ON THE DEATH OF SIVAJI GANESAN
Eyes closed he sleeps serene,
its as if the sun itself has shut.
for god has written his final scene
and there is nobody to say CUT.
All across my youth,
my emotions he defined,
in per second 24 frames of truth,
all my choices he refined
He orchestrated my feelings
to suit his roles it seems,
when my passions he had reeling,
its like he invented my dreams.
In the arena of make-believe,
he was a star who set the pace,
and to laugh,to love,or to grieve,
the rest merely tried to mime his face.
His silence spoke in pages,
such eloquence his eyes stored,
when he stalked those screens n stages,
like a king this lion roared,
No betters his stature to match,
he was a leader by an unsaid law,
no equals his laurels to snatch,
no jealousies -but only AWE.
He played saints n brought them fame,
he played crooks n gave them charm,
he lent patriots acclaim,
even GODS he gave them form !!!!
A wizard he created a magic,
that was the toast of a generation whole
whether the heroic ,comic or tragic
mere tales he gave them soul.
Thus when a greatness passes on,
its but a single soul thats greived ,
but now that this actor has left and gone
its ike we are 300 times bereaved !!!!!
So a legend has spent his breath,
a titan fallen to that reaper grim,
but what's more cruel than that of his death ,
is that now there is nobody else to play him !
And though he has made his final bow,
can memory's curtains ever close??
for as long as theatre is a cinema show,
the legend of sivaji ganesan lives and grows.
