ஆமை போல் ஐம்புலனை
அடக்கச் சொன்னான்
அறியாத வள்ளுவன்

இருபாலருக்கும் தெளிவாய்

கண் விரித்துப் பார்த்தாள்
ஆண் போக்கை அளந்தாள்
அவன் பாதையில் நடந்தாள்
அடக்கம் துறந்தாள்
அகந்தை வளர்த்தாள்
கட்டுக்கள் உடைத்தாள்
காமத்தை போற்றினாள்
புலன் போதையில் உழன்றாள்

தான் தன்சுகமென
தனிப்பாதை வகுத்தாள்
தாதியாய் பேணவில்லை
முதியோரை மழலையரை
தாரமாய் மணக்கவில்லை
சதியவளிடம் இணக்கமில்லை
இல்லத்தின் ஒளிவிளக்காய்
இருந்திட விருப்பமில்லை

இருட்டியபின்னும் அலுவலாம்
இடம் மாறி பணிகளாம்
இடுப்பொடிய நோகிறாள்
கடுப்படிக்கும் சூழல்களில்
பந்தயக்குதிரையாய்
சாதித்து முறிக்கிறாள்

நாணமில்லா கயல்விழிகள்
மறைக்காத வனப்புகள்

கூசாத பெண் தேகம்

காளைகள் திணறுவது உண்மை
ஆண்பெண் சமத்துவமா

கூட வரும் நிழலா
குடை பிடிக்கும் ஆலா

An analogy

An amazing revelation dawned on me: the variegated course of a river as it flows down from its origin to its ultimate end of merging into the sea. How different are the terrains it travels through in its long journey! How different are its pace, space and nature at different points on its sprightly race! A gushing brook here, a roaring cascade there, a sprawling sea now, a meandering stream later, through rocky hills, green vales, dark woods and level plains. Depositing silt on alluvial banks abetting agriculture, bouncing falls exhilarating with herbal baths, slowing tides breeding shoals of delicious fish- a bounteous, fertile mother showering joy and prosperity all the way down.

In a deeply contemplative mood the surprising analogy between the river and the human life struck me and of course with awe. In the case of the human life the main difference is a little unpredictability of when the bumps come or where the broads spread, when the torrents occur or where the calm flow ripples. Deep and silent at times; shallow and gurgling on pebbles; clear as crystal gleaming in the sun; murky, muddy in seasonal floods; envigorating swimming pools where deceptive whirls of sucking vortex also lie hidden; quenching the thirst of the people, beasts and soils also wrecking lives in occassional flood ravages. A sight of awe and wonder; a subject for perennial interest.

Having calmed down as a stream at the estuary little did I expect a sudden whirl of quick eddies, a strong current pulling me helplessly along. Days of hectic activity, important events, inevitable happenings, filial responsibilities- a sudden surge when parental duties are beginning to subside- strenuous tasks coming in succession not in single file but in battalions as the great bard wisely described! And add to this singularly extraordinary circumstances the ordinary woes of my browsing system!!!

A neat explanation for my hiatus!
