u mean for acting in that role?
there is no second thoughts and shankar himself had stated that he made the story for rajini and rajini avoided acting in it as it would create unnecessary stir as the movie is having a strong political tone.
nevertheless, its a costly costly miss.

I heard a similar story regarding Indian, and appearently Shankar had Rajni in mind before Kamal, but avoided Rajni fearing that Rajni fanatics would kill all their sons if they take bribe to do something!
