However the star had apprehensions about the few scenes since he felt that they may not be suitable for the liking of Tamil audience. Hence he politely refused the offer.
After that, Joseph narrated the script to Kamalhassan. The star who is currently busy shooting Viswaroopam 2, the sequel to his 2013 super hit film Viswaroopam is said to have liked the script and instantly gave the nod to star in it.
Joseph also said that, Kamal who is also a renowned script writer, has assured that he will make a few suitable changes in the script. Joseph ended his interview stating that he will sit with the multi-talented star and finalize the changes in the script very soon.

Ulaganayagan Padma Bhushan Kamal Haasan has always been lauded for his efforts to take Tamil cinema and Indian cinema to the next level, with his experimental attempts and daring films. He has been active in the industry for many decades as an actor, singer, director and producer. His knowledge of the other facets of film making is also astounding.
Kamal has also been at the forefront in choosing the right films to remake and present to his native Tamil audiences. Over the years, Kamal's remake films have all been mighty successful and have managed to replicate the impact and reach of the original films.

For kamal, Refusing to accept padma is not a huge issue - Kamal could have even refused privately and someone would have just leaked that out later.
The point that he is taken seriously enough to be expected to symbolically represent Thamizh Angst - is a measure of the respect that he has, is an implicit pointer. Most ppl miss it!

One such venture was Kamal's then ongoing "Maruthanaayagam" which had to be shelved - because French/british and American governments refused to clear any tie ups in production ventures in india, in any field.
Kamal gave so many acidic interviews against the Hindutva parivar at that juncture, and this forced him to make his classic anti-hindutva, with his unmistakable dravidianesque narrative, "Hey Ram" after Marudhanaayagam was dropped because of Pokhran Tests.
That Kamalhassan - now refuses to symbolize the tamil angst against congi sponsored Tamil genocide in eezham, and even refuses to give even a passing remark against the Koodankulam nuclear plant - being imposed upon TN people.
That's exactly why he has almost completely lost the Moral standing to "karuthu sollify" in any future discourses.
Kamal Haasan to do Drishyam`s Tamil version
Director Jeethu Joseph will direct the Tamil version of Drishyam,
produced under the banner of Suresh Balaji and George Pious`s Wide
Angle Creations, with Kamal Haasan playing the lead. The shooting of the
film has been scheduled to start during June this year.
Jeethu
Joseph said: "We just signed the film and I am back in Kochi after
meeting Kamal Haasan. The shoot will start in the second half of the
year and the rest of the cast and other details are being worked out."
Drishyam has been a
phenomenal success and is regarded as the highest grosser in Malayalam
ever. The Telugu version of the film is being made with Venkatesh in the
lead.
Jeethu had the option of directing the

As reported earlier, the script of the film will go in for minor changes suiting the taste and preferences of Tamil audience and Kamal himself will be discussing and finalising the changes along with the director. Since the star is busy with his commitments for the magnum opus VIswaroopam 2 and Uthama Villain the film to be produced by director Lingusamy and to be directed by his good friend and actor Ramesh Aravind, Drishyam in Tamil will go on floors only in the second half of this year.
Regarding the heroine of the film, sources close to the team say that Meena will be reprising the role played by herself in Malayalam. Meena's role in Dirshyam has been well appreciated by critics as well as fans and if she does the same in Tamil, it will be a worthy comeback for this actress referred fondly referred by Tamil audience as a woman with beautiful eyes.
Meena, who remained as one of the leading heroines in all the four industries of South Indian Cinema until the last decade paired up with Kamalhassan in only one film, which is Avvai Shanmugi directed by K.S.Ravikumar, that released in 1996. This apart, the actress has made a cameo appearance in Kamalhassan's 2001 super hit film Thenali, which was directed by Ravikumar again.

Trace circles also say that Drishyam Tamil remake with Kamalhassan's name, can be sold for an amount not less than rupees 30 crores in Tamilnadu alone and it is certainly a worthy deal for the makers.
