for example in chennai alone the collection of "Thiruvilayadal" in just 3 theaters Shanthi,Crown, Bhuvaneswari (179 days each).
The Total collection of Thiruvilayadal in 537 days was Rs. 13,82,002.91. This was way ahead when compared to the previously released film of another legendary actor. The legendary actor film collected - Rs.13,23,683.22 paisa in 563 days.
This means, Nadigar Thilagam film had collected around Rs.59,000 more.
Even, the 1969 film of the legendary actor could not surpass the collection of Nadigar Thilagam's Thiruvilayadal - The film that was released in 1969 of the other legendary actor collected Rs.13,60,256.82. A difference where Thiruvilayadal collection leads around Rs.22,000.
It was only in the year 1971, the legendary actor could surpass, the 1965 created record of Thiruvilayadal...The film of legendary actor collected Rs.16,84,953.47. Only after 6 years, Nadigar Thilagam Film Record could be surpassed by any other actor...
However, it was not the case with Nadigar Thilagam.... But Nadigar Thilagam film in 1972, VasanthaMaaligai, surpassed the collection of Legendary Actor film released in 1971. Vasantha Maaligai collected Rs.17,34,677.20 - A margin of around Rs.51,000 (Half a Lakh)..!! Nadigar Thilagam film beat the record in just 1 year.
The above are just couple of the comparison !
