Watched the neeya naana program..thanks guys for the link q.hmm.. Gopinath did well. The very ending part including MSV, Subbiah Naidu and Rahman seemed to be a late "insert". Must be some guidance from the corporate guys that a network cannot be favoring a particular composer. Just to give him the benefit of doubt. The BITS alumnus woman is a good example of how the instrumental portion of IR's songs captured peoples imagination compared to mostly the vocal nuances in previous era ..I was impressed when she asked 1st or 2nd interlude ..awesome. Well ..even today, there is so much importance to the sound.. but not sure whether the "playing" is given importance !!
(Damn.. arivumathi sings wells and sort of sounded like IR's voice..he made some good points too)

With too many crowd and Usha's forewarning, I didn't
expect the spotlight on non pushy, non vociferous speakers
like Usha . But still, I am miffed with Gopi's
demeanour to cast away anything even remotely resembling a
technical viewpoint. I am referring to Raj's "kanavu ondru thondrudhe" and Usha's "mazhai varuvadhu" here.
We all know TRP is his sole goal but allowing a few
"so called high brow" stuff here and there is not going to hurt.
