Hi
I saw Manithnum Deivamagalam today. It was a fairly good movie with NT in Dual roles with extreme characters. Both NT are brothers . for Elder Nt Sowcar is the pair & usha Nandhini pairs for another NT
basic outline of the story:
In a village as usual a dharmahata is there and there is a Murugan temple and the priest there is NT ( Kumaraiah ). He has a brother , a child, wife. Lord Murugan speaks to him personally. Another Sivaji( sundaram) does not believe in God and returns from jail as he burnt Ramayanam.
Sundaram fights against evils of the society and falls in love with Usha Nandhini . In all circumstances Sundaram is framed of mistakes & is sent from home , he is given shelter b school master and his daughter. He becomes school master aand teaches in Government aided school. MRR vasu dharmahata snatches temole key from Kumaraih thereby Lord Muruga comes to Kumaraih house for poojai.
Sundaram fights with Dharmahata and gets back temple keys but dharmahata steals the jewels to frame Sundaram again but he could prove his charge but NT ancestors jewellery is unearthed. Kumaraih wants it for renovation of temple, Sundaram wants to use it for benefit of poor.
Sundaram challenges to Kumaraih if God comes before him or Temple's kalasam moves , he will use the jewels for God.
Whether God Comes, how is the treasure used, Whether the Brothers are united , Justification for title is to be watched , climax is scinillating .
Coming to Performance
1.Sivaji as a priest he is calm, composed often taken for granted by people in the village . He is extremely god fearing
2. Sivaji ( Brother)- character is more like MGR aims at reforming the society, too many political overtones ( Something unheard in Sivaji movies though it may be here & there but here it is full fledged)
3. Heroines - ok ( Not given much scope for performance)
4. MRR Vasu - Comical villan is apt
5. VKR has done a fairly good job
Supporitng cast helps in providing good support.

Thanks for a good analysis on "Manidhanum Deivamaagalam".
This film is a remake of 1969 Telugu Movie "Buthi Manthudu" played by Akkineni Nageswara Rao, in which Krishnama Raju acted as Villain.
Incidentally, I was talking to Mr. Murali on this movie yesterday only.
The film didn't fare well mainly due to 3 things. One, failing to catch up with the nativity; not a good musical score - here, it is Kunnakkudi Vaidyanathan - 3 songs for Sivaji were rendered by Sirgazhi Govindararajan, who has never been a right choice for NT for songs; and third, bad choice of heroines.

Paritchaiku Neramachu
My long chersihed dream is to watch the movie in DVD , I watched it in KTV some years back.
It is a faithful adaptation of UAA drama on the lines of Paar Magale paar, Gouravam, Vietnam Veedu etc.
NT ( Narasimachari ) is a staunch Iyenagar lives with his wife Sujatha, YG Mahendran ( Varadu Kutty). He is respected by all for his ideals, principles and tolerance towards other caste people.
But his son does not have idea of world thereby he is a ammanchi, lacks common sense but gold @ heart.
Venniradai Murthy(Rao), Manorama, Poornima Jayaram lives as a tenanat in Sivaji's house and there is a proposal to get Varadu married to Poornima.
Narashimachari is insulted when he instructs his son to bribe Thengai srinivasan to get Public service commission question paper thereby makes a oath to pass his son in First class.
Both Narasimachari & varadu toils day & night and prepares well for exam but fate kills varadu in an accident in front of exam hall.
Sujatha on hearing this is in coma but another Yg Mahendran (Anand) comes to his house when he is chased by people . Naramasimachari & rao pleads to stay in his home to cure Sujatha. As days rolls on Sujatha finds out that he is not his son & also bitter truth that Anand had killed his son Varadu and Narasimmachari also knows the truth but surprisingly adopts Anand as his son & again Anand appears for public service exam
What follows is a bitter anti climax
Credits & My analysis:
Sivaji- No wors to explain: Different from earlier brahmin getups Vietnam veedu, Gouravam. Heard that he had the punal till the shooting ended put by Muktha Srinivasan, director in Siva vishnu Temple .
Sankaracharya was awed by this dedication of NT.
Following scene is a testimony for his acting feat in this movie:
1.Where he kiks YG Mahendran when he goes to marriage hall & death house & blabbers therby bringing Problems to his house and his subsequent tears to God sure to move even a person with stone heart.
2. Fighting with Tengai Srinivasan & Sujatha for accusing his son as a fool
3. Controlling his temper his hands tremble, cheeks jump wow no wors to describe.
YG Mahendra - used both roles to maximum extent he could though he could have done better. Varadu was outstanding but not in case of Anand.
Manorama- lady Sivaji ( need any words?)
Sujatha - excellent acting by seasoned performer particularly in scene where he talks with irritated laughter to Gopalakrishan
Poornima- Ok
Veniradai Murthy was good but comedy track with Supini , Silk smitha dances could have been avoided ( Though showing silk as God fearing girl was a change)
Radharavi _ a cameo appearance
Thengai Srinivasan was apt & provided laughter along with Rajini
Gopalakrishnan was good in 2-3 scenes he appeared particularly in lunch scene
Music by MS Viswanathan - songs were poor
Lyric by Vaali
Screen play could have been better.
My verdict : Watch it for a different NT movie, YGM

MUTHUKULIKKA VAAREGALA
(unearthing the pearls from deep ocean of msv’s music)
This programme is about exploring and explaining the nuances of each
song composed by MSV and followed with the presentation of that song
in live orchestra. MSV used to say that the music is in the lyric and
the scene itself. As the scene, music and lyric are three different
form of arts he has conveyed a logical process through which he gets
the inspiration. We have identified a list of 30 songs and present
each song with approximately 2 to 3 minutes explanation which can be
easily understood by the audience without dwelling too much in to the
technical aspect.
We have the experience of conducting an earlier programme called
“Nathemenum Koilile” two years before in which we shared the musical
nuances of MSV’s composition with respect to the raga employed or how
we explored beyond the ragas for song composition.
The concept and execution of this programme is done by Mr. N Y Murali
with support from Mrs. M Malathi and Mr. Srikumar.
The programme will be presented on
Date – 13.05.2012 Sunday, 6.00 pm to 9.30 pm
Venue – Smt Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium, M Ct M High School,
Luz Church Road, Mylapore. (Near Alwarper Anjenayar Koil)
. The orchestra would be by Mr. Sai Kumar of Sai Sangeet Pragruth who
have done our programme 2 years before. They have conducted more than
800 light music programmes for the past 20 years.

Since Iam on holiday for 3 days Iam watching Sivaji movies most of which I have not seen earlier. I saw Mohanapunnagai, Hard to believe its in combo of NT & Sridhar.
Today morning I saw Mannavan Vanthanandi. Very good movie a kind of thriller in guessing whether NT is lunatic, Police officer well the suspense is revealed only through half way of the movie.
A visible diference is that the movie had too much of political overtones, taking a dig ministers,Govt officials.
In one particular scene where dharmaraja is to be arrested he asks 4 police minister Nagesh replies, Nt says that he is a good frieind of mine whom was he referring to M K or mgr since its 1975 it might be MK
NT in contrasting characters that too syle mannerisims of Rich mappilai is exceptionally good. Cigarette smoking scene is a class.
Nagesh thodhuvan scene brings the roof down in laughter
Also previous Sivaji movies like Parasakthi, Manohara, Raja, Sivakami in Selvan, Enga oor raja, Enga Thanga Raja is mentioned. Songs are fabulous.
Nambiyar is as usual majestic villan doing a apt job .

Most people don't like Dr. Siva , airanenjam but I like those movies . Dr Siva more stylish, elegant NT smoking pipe with a different hairstyle ( observe difference in smoking pipe in DR. Siva & Gauravam) his walk will be different in DR. Siva.
Also the current trend in fashion wearing wrist bands was done by NT in DR siva .
It was released on same day with vairanenjam
Vairanenjam was to be released in 1972 as hero 1972 but Sridhar made a movie with MGR & so Hero 72 was released as vairanenjam. Nt will make his presence after 1/2 an hour in the movie . he will come as smmuguler , gets down from the plane. NT was as cool as cucumber, calm, composed style, lean as in Raja.
The movie had thrilling elelements but things go hayware towards the end if screenplay would have been better it would have been another RAJA

Just watched "Sangili" and watching "Nermai".
"Sangili" is very thrilling and quite fast movie and one of the NT movie is very close to my heart as I used listen full audio of this movie almost every day by standing outside of Madurai Alankar theater and I could remember dialog of each scene.. I liked our NT and songs are very good.
I could remember I have watched "Sangili" in Madurai Alankar theater buying tickets in black and run for nearly 10 weeks in Madurai Alankar.
"Nermai" is some what quite slow but still storywise interesting and our NT acting simply superb.
Vasu sir, I become big big ardent FAN of NT after watching Santhippu and Sangili and hope of your returns soon.

I too liked Dr.Siva, a wonderful movie, it is based on a English Movie, Kramer Vs. Kramer, handled very nicely by Director Tirlokchander, People talk about 'Subtle' acting nowadays and our NT had given a lot of movies like that too, Variety is thy name, Great NT.Quote:

Dear ANM Sir,
Kramer vs Kramer was a film released a few years after Dr Siva (1975) i.e. 1979 or 1980. That's a different subject. The only similarity is the difference of opinion between the couple. Of course it fetched the best actress award for Meryl Streep.
