PLOT:
Vaanavaraayan (Rajnikanth) plays the role of a feudal chieftain, adored and respected by his village people. He lives with his grandparents (M. N. Nambiar & Manorama). Following his advice, they abstain from voting in the elections and instead, pool the money given by the candidates to get themselves some basic amenities. Vallavaraayan (Napoleon) is his arch enemy. Their enmity is further sharpened when Vaanavaraayan wins the hand of Vaitheeswari (Meena), whom Vallavaraayan had also wished to wed. So Vallavaraayan convinces the priest at the temple to mix a poison in the holy water that Vaitheeswari drinks. As a result she becomes incapable of conceiving.
Vallavaraayan humiliates Vaanavaraayan in temple when the whole village is gathred that he does not have a child. Ponni (Aishwariya) accuses Vaanavaraayan of illegal relationship with her but withdraws it & reveals that she could not bear Rajini being humiliated.
But surprisingly, Vaitheeswari soon becomes pregnant-though she has pretended with the help of the mid-wife (S. N. Lakshmi), to do so to uphold her husband's honor. She takes poison and kills herself unable to bear the grief of being incapable of giving her husband a child and on her deathbed makes Vaanavarayan swear to take Ponni (Aishwariya) as his wife. Vaanavarayan however refuses until Ponni agrees to marry Sembattai ('Thalapathi' Dinesh)- Vallavarayan's hechman-who abandons her to Vallavarayan's vice. Infuriated Vaanavarayam attacks Vallavarayam and spares his life after giving him a sermon on how to win the heart of people.
PERFORMANCE:
Rajini , is a delight to watch in this movie as a simple village guy. It is refreshing to see Rajini without any problems like reforming the society and other problems.
Meena- beginning of long innings in tamil as heroine she excels
GOundamani & Senthil- Nothing to say they always rock does it again
Napolean- For an audience to enjoy , a villan must pose a threat to hero , Napolean is apt for it
Dalapathy Dinesh fights are superb
Manorama, MN Nambiyar comic sense, sentiment scenes are too good
Aishwarya has done a bold role nice portrayal
TRIVA:

The movie ran for more than 100 days
The movie was initially flop but AVM marketed the movie nicely . A letter from a woman about the impact of the movie was widely used in newspaper s. The movie gined momentum and became a hit.
Meena was initial choice for Devar Magan Revathi role but since the movie got delayed she was roped in for this movie
It was the first movie for Napolean , Rocky Rajesh with Thalaivar
For Aishwarya also this is first movie with Rajini
Once in a party few people were commenting that AVM movies won’t be a hit now a days , Rajini heard this & planned this movie.
Chinna Gounder was to be released that time.
Some people convinced Rajini to go in for a different director than SPM and Rajini was convinced hence RV udayakumar was chosen as a director
Initially RV Udayakumar asked Rajini , Whether Iam doing your movie or you are doing my movie to Which Thalaivar replied

Hence a movie Jilla Collector was convinced. It had Rajini in dual roles. Hero& villan. Many of them might have seen Stills of Rajini with a bag & cigar
But Chinnagounder was a big success and hence Rajini opted for a rural subject and chose to act in RV Udayakumar ‘s movie hence this movie was made .
During those time Rajini could not spend much time with his family , RV Udayakumar was very worried and decided to set it right. He urged Rajini to bring his family to Pollachi and stay in Palace of Vanavarayan house . Rajini’s family( Wife & daughters ) came for a week end stay., but it turned out to a week long visit. During that time Aishwarya & Soundarya would even call for Start & Cut as instructed by director.
The movie had another climax that is Vaanavarayan marries Ponni in the end and has a daughter he names Vaitheeswari (appears in the extended DVD version)

It is the nineth movie for AVM with Thalaivar
Shankar had written this story for Rajini long time back . MS guhan contacted Karuna from Ayangaran ( Their overseas distributors) and hence Shankar was roped in.
Rajini was given a token advance of Rs 1001 and he did not get any money till the movie was completed and was sold out.
It was 60th year for AVM, so Guhan decided to go for lavish production like Gemini’s chandralekha and hence Sivaji was made.
About the leading lady for the film, there were initial speculations on who would essay the role. Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukherji, Ayesha Takia,[13] Trisha, Nayantara and Jyothika were rumored to bag the role.
However, the air was cleared when Shankar and Rajinikanth announced that Shriya Saran would essay the role as Rajinikanth's love interest.[ The voice of Kanika, an actress, was used as a voice-over for Shriya.[16] Actress Sunaina was signed up to make a special appearance in the film. The scene was later deleted and her role was left uncredited; the same occurred for Vinu Chakravarthy.
Nayantara, who had earlier acted with Rajinikanth in Chandramukhi (2005), was also signed up later to do an item number in the film.
Names of Mohanlal,[18] Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar, Sathyaraj and Prakash Raj cropped up for the portrayal of the antagonist's role in the film.
In March 2006, Suman was confirmed as the person selected to play the role of Adiseshan.[20] The director, Shankar, realized that Suman lacked the wry smile needed for his character.
This conspicuous smile of Adiseshan was made possible with a denture.[citation needed] It was Shankar's idea again to adorn the character with spotless dhoti, shirt, shoes, a Rolex watch and Ray Ban sunglasses.
Prior to this, Suman had acted with Rajinikanth in Thee (1981).
In early 2006, a magazine came out with a cast list that included mimicry artists, Cochin Haneefa, Chinni Jayanth and Mayilsamy.[22] The names of support cast for the film was released in a phased manner.[ By mid-2006, Manivannan, M. S. Baskar, Livingston, Vadivukarasi, Pyramid Natarajan, Uma Padmanabhan, Pattimandram Raja, Vannakam Thamizhuzhagam Revathi, Solomon Pappayya, Muthukaalai, Nellai Siva, Bose Venkat and M'Sia Prabhu were selected for the film
Sahana Saral song was first shot on Dec14,2005. The set was erected before 45 days, in Ramoji Rao film city to accommodate changes as per Director’s choice .
60 Gym boys were used. Mumbai dancers were also used
Costumes for this song were designed by Neetha Lulla. Since it was December it was too cold and inside the hall was A/C and actress Shreya has to swim in that swimming pool.
Daily flowers worth Rs 20,000/- were used, for jewels 1 kg Navarathna stones were used
2 production managers, one in shooting spot & other would be roaming in shopping malls to buy things as per director’s choice.
Iranian chicken were used from 5 * hotels.
Rajini stayed in Ramoji rao’s personal chamber which is not usually given to stars

DRIVE INN FIGHT:
The drive in fight was initially planned to be shot in Prathana Drive inn but Peter hein did not like the place and IAF ground was used after due convincing. A huge amount of guarantee , Goodwill of AVM, Rajini, Shankar were deciding factor.
Helium gas ballon worth Rs 7000/- was used
A huge police patrol was used to give protection to crew as the sequences were shot outdoor
Rajini’s car was Mercedez Benz, Scorpio car was remodeled as Britto car, Ambasdor, Qualis cars were used.
A medical team was present on the spot for first aid but many fighters were injured and rushed to hospitals
Night shoots from 11.00 to 5.00 were done.
After the schedule the ground was damaged , As AVm was known for its reliability, the ground was refurbished and also a considerable sum was donated for Ground’s & sports welfare
Audio CD’s were given to Police personnel & to the residents.
GEMINI FLYOVER
A camera was fixed in Parsan apartments and a shot was canned , Benz car shot. First scene where Rajini comes to India was already shot ( Car interior scenes were shot before) Now exterior shots were canned without permission as no actors were involved
But they were called for enquiry by American embassy who did not know about the shoot and were warned by the authorities
VILLAN INTRO:
Mohanlal, Rajkiran, Sarathkumar, Sathyaraj were asked to play villan role but many of them opted out , Suman came forward as he was helped by AVM when he was in legal tussles some years back .
A special car with 6 doors were used for Suman.
Director was actually in Spain during Suman’s inclusion and he was ready for shot and okayed by Shankar( Dental issues, Makeup)
Chetpet Harrigtion colonly was chosen for hospital sequences( Rajini meeting rowdies in hospital)
RAJINI’S INTRO
Rajini’s intro was shot in Chennai airport from 11-5 O clock , no permission in morning. Many models from Mumbai @ a salary of Rs 12000/- were used for the scene.
Welcome party for Rajini was shot in Le meriden hotel , girls catwalk and other scenes
BINNY MILLS:
Fight sequences were shot in binny mills,
Rajini & 100 rowdies fight
Rajini shot the fight sequences with minimal dupe, he even hanged upside down
He even had springs in his legs, Sommersault sequences
The fight master asked for 3 sommersaults but Rajini did 4 of them
A special lighting was used and a road was constructed but many onlookers complained about electricity misuse . It was actually from generators and it was duly clarified and shooting continued.
But fight sequences were stopped reason, Rajini’s shoulders were injured and Rajini requested it to do in next schedule.
This is the first time in which Rajini requested a pack up ( For this movie)
ADHIRADI KARAN SONG:
Adhiradi Karan song was composed in Canada
Mexico drawings were used and mostly foreigners were used for the song.
Foreigners from Puttaparthi, Mahabalipuram, Bangalore were used daily around 150 people were used.
They stayed near Central Railway station hotels, given required food, rooms etc.
150 masks were also imported from Italy.
A special bike costs around 25 Lacs was used, daily rent around Rs 20,000/-
Rajini himself drove the bike , the bike had special controls like if you hit a button it will lift the person driving it
Rolls Royce car was asked by Shankar. In Chennai it was available
It was owned by Mr. MGM Muthu, Saravanan sir himself gave it for free, the rent for a day for same car was 75000/- rs(In Mumbai)
The cars used in the song were owned by Ms Guhan, he himself has a passion for vintage cars.
The fighters used in the song has to jump breaking the glass from 80ft.
Three fighters were injured, Glass pierced in chest, leg fracture, thigh injury

This scene was shot in Greams road near appolo hospitals , in a house and set was constructed, many fans thronged to catch a glimpse of Thalaivar but TamilNadu Police gave a nice idea.
Police organized the crowd in such a way that the crowd could watch the shoot but they were not in frame wonder how?
They made them to sit the people opposite to camera.
JAIL SEQUENCES:
Jail scenes were shot in Chengelpet,jail. AVM provided with Idly making tray as requested . Also a boy came from Bihar to Chennai and he was jailed. Production Manager got his father’s number and informed to his father. His father came within 3 days .

The dancers stayed in dormitory in a school. They were given 2 litres kerosene to wipe off the paint.
They got up around 4 0 clock , drew paintings and got ready by 7 o clock
They rubbed the paint in dormitory walls and school authorities condemned this, AVM gave Rs 3000/- for painting the walls
Director & crew members stayed in top of hill in a house( Like Michel, Madana Kamarajan House)
Rajini loved the house and asked permisision to stay along with them but due to security reasons it was rejected.
On the last day Rajini took photo with each dancer and gave them money & made sure that photos reached them.

PLOT:
The film opens with Charan raj, an inspector in a port taking photos, he is caught by Rocky and produced before their boss Parameswaran, He is killed next comes the intro of Thalaivar, (Paandiyan) (Rajinikanth). His sister is Jayasudha , a honest police officer, Rajini is unemployed youth who comes form Bombay. Both Rajini & Jayasudha are not in talking terms. Rajini arranges for Jayasudha’s marriage but she makes her younger sister as bride . Rajini becomes suspicious and digs her past & comes to know that she has a daughter.
Meanwhile after a few encounters Both Rajini & Kushboo starts loving each other, Rajini with help of Janakaraj lands in a job with Vinu Chakravarthy who in turn deputes him to Vedaranyam Parameswaran. He comes across a bracelet of his friend and shows it to his sister and notes her chage of expression, both Rajini & Jayasudha goes to Vedaranyam. Rajini to work with Parameswaran & Jayasudha to gather info about her husband’s (Charan Raj) death.
Circumstances lead Jayasudha to fall a prey to a murder (as she suspects Parameswaran in Charan Raj’s death) and is arrested What is Thalaivar going to do is the last half an hour suspense.
TRIVA:
The film was a remake of the Kannada film Bombay Dada starring Tiger Prabhakar, Vani Vishwanath, Vajramuni and Lakshmi. Prabhakar, the director and hero of the Kannada film, portrayed the negative role in the Tamil version.
When the project was decided it was Rajini who suggested to remake Bombay Dada, Kannada Movie.
In this movie, Superstar Rajini was called "Mr.Right" and all his t.shirts in this movie had the "tick" symbol. There was a short sensation among Rajini fans during this time as they used to flock to the tailor shops to put a "tick" mark embroidary on their shirts.
Dance Master Lawrence danced with Rajini in Adi Jumpa Song
The film released to largely negative reviews and was a rare box office disaster for a Rajinikanth movie. After giving string of hits, this became one of his rare movies furing his period to fail at the box office.

During the making of this movie Kamala( wife of SPM died) Rajini asked to cancel the shoots but AVm Saravanan had a talk with distributors who said they would be at a loss if the movie did not release on Diwali. Saravanan revealed it to SPM who came for shooting the next day.
This movie’s Rajini’s police episodes were shot in Pondicherry. Huge Public crowds were watching the proceedings of shooting which astonished political parties who were watching Rajini’s movements those days with care.
Kushboo was introduced by SPM in Dharmathin Thalaivan. As a mark of respect she refused to negotiate salary hence AVM Saravanan enquired about her salary with various producers and SPM gave her salary that she was receiving those days( Token of gratitude)
Jayasudha made her comeback to Tamil Cinema after a gap of few years
This movie was released in Diwali 1992 along with Devar Magan.
When Rajini was to do a fim with AVm with a director other than SPM, AVm saravanan asked Rajini to first complete SPM movie and then Yejaman was started.

PLOT:
Raja( Rajini) and Babu (Prabhu) are two friends and petty criminals. They call themselves as Guru & Sisyan .
They end up in jail and come across an innocent man Manohar ('Mannvaasanai' Paandiyan) who tells them that his sister was raped by Muthuraaj (Radha Ravi) and who had killed a taxi driver (witness) with the help of foolish corrupt police officer Nallasivam (Vinu Chakravarthy) and pinned the murder on Manohar. Manohar is sentenced to death row for the killing by the court. Guru and Babu believe in Manohar's story and decide to find the truth and prove his innocence once they get out of jail. Guru fractures Manohar's hand so that his death sentence would be delayed, until it heals, under law. Guru and Babu get released from prison and set in motion an elaborate plan to find out the real killers.
Rajini hatches a plan along with Prabhu by which prabhu loves Seetha, daughter of Ravichandran ( Ravichandran is brother of Radharavi) . Rajini joins as henchman under Radharavi to find out evidence.
Along the way, Guru, who believed that his parents were murdered, finds out that they are in fact being held captive by Muthuraj's brother Rajamanickam(Ravichandran) who is trying to find the map to a treasure. The location of the map is know only to Guru's father who is suffering from memory loss and is tortured to make him remember it. Babu finds out that his parents were murdered by Rajamanickam (Ravichandran).
Guru and Babu help them find the treasure to free Guru's parents and Guru finds out that Manohar is his own brother. The ensuing fight at the treasure location, ends up with Muthuraj and his brother arrested by the police after Guru and Babu beat them up and the treasure cave collapses after Guru, Babu and Guru's family escape from it. Babu marries Muthuraj's nephew Chitra(Seetha) while Guru marries Nallasivam's daughter Gouthami and they live happily ever after.
TRIVA:
The film was a remake of Hindi film.
Panchu Arunachalam wanted to make a film with Rajini for a long time but could not do so because Rajini was too busy those days.
SPM suggested to do a movie for PA Arts
Rajini agreed to give 18 days call sheet for a guest role
SPm said no to guest role as distributors would bargain if Rajini appears in guest role & asked him for 21 days call sheet
SPM, Panchu, Prabbhu were doing Dharmathin thalaivan also at same time as the shoot was delayed this project started
This is the first movie for Gautami who later on starred in hit movies with Rajini like Panakaran, Dharmadurai, Raja Chinna Roja
Gautami could not match Rajini’s speed in Jingadi Jingadi song. Dance master Puliyur Saroja gave rehearsals for whole day and the song was shot in next day
As Seetha call sheet was available SPM requested Rajini to go to Chennai as his scenes was not canned today but Rajini came to shooting spot and worked with team helped in shooting such was the cooperation of the star.
The movie was complete in 21 days, Rajini’s portion in 18 days & ran for 100 days.

PLOT:
Balu (Rajinikanth), an absent minded lecturer in a college, and Sumathi (Suhasini) love each other and plan to marry soon. Balu lives with his younger brother, Raju (Prabhu), and Raju already calls Sumathi "Anni". Raju is a bad student and somewhat a rowdy, spoiled by Balu and Sumathi's pamperings. Raju keeps getting into fights with a fellow student (Nassar) and as a result keeps getting into trouble. When Balu comes to help Raju during one of those fights he is killed by Nassar. Sumathi goes into a trance, dons the garb of a widow and does not plan to marry again. Both Raju and Sumathi move to Bangalore.
Then one day a look-alike of Balu, named Shankar (Rajinikanth) enters Sumathi and Raju's life. Guilt-ridden Raju thinks that he has gotten his brother back, and tries to make amends .Shankar is a wanted criminal, and is looking for an escape route from the authorities. Shankar on knowing about Their past reforms and they decide to revamp the garage But Sumathi is kidnapped in order to force Shankar to aid a kingpin (Captain Raju) to smuggle diamonds.
With Raju's help, of course, good prevails over evil
In the end, Rajini marries Suhasiini and Prabhu marries Kushboo.
TRIVA:
The film was a remake of Hindi film Kamse Vada starring Amitabh Bachan but it is a serious film but here humour is too good
This film was done to bail out Devar films who was in financial crisis
It was Rajini who suggested Prabhu must have a fight sequence and Rajini gave instructions to fight in the scene , a nice fight scene indeed
