It will likely happen in few years from now. Now the market size of the tamil industry is about 1000C and about to grow 11% per annum as per deloitte's forecast. It means that in next 6 to 7 years the market size will be double (just apply the thumb rule of 72). When the industry has tremendous potential to grow and top heroes can grow easily faster than industry average by leveraging marketing, fan base, distributing in new geographies etc , it is achievable. My gut feeling is that the day is not far away from now.
That is why film collections are adjusted to inflation right? Atleast in hollywood?

Inflation does not account all the factors. Inflation mainly tells the story of purchasing power of money.....Population in cities due to urbanization, purchasing power and supply side of the economy has grown too outpaced the historical trend. Movies are easily accessible to everyone due to increase in number of shows, theaters, regulatory environment etc. By keeping all in mind, Can we compare movies released in different period? The different "period" is subjective when economy/industry is too hot. Before 90s, It took nearly decades to see the real change in a market place. Now the growth is so high that it's very difficult to do apples to apples comparison for movies that released even five years before
