனாலும் இதில் உடல் எடையைக் கூட்டும் புரத சத்து அதிகமிருப்பதால் அளவோடு சாப்பிடவது தான் இவர்களுக்கு நல்லது. இதிலுள்ள கால்சியம் மற்றும் வைட்டமின் டி ஆரோக்கியமான எலும்பு மற்றும் பற்களின் வளர்ச்சிக்கு உதவுவதோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல் முதுமையில் ஏற்படும் ஆஸடியொபோராசிஸ் என்ற எலும்பு சம்பந்தமான நோயையும் தடுக்க உதவுகிறது.
வேர்கடலையில் இருக்கும் சில வேதிப் பொருட்கள் புற்றுநோய், உருவாக்கக் காரணமாகும் செல்களை அழித்துவிடுகின்றன. குறிப்பாக மலக்குடல் புற்றுநோய் உருவாக்காமல் தடுக்கிறது. மேலும் பார்க்கின்ஸன், அல்ஸீமர், போன்ற ஞாபக மறதி நோய்கள் வராமல் தடுக்க வேர்கடலை உதவுகிறது. வேர்க்கடலையில் உள்ள உயிர் வேதிப்கொருள்கள் நரம்பு செல்களை நன்றாகச் செயல்படத் தூண்டிவிடுகின்றன.

தற்போது லண்டன் பல்கலைக்கழக கல்லூரியில் இருக்கும் ஆய்வாளர்கள் இந்த தொடர்புக்கான காரணியை கண்டறிந்திருப்பதாக அறிவித்திருக்கிறார்கள். மனிதர்களின் பசியைத்தூண்டும் நொதிமத்தின் பெயர் க்ரெலின். பசியைத்தூண்டும் இந்த க்ரெலின் என்கிற நொதிமத்தை இந்த எப்டிஓ என்கிற மரபணுக்கள் சிலருக்கு அதிகம் சுரப்பது தான் அவர்களை அதிகம் சாப்பிடத் தூண்டுவதாகவும், அதன் விளைவாக அவர்கள் அதிக பருமனும் உடல் எடையும் உள்ளவர்களாக மாறுவதாகவும் இந்த ஆய்வாளர்கள் தெரிவித்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

இப்படிப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு பசியைத்தூண்டும் நொதிமமான க்ரெலின் சுரப்பை குறைக்கவல்ல புரோட்டீன் சத்து அதிகம் இருக்கும் உணவுகள் சாப்பிடக் கொடுப்பது அவர்களின் உடல் எடையை குறைக்க உதவும் என்றும் இவர்கள் யோசனை தெரிவித்திருக்கிறார்கள்.
இந்த ஆய்வின் முடிவுகள் முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்தவை என்று கூறும் சென்னையில் இருக்கும் மருத்துவ நிபுணர் கவுசல்யாநாதன், புரதச்சத்து அதிகம் உள்ள உணவை சாப்பிடுவதன் மூலம் தேவைக்கதிகமான உடல்பருமனுடன் இருப்பதை கட்டுப்படுத்தலாம் என்று யோசனை தெரிவித்தார்.

1. Baking soda is one of the best ingredients that you can use to get rid of your yellow teeth. You can make a whitening mouthwash with baking soda by mixing two tablespoon of baking soda with one cup of cold water.

5. Salt is one of the fundamental dental cleansing agents used since ages as it helps to replenish the lost mineral content of the teeth and help them to regain their whiteness. You can use common salt regularly each morning as a toothpowder instead of toothpaste.
6. You can also clean your teeth with fresh orange peel on regular basis in order to reduce the yellow tinge accumulated on your teeth.
7. Banana peel:1. Brush your teeth as usual with a natural toothpaste or you can use the banana peel first and then brush. Use a ripe banana as it has the most potassium content in it. Peel from the bottom end as this is how monkeys peel their bananas and it will keep you from having all those loose threads.
2, Take a piece of the inside of the banana peel and gently rub around on your teeth for about 2 minutes. The amazing minerals in the peel like potassium, magnesium and manganese absorb into your teeth and whiten them.
3. Repeat the same procedure at night or before bedtime, to whiten teeth. Leaving the banana peel on longer is optional if you have stains that need to come off.

Be Careful when eating apples. Please check skin of the apples before eating because it's may be coated with wax. Check before you eat many of the fruits. Wax is being used for preservation purposes and cold storage. You might be surprised especially apples from USA and other parts are more than one year old, though it would look fresh. DON'T EAT FRUIT AFTER MEALS!
FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.
It will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.
FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.
In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil....
Eat fruit on an empty stomach or before meals! People complain, "Every time I eat watermelon I burp; when I eat apples, my stomach bloats up; when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc ” This will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. Drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.
Eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. Shock is the clinical expression of circulatory failure that results in inadequate cellular oxygen utilization. Shock is a common condition in critical care, affecting about one third of patients in the intensive care unit.
There are essentially four phases in the treatment of shock, and therapeutic goals and monitoring need to be adapted to each phase. In the first (salvage) phase, the goal of therapy is to achieve a blood pressure level and cardiac output compatible with immediate survival. Minimal monitoring is needed; in most cases, invasive monitoring can be restricted to arterial and central venous catheters. Lifesaving procedures (e.g., surgery for trauma, pericardial drainage, revascularization for acute myocardial infarction, and antibiotics for sepsis) are needed to treat the underlying cause. In the second (optimization) phase, the goal is to increase cellular oxygen availability, and there is a narrow window of opportunity for interventions targeting hemodynamic status. பாகற்காயின் மருத்துவக் குணங்கள் பற்றிய சில தகவல்கள்.
கசக்கும் காய் என்றாலும் பாகற்காயை சமையலில் சேர்த்துக் கொள்வதில் இருந்தே இதன் முக்கியத்துவம் புரியும். அதிலுள்ள சத்துக்களை பட்டியலிடுவோம்...
* பாகற்காயின் அறிவியல் பெயர் மொமோர்டிகா சாரன்டியா. தெற்கு ஆசியாவை தாயகமாகக் கொண்டவை. தற்போது ஆசியநாடுகள் முழுமையும் பரவலாக விளைகிறது. ஆண்டு முழுவதும் சந்தையில் விற்பனைக்கு கிடைக்கும்.
* குறைந்த ஆற்றல் வழங்குபவை பாகற்காய்கள். 100 கிராம் பாகற்காயில் 17 கலோரி ஆற்றலே உடலுக்கு கிடைக்கிறது.
* பாகற்காயின் விதைகள் எளிதில் ஜீரணமாகும் நார்ப்பொருட்கள், தாதுஉப்புக்கள், வைட்டமின்கள், நோய் எதிர்ப்பு பொருட்களைக் கொண்டது.

வெங்காயம்: வெங்காயத்தைத் தொடர்ந்து உண்டு வந்தால் இரத்தத்தின் கொலஸ்ட்ரால் அளவு குறைவதோடு இரத்தத்தின் உறை தன்மையும், ஒட்டும் தன்மையும் குறைவதால் மாரடைப்பு நோய் வரவே வராது.
மாரடைப்பு போன்ற இருதய நோய்கள் வராமல் தடுக்கும் சக்தி வெங்காயத்திற்கு உண்டு என்று பல ஆராய்ச்சிகள் மூலம் தெளிவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இரத்தக் குழாய்களில் அடைப்பு ஏற்பட்டு மாரடைப்பு வந்தவர்களும் கூட தினமும் 100 கிராம் வெங்காயத்தைத் தொடர்ந்து உண்டு வந்தால் படிப்படியாக இருதய ரத்த நாளங்களில் உள்ள அடைப்புகள் கரைந்து மறைந்துவிடுவதாக நிரூபிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
ஆப்பிள்: இதில் உள்ள `பெக்டின்' என்ற நார்ச்சத்து இரத்தத்தின் கொலஸ்ட்ரால் அளவைக் குறைப்பது ஆய்வுகளின் மூலம் நிரூபிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இரத்தத்தில் கொலஸ்ட்ரால் அதிகம் உள்ளவர்கள் தினம் இரண்டு ஆப்பிள் பழங்களைத் தொடர்ந்து மூன்று மாதங்கள் சாப்பிட்டு வந்தால், கொலஸ்ட்ரால் அளவு 10லிருந்து 15 சதவிகிதம் வரை குறைந்துவிடுகிறது. ஆப்பிள் பழத்தில் நோய் எதிர்ப்பு சக்தி அதிகமுள்ளது.
அன்னாசி: இரத்தக் குழாய்களில் ஏற்படும் அடைப்பை நீக்குவதில் அன்னாசி சிறந்து விளங்குகிறது. மேலும், அன்னாசிப் பழத்தை தொடர்ந்து உண்டு வந்தால் இரத்தத்தில் உறையும் தன்மை குறைவதோடு, இரத்தக் குழாய்களில் உள்ள அடைப்புகளும் நீங்கும்.

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama nominated Vivek Murthy, MD, MBA, a hospitalist and instructor at Harvard, as the next Surgeon General of the United States, the White House announced Thursday.
If the 36-year-old Murthy is confirmed by the Senate, he will become the first Indian American to hold the position as the nation's leading spokesperson on matters of public health. The Surgeon General is the head of the U.S. Public Health Service.
Murthy is the co-founder and former president of Doctors for America, an organization originally called Doctors for Obama, which campaigned for Obama's re-election.
Doctors for America says its mission is to "ensure that everyone has access to affordable, high quality healthcare."
Alice Chen, MD, executive director of Doctors for America, said in a statement that Murthy has been "a tireless leader in bringing together 16,000 doctors and medical students from all 50 states for the common cause of improving the health of the nation."
In 2011, Obama appointed Murthy to serve as a member of the surgeon general's advisory group on prevention, health promotion, and integrative and public health -- a position created by the Affordable Care Act.
Murthy has been active in HIV/AIDS education for nearly 20 years. In 1995, he co-founded VISIONS Worldwide, a nonprofit organization that helps train students and others in India to run AIDS-prevention efforts.
Having received his undergraduate degree at Harvard, Murthy received both his MD and MBA degrees from Yale.
If confirmed, Murthy would replace Regina Benjamin, MD, who left the post in July. Boris D. Lushniak, MD, has been serving as acting Surgeon General.

இப்போது சிறுநீரகக் கல் பிரச்சினை மிக அதிகமான அளவில் உள்ளது. இப்போது பெண்களுக்கும் அதிக அளவில் வர ஆரம்பித்துள்ளது.

Years pass by and our kidneys are filtering the blood by removing salt, poison and any unwanted entering our body. With time, the salt accumulates and this needs to undergo cleaning treatments and how are we going to overcome this?

* சிறிது தண்ணீ*ரில் ஒரு கரண்டி ஓமம் போட்டு கொதிக்க வைத்து, அதில் 100 மில்லி தேங்காய் எண்ணெயை விட்டு மீண்டும் கொதிக்க விட்டு வடிகட்டிகொள்ளுங்கள். வடிகட்டியதோடு கற்பூரப் பொடியைக் கலந்து இளஞ்சூட்டுடன் இடுப்பில் நன்றாகத் தேய்த்து வர இடுப்பு வலி நீங்கும்.
* வெண்டைக்காய் விதையைக் கொஞ்சம் பார்லி கஞ்சியில் போட்டு காய்ச்சி மூன்று நாள் வரை சாப்பிட்டு வந்தால் சிறுநீர் கழிக்கும்போது ஏற்படும் எரிச்சல் இல்லாமல் போகும்.
* உணவு சாப்பிடுவதற்கு அரை மணி நேரத்திற்கு முன்னதாக தினசரி அரை டீ ஸ்பூன் ஆலிவ் எண்ணெய்யைச் சாப்பிட்டு வந்தால், ரத்தக் குழாயில் கொழுப்பு படியாமல் தடுக்கலாம்.
* வாய்ப்புண் உள்ளவர்களுக்கு காரம் என்றால் ஆகாது. அதனால், முடிந்த வரை காரத்தைக் குறைத்துச் சாப்பிடுங்கள். தேங்காய்த் துண்டுகளைச் சாப்பிட்டு வந்தால் வாய்ப்புண் எளிதில் ஆறும்.
* ஜாதிக்காயைச் சிறு சிறு துண்டுகளாகச் சீவி, அதை நெய்விட்டு வறுத்து சாப்பிட்டு வந்தால் சீதளபேதி குணமாகும். இந்த பாதிப்பு உள்ளவர்கள் தயிர், மோர், இளநீர் ஆகியவற்றை அதிகம் உட்கொள்வது நல்லது.
* துளசி மனித மூளைக்கு வலிமையைக் கொடுக்கக்கூடியது. அதற்கு, துளசி இலையை ஒரு டம்ளரில் பறித்துப் போட்டு ஊற வைத்து, அந்தத் நீரைக் குடித்து வந்தால் மூளை பலம் பெறும்.
* தொண்டைப் புண் பாதிப்பு குணமான பிறகு கொஞ்சம் மிளகைத் தூளாக இடித்து, அதில் வெல்லம், நெய் கலந்து உருட்டி விழுங்கி வந்தால் அந்த பாதிப்பு முற்றிலும் குணமாகும்.

4. அடிப்பட்டதினால் ஏற்பட்ட இரத்தக் கட்டு உள்காயங்களை நீக்க மஞ்சளை பற்று போடுவார்கள்.
5. வெறும் மஞ்சள் பொடியை புண்கள் மீது தூவ புண்கள் ஆறும்.
6. மஞ்சளுடன் வேப்பிலையை அரைத்துப் பூச அம்மையினால் ஏற்பட்ட கொப்புளங்கள் ஆறும்.

* பாதாம் பருப்பு, தேன் மற்றும் தயிர்ஆகியவற்றை சம அளவு எடுத்து முகத்தில் தடவி சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து கழுவினால்,முகத்தின் பொலிவு அதிகரிக்கும்.
* தேன் மற்றும் பால் கலந்து முகத்தில் பூசி சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து கழுவினாலும்,முகம் பொலிவுடன் காணப்படும்.
* கோதுமை தவிடுடன் பால் கலந்து கரும்புள்ளிகள் உள்ள இடத்தில் தடவி வர சிறிது நாட்களில் கரும்புள்ளிகள் மறைந்து விடும்.
* தேன் மூன்று டேபிள் ஸ்பூன் எடுத்துக் கொண்டு அத்துடன், ஒரு டீஸ்பூன் லவங்கப்பட்டை தூள் கலந்து கரும்புள்ளிகள் உள்ள இடத்தில் தேய்த்து, சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து வெதுவெதுப்பான நீரால் கழுவினால் கரும்புள்ளிகள் மறையும்.

* முல்தானி மட்டியுடன் வெள்ளரிச் சாறு கலந்து கரும்புள்ளிகள் உள்ள இடங் களில் தடவி காய்ந்த பின் கழுவ வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு வாரம் ஒரு முறை செய்து வர நாளடைவில் கரும்புள்ளிகள் மறையும்.
* ரோஜா இதழ் மற்றும் பாதாம் பருப்பை அரைத்து முகத்தில் தேய்த்து, சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து கழுவி வர, கரும்புள்ளிகள் மறையும்.
* கடலை எண்ணெய் மற்றும் எலுமிச்சம் பழச்சாறு சம அளவு கலந்து அவற்றை கரும்புள்ளிகள் உள்ள இடத்தில் தேய்த்து 15 நிமிடங்கள் கழித்து கழுவலாம்.
* உருளைக்கிழங்கு சாறை தடவி சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து கழுவினால், கரும்புள்ளிகள் மறையும்.
* எலுமிச்சை சாறு மற்றும் கிளிசரின் கலந்து கரும்புள்ளிகள் மீது தடவி வர, அவை நாளடைவில் மறைந்து விடும்.
* வெள்ளரிச்சாறு, புதினா சாறு, எலுமிச்சை பழச்சாறு ஆகியவைகளை சம அளவில் கலந்து முகத்திலுள்ள கரும்புள்ளிகள் மீது தேய்த்து வந்தால் கரும்புள்ளிகள் போய்விடும்.
* முட்டையின் வெள்ளைக் கருவை நன்றாக அடித்து, முகத்தில் தேய்த்து காய்ந்ததும், அவற்றின் மீது தண்ணீர் தடவி தேய்த்தால், கரும்புள்ளிகள் நீங்கும்.

Ginger
Talk about finding a pain relieving herb right in your kitchen! An anti-inflammatory herb used by the Chinese since ancient times, ginger targets pain caused by arthritis, headaches, menstrual cramps and muscle soreness. [3] The anti-inflammatory properties of ginger have been widely recognized that a study in 2005 demonstrates its effectiveness over other anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin. [4]
Ginger can be directly applied to the affected area or sipped as syrup or tea especially during chilly weather. Its root may be boiled and drank or inhaled when applied in warm baths. [1]
Devil's Claw
This South African herb indeed does have devilish properties when it comes to attacking hip or knee pain. Research suggests it can reduce osteo-arthritic related pain by as much as 25 percent, significantly improving mobility within a few weeks. [5]
Another 2007 study has found the analgesic and anti-inflammatory characteristics of devil's claw to reduce medication usage among 60% of participants suffering from back, neck and rheumatic pain just after 8 weeks of using devil's claw.
White Willow
If there's an "oldest" home pain remedy, it'll probably be the white willow which was used since 500 B.C. in China. [5] It's known to alleviate back, osteo-arthritic and nerve pain. [6]
Available in extracts or as tea, white willow contains the substance - acetylsalicylic acid - used to make aspirin. It thus mimics the healing powers of aspirin in a gradual manner but may cause less of the common side effects of aspirin. [7]
Turmeric
Another easily accessible herb as it's the same spice found in curry. Turmeric, with its active compound, curcumin, is potent due to its ability to improve blood circulation and reduce clotting. Hence, it's commonly used when you have a sprain, bruise, inflamed joints, or even suffering from skin and digestive issues. [3]
Valerian
This same herbal root that promotes sleep is also a natural pain reliever because of its ability to calm the nervous system. Consequently, aside from remedying insomnia, tension and anxiety, it can reduce nerve sensitivity to drive down pain. [3] Valerian can also be taken as tea or as a supplement.
While these herbs may not be as fast acting as your typical painkiller, they do their jobs safer and with longer lasting results.
Together with a holistic approach such as combining herbal treatments with a healthy diet, therapeutic exercises, and stress releasing techniques like meditation [7] , you can help your body treat not just the pain symptoms but also the root cause for a pain-free, active lifestyle.
Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
This herb is probably one of the most popular natural treatments for pain. Licorice is rich in glycyrrhizin compound that is known to block and relieve inflammation. It also helps in preventing the occurrence of side effects of cortisol such as anxiety and fatigue.
When taken, licorice acts as the body’s natural corticosteroids that prevent inflammation. It also helps in reducing the level of free radicals on the site of inflammation as well as in preventing the production of enzymes that promote inflammation. [8] Licorice is also an excellent herb for the treatment of sore throat, however, it is not recommended for people diagnosed with hypertension. [9]
Furthermore, licorice helps in treating inflammation and pain caused by stomach ulcer, gastritis, eczema, bronchitis, arthritis, sore throat and heartburn. It also works by reducing the inflammation associated with stomach ulcer. It stimulates the production of mucin which protects the mucous membranes of the digestive tract against the painful side effects of stomach acid. [10]
Oregano (Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum)
If you are in pain, oregano is definitely one of the best herbs to take into your food. This powerful herb is known for its anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. In fact, it contains 32 anti-inflammatory compounds. [11] Oregano is also a good source of a variety of health nutrients which include iron, copper, potassium, calcium, niacin, manganese, zinc and Vitamins E, C and A.
Since the start of the 5th century, oregano has been widely used by the Mediterranean culture in treating diarrhea, stomach pain and other health conditions. It is believed that this herb is capable of alleviating the pain suffered by people with sciatica, joint pain, muscle spasms, backache and other chronic pain illnesses. [12]
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)
Highly recommended for women suffering from menstrual cramps, this powerful herb is known to contain 27 antispasmodic and 16 analgesic chemicals. [14] Coming from the family of parsley and carrots, fennel is often used as an ingredient for cooking. Through time, researchers discovered that this herb is capable of treating a wide range of illness because of its antispasmodic properties. These conditions include gout, colic, gas, spasms and cramps. For women with menstrual cramps, fennel’s spasmodic properties help in relaxing the muscles of the body, especially those found in the uterus. [15]
When used as a compress, fennel makes an excellent treatment for inflammation of the eyelids, and conjunctivitis. When used as oil, it helps in easing rheumatic and muscular pains. [16]
Clove (Syzygium aromaticum)
This herb is makes a very popular home treatment for toothaches. In fact, many over-the counter (OTC) pain relievers and mouthwash today feature clove as one of its ingredients. Clove is known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
It offers a great deal of relief to people who suffer from painful gums and teeth. An excellent source of magnesium, fiber, calcium, manganese and Vitamins K and C, clove is also rich in eugenol compound that is known to be effective in reducing inflammation, relieving pain and killing bacteria. Also, eugenol is scientifically proven to be effective in inhibiting the production of enzymes that cause many inflammatory conditions. [17] According to some, chewing a clove leaf helps in reducing inflammation, combating bacterial infection as well as numbing pain.
Furthermore, research revealed that about 60-90% of clove is composed of eugenol where clove’s antiseptic, antifungal and anesthetic properties are coming from. [18]
Burdock (Arcticum minus or Arctium lappa)
Considered one of the best ways to deal with pain is to take food and supplements that contain essential fatty acids. This makes Burdock one of the best pain relieving herbs available today. The herb contains fatty oils, sterols and tannins which act as powerful anti-inflammatory agents. [19]
Coming from the thistle family, burdock has been in used for two centuries in treating a wide range of health conditions. In fact, it is highly valued for the treatment of gout, arthritis, rheumatism and other inflammatory conditions. [20] Burdock is also useful in reducing pain and swelling of the joints.

Ever since I started using Hydrogen Peroxide to get rid of armpit stains, to clean cookie sheets, as a miracle cleaner in my kitchen and bathroom, and to make my own “oxi clean”…I ALWAYS have at least one bottle of the stuff under my kitchen sink, under my bathroom sink, AND in the laundry room. This stuff is amazingly versatile!
But it wasn’t until recently, after doing some IN DEPTH research on the subject, that I came to realize what a “miracle substance” hydrogen peroxide really is! It’s safe, it’s readily available, it’s cheap, and best of all, it WORKS! It works for a LOT of stuff!
Hydrogen peroxide should really be called oxygen water, since it is basically the same chemical make up as water but with an extra oxygen atom (H2O2). Because of this it breaks down quickly and harmlessly into oxygen and water.
Some other interesting facts about hydrogen peroxide:
It is found in all living material.
Your white blood cells naturally produce hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to fight bacteria and infections.
Fruit and vegetables naturally produce hydrogen peroxide. This is one of the reasons why it is so healthy to eat fresh fruit and vegetables.
It is found in massive dosages in the mother’s first milk, called colostrum, and is transferred to the baby to boost their immune system.
It is found in rain water because some of the H20 in the atmosphere receives an additional oxygen atom from the ozone (O3) and this H2O2 makes plants grow faster.
Next to Apple Cider Vinegar, hydrogen peroxide ranks up there as one of the best household remedies.
Besides the obvious (cleansing wounds), did you know that it is probably the best remedy to dissolve ear wax? Brighten dingy floors? Add natural highlights to your hair? Improve your plants root systems? The list goes on and on!
There are SO many uses for this stuff that I’ve started replacing the cap on the hydrogen peroxide bottle with a sprayer because it’s easier and faster to use that way.
I have compiled a rather impressive list of uses for 3% hydrogen peroxide that I hope will have you as thrilled and bewildered as I was!
Wash vegetables and fruits with hydrogen peroxide to remove dirt and pesticides. Add 1/4 cup of H2O2 to a sink of cold water. After washing, rinse thoroughly with cool water.
In the dishwasher, add 2 oz. to your regular detergent for a sanitizing boost. Also, beef up your regular dish soap by adding roughly 2 ounces of 3% H2O2 to the bottle.
Use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash to freshen breath. It kills the bacteria that causes halitosis. Use a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water.
Use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to make a paste for brushing teeth. Helps with early stages of gingivitis as it kills bacteria. Mixed with salt and baking soda, hydrogen peroxide works as a whitening toothpaste.
Soak your toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide between uses to keep it clean and prevent the transfer of germs. This is particularly helpful when you or someone in your family has a cold or the flu.
Clean your cutting board and countertop. Let everything bubble for a few minutes, then scrub and rinse clean. (I’ve been using it for this a LOT lately!)
Wipe out your refrigerator and dishwasher. Because it’s non-toxic, it’s great for cleaning places that store food and dishes.
Clean your sponges. Soak them for 10 minutes in a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and warm water in a shallow dish. Rinse the sponges thoroughly afterward.
Remove baked-on crud from pots and pans. Combine hydrogen peroxide with enough baking soda to make a paste, then rub onto the dirty pan and let it sit for a while. Come back later with a scrubby sponge and some warm water, and the baked-on stains will lift right off.
Whiten bathtub grout. First dry the tub thoroughly, then spray it liberally with hydrogen peroxide. Let it sit — it may bubble slightly — for a little while, then come back and scrub the grout with an old toothbrush. You may have to repeat the process a few times.
Clean the toilet bowl. Pour half a cup of hydrogen peroxide into the toilet bowl, let stand for 20 minutes, then scrub clean.
Remove stains from clothing, curtains, and tablecloths. Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a pre-treater for stains — just soak the stain for a little while in 3% hydrogen peroxide before tossing into the laundry. You can also add a cup of peroxide to a regular load of whites to boost brightness. It’s a green alternative to bleach, and works just as well.
Brighten dingy floors. Combine half a cup of hydrogen peroxide with one gallon of hot water, then go to town on your flooring. Because it’s so mild, it’s safe for any floor type, and there’s no need to rinse.
Clean kids’ toys and play areas. Hydrogen peroxide is a safe cleaner to use around kids, or anyone with respiratory problems, because it’s not a lung irritant. Spray toys, toy boxes, doorknobs, and anything else your kids touch on a regular basis.
Help out your plants. To ward off fungus, add a little hydrogen peroxide to your spray bottle the next time you’re spritzing plants.
Add natural highlights to your hair. Dilute the hydrogen peroxide so the solution is 50% peroxide and 50% water. Spray the solution on wet hair to create subtle, natural highlights.
According to alternative therapy practitioners, adding half a bottle of hydrogen peroxide to a warm bath can help detoxify the body. Some are skeptical of this claim, but a bath is always a nice way to relax and the addition of hydrogen peroxide will leave you – and the tub – squeaky clean!
Spray a solution of 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide on leftover salad, drain, cover and refrigerate. This will prevent wilting and better preserve your salad.
Sanitize your kids’ lunch boxes/bags.
Dab hydrogen peroxide on pimples or acne to help clear skin.
Hydrogen peroxide helps to sprout seeds for new plantings. Use a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution once a day and spritz the seed every time you re-moisten. You can also use a mixture of 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 32 parts water to improve your plants’ root system.
Remove yellowing from lace curtains or tablecloths. Fill a sink with cold water and a 2 cups of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Soak for at least an hour, rinse in cold water and air dry.
Use it to remove ear wax. Use a solution of 3% with olive or almond oil. Add a couple drops of oil first then H2O2. After a few minutes, tilt head to remove solution and wax.
Helps with foot fungus. Spray a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry. Or try soaking your feet in a peroxide solution to help soften calluses and corns, and disinfect minor cuts.
Spray down the shower with hydrogen peroxide to kill bacteria and viruses.
Use 1 pint of 3% hydrogen peroxide to a gallon of water to clean humidifiers and steamers.
Wash shower curtains with hydrogen peroxide to remove mildew and soap scum. Place curtains in machine with a bath towel and your regular detergent. Add 1 cup full strength 3% hydrogen peroxide to the rinse cycle.
Use for towels that have become musty smelling. 1/2 cup Peroxide and 1/2 cup vinegar let stand for 15 minutes wash as normal. Gets rid of the smell.
Use hydrogen peroxide to control fungi present in aquariums. Don’t worry, it won’t hurt your fish. Use sparingly for this purpose.
De-skunking solution. Combine 1 quart 3% H2O2, 1/4 cup baking soda, 1 teaspoon Dawn dish detergent, 2 quarts warm water.
