Ajith is next only to Rajini and Kamal :smokesmirk:
Ajith's Arrambam has turned out to be a box-office success not just in Tamil Nadu but also in overseas markets. In the USA, Arrambam is now the 5th biggest grosser among all Tamil films, just behind landmark films such as Enthiran (1.6 Million USD), Vishwaroopam (1 Million USD), Sivaji (600,000 USD) and Dasavatharam (500,000 USD).
As on Saturday, 9th November, Arrambam has grossed 369,150 USD (2.3 crores approx) from reported screens. Arrambam's US gross is higher than other recent biggies such as Thuppakki (364,000 USD), Thalaivaa (260,000 USD) and Singam 2.
In other overseas markets such as UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Australia, Arrambam has met with a similar grand welcome from the audiences.
Two legends are 60+. Our guys are around 40. Let us see what impact they will have at the BO when they reach that stage.

One guy whom I would love to see break Thaliavaar's record would be THIS MAN Slowly he is getting there. One good movie under little established director likes of anurag kashyap that will cement his position.
I am pretty sure it will happen, its only matter of time. :yessir:

Sam ajith innu name vachikittu vijay-fan irukureengale --I thought ur a ajithfan :)
Hopefully we get all the facts straight ... From what I've seen so far:
Malasia: Thupakki beats Arrambam
US: Arrambam beats Thupakki
UK: Arrambam beats Thupakki
Chennai: Thupakki beats Arrambam
Overall collection: Thupakki may have an edge so far but they may end up close to each other.

It will likely happen in few years from now. Now the market size of the tamil industry is about 1000C and about to grow 11% per annum as per deloitte's forecast. It means that in next 6 to 7 years the market size will be double (just apply the thumb rule of 72). When the industry has tremendous potential to grow and top heroes can grow easily faster than industry average by leveraging marketing, fan base, distributing in new geographies etc , it is achievable. My gut feeling is that the day is not far away from now.
That is why film collections are adjusted to inflation right? Atleast in hollywood?

Inflation does not account all the factors. Inflation mainly tells the story of purchasing power of money.....Population in cities due to urbanization, purchasing power and supply side of the economy has grown too outpaced the historical trend. Movies are easily accessible to everyone due to increase in number of shows, theaters, regulatory environment etc. By keeping all in mind, Can we compare movies released in different period? The different "period" is subjective when economy/industry is too hot. Before 90s, It took nearly decades to see the real change in a market place. Now the growth is so high that it's very difficult to do apples to apples comparison for movies that released even five years before
