Ok.. This is news to me. Last time (2011) it was different. We retained the likes of Jakati without sending him into auction pool. Similarly, Manish Pandey went into auction after terminating the contract with RCB.
Can anyone clarify this. Why is Bollinger not playing for Csk this season ??
his contract is over in last season itself..
Bollinger was left into the auction pool last year along with George Bailey,Yomahesh,Vignesh and Mukund. Bollinger's ousting was on disciplinary grounds was what reported.
Well well. He was a big plus in the bowling dept among foreign players. Still none have fitted in his part. Holder and Morris have to perform better.

Gurunath Meiyapppan Arrested
Gurunath Meiyappan, a top official of the Chennai
Super Kings franchise and son-in-law of the BCCI
president N Srinivasan, has been formally arrested by
Mumbai Police on charges of cheating, forgery and
fraud. The development, late on Friday night, is the
most serious setback to the IPL in its six-year history and has serious implications for the BCCI as well given
the names involved. As of early Saturday morning there was no news of an
emergency BCCI meeting but it is expected that events
will move fast through the day, to discuss the issue of
leadership - though Srinivasan insisted he would not
step down - and also Chennai Super Kings' participation
in the IPL final on Sunday. Gurunath had been summoned to Mumbai for questioning over betting and links to bookies and flew in on Friday
evening. "We have interrogated Mr Gurunath after he arrived
here at the crime branch headquarters," Himanshu Roy,
the joint commissioner of Mumbai Police, said. "We
have gone through questioning with him in detail and
after due deliberation, we have arrived at the
conclusion there is evidence of involvement in offence we are investigating and therefore he has been placed
under arrest. He will be produced in court within 24
hours as per law." Reports suggest Gurunath's interrogation in Mumbai will
continue through Friday night, and he will also be
confronted with Virender "Vindoo" Dara Singh, the
actor arrested earlier this week for alleged contact
with bookies. Police investigations suggested that
Vindoo and Gurunath were in frequent telephonic contact. Vindoo was also seen in the CSK box at IPL
matches. Gurunath's lawyer PS Raman said: "We are exploring all
legal possibilities. We are waiting for the remand
report before reading the charges against him." Srinivasan had not commented in public since the
reports first emerged on Wednesday that his son-in-
law was linked to the IPL scandal, but after the arrest
he maintained he would not resign as BCCI president. "I
have done nothing wrong," he told NDTV. "I am not
resigning, the board is largely supportive of me." Gurunath's connection to Super Kings was the subject of dispute through the day. He was the public face of the franchise, his Twitter handle said he was the "team
principal", he was seen as Super Kings' representative
at auctions and at IPL owners' meetings. Yet on Friday
evening India Cements, the owners of the franchise and
of which Srinivasan is the managing director, said
Gurunath was only an honorary member of the team management. The implications of Gurunath's arrest involve both
Super Kings, who have qualified for the final to be
played on May 26, and Srinivasan. His arrest brings into question Super Kings'
participation in the final - under the IPL's own anti-
corruption code, Clause 12.3 states that the BCCI-IPL
can terminate a franchise agreement "with immediate
effect if: c) The Franchise, any Franchise Group
Company and/ or any owner acts in any way which has a material adverse effect upon the reputation or
standing of the League, BCCI-IPL, BCCI, the Franchise,
the team (or any other team in the League) and/ or
the game of cricket." More importantly, and with wider implication,
Srinivasan's position within the BCCI is likely to be
under serious threat - not only because Meiyappan
happens to be his son-in-law but because Srinivasan
heads India Cements, who are owners of the Super
Kings. The conflict of interest that arises from Srinivasan's dual position as BCCI president and de
facto owner of an IPL franchise now has a serious
immediate implication: he will, as board president, have
to oversee any disciplinary action against either
Gurunath or the franchise. An IPL insider clarified that Meiyappan's change of
designation was not likely to have any impact on the
action that needs to be taken. "The moment you're a
team management member, irrespective of the
designation, the Anti-Corruption code applies to you.
And nobody can deny the fact that he is a part of the ownership group and team management." QUICK COMMENT Time to walk Jayaditya Gupta Over the past week the image of Indian cricket has
taken a fearsome battering. It started with the arrest of three cricketers on allegations of spot-fixing and
continued as various bookmakers and bit players who
flock to the sport were also arrested and details of
their "confessions" were leaked. Through it all N
Srinivasan, the BCCI president, maintained that there
were a few "rotten eggs" in Indian cricket, and the game was in overall rude health. On Friday night his
assertions came crashing down with the arrest of his
son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, the de facto head of
the Chennai Super Kings franchise. Gurunath's arrest - and it is safe to say the Mumbai
Police would not have taken that step, given the
implications, without very strong evidence - is a far
more serious issue than the arrest of three players. As
the "team principal" - the style on his Twitter handle -
he sat in on player auctions, attended IPL meetings as his franchise's representative and had free access to
the players at most times. He is, without much doubt,
the team's most important person - his players
referred to him as "boss". Under the IPL's anti-
corruption code, therefore, his arrest leaves Super
Kings' franchise agreement liable to be terminated with immediate effect. Where that leaves the team, which
has qualified for Sunday's IPL final, is still anyone's
guess. Any decision on Gurunath will have to be taken by the
IPL and the BCCI, which begs this question: how can
Srinivasan, father-in-law of the man arrested and
managing director of the company that owns the
franchise, also be at the head of the organisation that
will decide on the punishment? Srinivasan has so long played the conflict-of-interest game to his advantage,
watching his Super Kings team become the most
successful IPL franchise. The time has now come for
him to step down, if only to enable a free and fair
inquiry and to allow Indian cricket and its governing
body the opportunity to retrieve some of the ground it has lost. Srinivasan has long called himself a cricket
fan. To use a cricketing analogy, he needs to walk
before he is given out.
'' Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi was adamant that
Gurunath Meiyappan - who was arrested
on Friday night - was the team owner of
Chennai Super Kings and that the
franchise should be eliminated from the
league. ''
:( :( :( I'm down with all these happenings. Couldn't see an Ipl without Csk. Donno whats gonna happen
CSK should be scrapped from IPL immediately:
Sahara chief
DELHI: An upset Sahara Group
chief Subrata Roy on Friday
vented his anger on BCCI president
N Srinivasan and demanded that
Chennai Super Kings, which is
embroiled in the spot-fixing scandal, should be "scrapped
immediately" from the T20 league. Questioning Srinivasan's conflict
of interest in the game, Roy said
CSK's contract should be
terminated immediately in the wake
of franchise owner Gurunath
Meiyappan's name cropping up in the spot-fixing scandal. "If a franchise is involved in betting their contract
should immediately be scrapped. If a owner is involved in
betting it's wrong," he said. "People who rule sports bodies, National Sports
Federations (NSFs) should be clear. A rule should be
made that NSFs should be governed by sportspersons." The Sahara chief stated that it will not sponsor the
Indian cricket team as long as the Srinivasan stays at
the helm of BCCI. "It's really unfair, sad, irritating and disgusting. The
last 13-14 years we had enjoyed such a harmonious
relationship (with BCCI) till Shashank Manohar was
there. But after that it is so disgusting," said Roy, the
owner of the Pune Warriors franchise which has pulled
out of the IPL over financial issues with the BCCI. "We enjoyed such a good relation with BCCI till
Shashank Manohar was there." Asked whether he will reconsider his decision to sponsor
the Indian cricket team if Srinivasan is not at the helm,
the Sahara chief said, "I will say yes to it." "Everything revolves around Srinivasan. He doesn't
know how to run a sports body like BCCI. A sports
body chief shouldn't have such egoistic attitude," Roy
told 'Times Now'

Dwayne Bravo to groove for Tamil film song
West Indian cricketer, Dwayne Bravo, who is also a key member of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) T20 team and known for his impromptu dance moves and eye- catching style on field, is all set to groove to a song in an Indian film. He said this at an exclusive event hosted in Chennai over the weekend.
Bravo is to be featured in a yet-to-be composed promotional song for the Tamil drama film 'Ula'. "Away from home, Chennai makes me feel like I am home. So, I am really grateful to be chosen to be a part of this project. I am really looking forward to it, looking forward to meet new people, looking forward to dancing, and entertaining the people, and I know it's going to be a great success," said Bravo.
Known for his freestyle dancing, he said that just like him people of India also love to dance. "For me, sports and entertainment go hand in hand. I really enjoy the music aspect of life, I love the entertainment, and for me, it's a great opportunity, apart from cricket. I enjoy dancing, and here, in India, people love to enjoy themselves, love to dance, and it's a great chance for me to actually do something different," he added.
He further said that he has seen several possibilities in the field of entertainment, but is currently focussing on the sport.
Tamil film Ula features actors Vidharth, Ajmal Amir, Radhika Apte and Gayathrie in lead roles. The shooting for Bravo's promotional song is expected to begin in some weeks.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court-appointed committee probing the IPL spot-fixing scandal has called on people having any information on the allegations of betting against BCCI President N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan and other accused to share their inputs with the panel. The committee headed by former Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal and comprising Additional Solicitor General L. Nageshwar Rao and senior advocate Nilay Dutta, met for the first time on October 11 here. The committee, after "perusal" of the Supreme Court order, decided on its schedule of meetings. The panel, appointed in the first week of this month.
"The schedule of the sittings of the committee and its functioning and support personnel were finalised and communicated to the BCCI," said Vidushpat Singhania, the secretary to the committee, in a statement issued by the BCCI. The committee has urged anybody with information on the fixing allegations against Meiyappan and other accused to mail it to them. "The informants shall not be given hearing unless and until the committee thinks it fit to do so. The identity of the informant shall be kept confidential," the statement read. The Supreme Court has directed the committee to investigate the allegations of betting and spot-fixing in the IPL matches against Gurunath Meiyappan, allegedly the team principal of Chennai Superkings, the accused players and the team owner of IPL franchisee Rajasthan Royals. The court appointed the probe committee after the Cricket Association of Bihar filed a petition against the BCCI probe panel, which exonerated Meiyappan and team owners but handed varied bans to the cricketers. The cricketers who were banned included former Test pacer S Sreesanth. The two-member BCCI probe panel of Justice T. Jayarama Chouta and Justice R. Balasubramanian, former judges of the Madras High Court, gave a clean chit to Raj Kundra, co-owner of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL betting scandal.

Any news on how many players can be retained? Mumbai and Chennai will be in favor of 5 players retention....:-D
why are you so stressed out about IPL and CSK? That was a simple question!...hmm....whatever keep the thread rolling..
P.S (not targeted at you Dilbert): On the hindsight, I am proud that a Chennai guy heads the most powerful sport body of India, which was traditionally mumbai-dominated and in spite of all the pressure from different sides got back into the leadership position. Winning a power politics at such high level is even more prestigious than the game of cricket. I don't mind the ethical angle at all, as the court has allowed him.
Cant agree more on the PS. :)
Stressed and me not at all , I am just emphasizing a point here , IPL and CSK is still standing as is despite of their corruption / Scandals and what not shows the state of our society's mentality which is ready to live with this kind of rigged system that's all. I seriously don't care about what some boys or CSK fans think about me or my argument , those are the last souls I need to worry about :) they are fine in their own fairy tale champion of champions bubble , its ok whatever makes them comfortable !
On your Mumbai dominated comment , its another fabricated illusion you are using to justify the nonsense what Seenu mama and his gang is doing.Mafia(BCCI) is divided equally among all powerful cricket boards (West Bengal , Mumbai, Karnataka, AP , TN) for decades now. Time to time you will see one board appearing as powerful in reality all are part of same corrupt body. Which needs an urgent govt take over. So that Amma can be the next president :)
This is precisely the kind of parochialism that politicians feed on to get away even as players are stigmatised and denied a career in cricket. Do you seriously believe Srini mama or Pawar uncle care even one bit about Chennai or Mumbai? One look at their pot bellies should tell you where the money goes. When I tried to get tickets for the India-England Test at Wankhede last year, I found daily tickets were not being sold online! Er, so much for their desire to promote cricket in the country. And they have the temerity to complain about empty stands for Test cricket when it is they who do their best to sabotage it (perhaps so that they can kill it for good in the country and make IPL the sole exclusive property).
Dilbert,
I very well know that the the North South West and South divisions take power taking turns. This time if Srini hasn't got the power of the leaders within the South region, another zone would have taken the control of the board. But Srini got the support of his zone leaders unanimously, which is a big deal. The other guys in the region could have gone different ways and led way to another region taking over the control. This way, it is a phenomenal achievement by Srini to take power this time. There is a reason why cricinfo calls him "Tamilnadu Strongman" and insist his phenomenal power within the board. I feel its really great to see a chennai guy calling the shots in the most powerful cricket board.
Regarding ethics or morals, chill down...I have already told that until the court tells Srini cannot take office, anyone can tell anything , it is all tea-bench opinions. Seeing a chennai guy to be in the most powerful position of an English game is great as chennai has been one of the revered location for playing cricket and the crowd has been called as "the most knowledged and sporting crowd" in India.
Crimson, please spare yourself from teaching me about being brainwashed by politicians. The next lines have no relevance with what I have said as its purely operational efficency and channel strategy related. If you don't get tickets online, its their channel strategy. What does it tell about srini or pawar ... to give you a flavour, there is a "reason" why IRCTC site is slow (not because government cannot add up some more servers to handle the traffic or modify the software architecture to have better handling alorithms). Its upto the government to decide which segment of the customer should benefit! But, I accept that BCCI should start looking at selling online tickets for test matches as its not full stands as it used to be for test matches in India.
So how do you account for the fact that tickets are easily available for IPL matches organised at the same MCA stadium? Some tickets are withheld for MCA club members in IPL matches too. I am not interested in teaching you anything. But I am certainly going to state how amused I am at your pride over a certain politician controlling cricket in this country merely because he is from TN. May God help cricket.
And please also care to explain why players should be handed bans while the matter is still sub judice if Srini mama uses the same logic as justification against resigning? The system is loaded in favour of the politician-administrators and your reluctance at acknowledging this is not going to stop me from saying it.
Crimson, please read my post above it. It is also amusing when you say to me a chennai guy that tickets are easily available for an IPL match rather than a test match. Please!!! You can walk to test match venue, get tickets and watch. As simple as that. I know people standing for 5-6 hours in queue for getting a ticket for an IPL match. "Casual Lies" in an argument is one of the most irritating thing.
Regarding my pride over whatever you feel is parochial - I was just referring to the game of power politics between multiple players. The game was fascinating and I was proud when Srini came out flying colors in the game. Why proud - its the same reason you feel proud when 11 players who are completely unrelated to you represent a region and win, just because they are from your region. Unless Court convicts Srini, the discussion of ethics is irrelevant to me.
SC is just following a blind law, which says if a "Non-Govt" body or Pvt Body is not subject to Criminal or Civil investigation. Courts doesn't have jurisdiction over advising on day to day operations. If Seenu Mama is a saint let him request a CBI investigation on IPL fixing. Apparam paarengea dabba dance ! . As I mentioned earlier, me alone chilling down and slowly soaping the bubble won't change the reality. And more importantly, I speak my mind. you guys touch your heart and tell me if it was RCB chief or SRH chief was in same position you would have spared them ? Why do you expect CSK to be treated any different ?
