'Kai koduththa Deivam' is one of my favourite NT's top ten movies and I'd like somebody write a different view on it; Long and detailed one. Every scene has NT's subtle and screen stealing performance. I especially like the scene when he comes to see a bride to be and finds out she was the girl he met already. And of course the heart wrenching last scene. It is one of those movies where casting was fantastic and every one did their roles very perfectly.

Thank you very much, Mr Murali. That was a fantastic analysis on 'Kai kodutha Deivam'. I've been reading the previous threads ramdomly and somehow I missed this one. You have pointed my favourite scene when NT comes to see Savithri without realising it was her. Savithri is descending the staircase while NT is looking up and the director cleverly shows both of their reactions in few quick shots, one after another. Eventually when NT realises it was her, he gets shocked and spills his coffee on his suit all over again!!

on 17-Jan-13, as I have habit of seeing the Jaya TV channel in the night after news, Thenkinnam, i tuned Jaya TV
then they showed some spl prog for birhday of their leader.
i changed another channel. to my surprise, when i again tuned to Jaya TV, nam kadavul Sivaji was speaking in a public function
at Salem to felicitate his annan MGR for getting award.
NT was praising his annan for his egai gunam and also mentioned both of them ate together(the famous dialogue).
After his speech, MGR mentioned NT's praises about him and thanked-though the voice was not clear.

திரும்பி கை கொடுத்த தெய்வம் விமரிசனம் படித்தேன். மிக மிக அருமை. ரொம்ப ரசித்தேன்.

உண்மையாகவே, கே.எஸ்.ஜி யின் திரைகதையிலேயே மிக மிக flawed அண்ட் skewed என்று சொல்லும் வகையில் , எப்படி திரைகதை அமைய கூடாது என்று சொல்லும் வகையில் அமைந்த ஒன்று இந்த படம்.. (அருமையான திரைக்கதை சாரதா,கற்பகம், கண்கண்ட தெய்வம்,பணமா பாசமா). ஒரு confused ஆன, purposeless ஆக, relationship establish ஆகாமலே, எல்லா பாத்திரங்களும் ஒருவர் மேல் ஒருவர் அதீத அன்பை தெளித்து ,நம்மை திக்கு முக்கு ஆட வைப்பார்கள்.

ஆனால், இந்த பெரிய ஓட்டை கப்பலை, மிக மிக பாதுகாப்பாக மறு கரைக்கு வெற்றிகரமாக அழைத்து சென்ற புண்ணியவான்கள், நமது நடிப்பு கடவுள், சாவித்திரி, கே.எஸ்.ஜி யின் அற்புதமான ,sharp அண்ட் lively வசனங்கள். பங்கு பெற்ற அனைவரும்(முக்கியமாய் எஸ்.எஸ்.ஆர்.). காமெடி track இல்லாத குறையை, NT (எப்பா இப்பிடி கொஞ்சம் திரும்பு, சப்பாத்தி),M .R .ராதா நிவர்த்தி செய்து விடுவார்களே?

மிக மிக வெற்றி அடைந்த காவியம், கே.எஸ்.ஜி படங்களிலேயே best என்று தங்களை சொல்ல வைத்தவை மேற்கண்ட விஷயங்களே. கர்ணனின், real feel lighting and camera (சில இடங்களில் candid effect இருக்கும்) மிக மிக plus . பாடல்கள்(சாரதா, கற்பகம் இவற்றோடு ஒப்பிட்டால்.)படு சுமார்.சிந்து நதி யின் மிசை பாரதி, NT யால் பிழைத்தது. ஆயிரத்தில் ஒருத்தியம்மா situation ,NT யின் பாவம் ,bodylanguage (வேட்டியை டப்பா கட்டு கட்டும் தஞ்சாவூர் பாணி) ஆகியவற்றால் பிழைத்தது. கே.வீ. மகாதேவனுக்கு(K.S.G's usual choice) கிடைத்திருந்தால் நிச்சயம் silver jubilee கண்டிருக்க வேண்டிய படம். மிக மிக உயர்தர எண்ண எழுச்சிகளால், நட்பின் உயர்வு ,மனித நேயத்திற்கு உதாரணம் இந்த அற்புத காவியம்.

Your points on Kaikodutha Dheivam are very nice. Some of them are acceptable.

But I am not able to understand why you mostly cornering MSV's music. I think you are the only one, who criticised MSV's tune on 'Sindhu nadhiyinmisai'. It was already written poem by Bharathi and MSV-TKR compossed very apt tune for that without damaging the lines. Insertion of Telugu song inbetween is nice to hear. I always feel pleasure when hearing the interlude, before starting the lines 'singala teevinirkor paalam amaippom'. You have praised the songs of in movies sarada and karpagam. But Karpagam was music by MSV-TKR and KSG's Chithi was by MSV alone, after parting from TKR.

Not able to accept if music done by KVM for KKD, it will becom a silver jubilee. If so, why not for Selvam and Pesum Dheivam?. (Those, who are talking about over acting should watch SSR's over acting in the song 'aayirathil oruthiyamma nee').

pesum deivam ,selvam- despite of excellent music, They don't have the strong content and lacked connectivity with audience. In my humble opinion,selvam deserves much more acclaim than what it actually received. Dont forget, panama pasama, adhi parasakthi became super duper hits because of strong music content.I am a greater fan of M.S.V-T.K.R than all of you put together, but I criticise only mediocre works done by them. See my review on Ethiroli. KVM met with same fate. Sindhu nadhiyin misai is OK but not in the same class of unakkaagavaa in selvam,mannavane in Karpagam, mella mella, thattu thadumari in Saratha.
