Its worth to recall that self proclaimed critics claimed TV is meant for A centre class audiences and Vedalam is a crass masala meant for B and C.

They both are DOCTORS. Both are image conscious. Would never come out without wig/dye and 100% makeup.
Promote their films by all possible means. They appear in almost all the top TV channels and travel to many cities in south India (not just TN) before their movie release.
They both wont shy away from praising anyone to gain an advantage.
Playing the "tamil" card, etc and many more similarities.
