Tributes to MGR on birth anniversary

Cadre of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) celebrated the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister M.G.Ramachandran in a grand manner. The party cadre took out a procession from Lawley Hall and garlanded the statue of MGR near the railway station.
Durai.Thirugnanam, Thanjavur Assembly constituency secretary led the procession. Pandarinathan, town secretary of the party, Amutharani Ravichandran, Chairperson of Thanjavur district panchayat council, former MLAs Panchavarnam, Ilamathi Subramanian garlanded the statue.
Partymen took out processions at various places in the district. They distributed sweets and crackers were burst at many places. Portraits of MGR were garlanded in different parts of the district and his film songs were played in loud speakers.

Cadre of AIADMK and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) paid their tributes to the late leader. They took out a procession and garlanded the statue, as a mark of respect to MGR. A.V.M.Baskar, town secretary, AIADMK, S.A.Sait alias Abdul Rahman, municipal chairman (in-charge), N.Jahir, district secretary, DMDK, and Singamuthu, its town secretary, garlanded the statue.
At several parts of district, portraits of MGR were displayed and popular numbers from old films were played through public address system.

Cadre of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam garlanded the statue of the former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran in the city on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Thursday. Led by Vellamandi Natarajan, urban district presidium chairman, the AIADMK cadre garlanded the statue of their leader near the court campus.
A.Jaya, Mayor and K.K. Balasubramanian, former Minister, were present. Traffic in the Cantonment area went haywire as a large number of partymen converged around MGR Statue, a busy junction during the peak hour in the morning. Traffic had to be diverted as traffic snarls were created around Cantonment. At Subramanyapuram, the AIADMK cadre distributed sweets to the members of the public. At K.K. Nagar, the cadre distributed food to the weaker sections. Cadre of DMDK also paid tributes by garlanding the statue.
