Mr Vivek never had any originality since he started his acting career. He just imitated KA Thangavelu and MR Radha and of course Surulirajan in one film. Should we give importance to this lesser known 'comedian'? Ignore him. He is now totally out of market and he has to do something to retain his stand in films. No other go except to imitate NT!

Raaja Raaja Cholan could have been produced in a different way but within his limited financial commitments APN could do justice only to the storyline that had greater acting scope for NT to depict the emperor before our eyes as he did for Karnan or VPKB or VOC. What is overacting?! In real life no one can simultaneously beat 10 physically strong hooligans after getting a third punch that brings out blood from mouth, and smashing them that too by flying and revolving legs! Then that is also overacting. All song sequences in films are overacting. All dances are overacting. All gunshots are overacting. All cowboys and james bonds are overacting.....

"THANGA SURANGAM" (28.03.1969 - 28.03.2013)

The first BOND movie of our Nadigarthilagam. The third colour movie in social themes of NT.

No doubt Thanga Surangam featured a slim Bond like NT. But the movie was a loose adaptation of Silencers starring Dean Martin to make a parody of Sean Connery's James Bond! Mixing sentiments in such movies sometimes may not yield the expected result!

இளைத்த திராவிட மன்மதனின் இரண்டாவது சமூக வர்ண படம்(நான்கரை வருடங்கள் கழித்து புதிய பறவைக்கு பிறகு. தில்லானா ,புராண படங்கள் தவிர்த்து). jamesbond ஆக தயங்கிய NT ஐ convince பண்ணி, காலம் மாறுது என்று ராமண்ணா (குமரி பெண்,நான்,மூன்றெழுத்து போன்ற வெற்றிகளில் திளைத்த நேரம்)எடுத்த படம்.

நடிகர்திலகம் ,பாரதி ஜோடி இன்னும் என் கண்ணுக்குள்ளேயே நிற்கிறது.(திருடன்,ராஜா போன்ற படங்களில் இந்த ஜோடி நடித்திருந்தால்!!!).நடிகர்திலகம் அழகுன்னா அவ்வளவு அழகு. உடைகள் தேர்வு கன கச்சிதம்.(சந்தன குடத்துக்குள்ளே பாட்டிற்கு ,நான் பிறந்த நாட்டின் உடைகளை தந்திருக்கலாம்). NT படு cute ஆக பண்ணியிருப்பார். hotel அறையில் பாரதியுடன் முதல் சந்திப்பு, கட்டழகு பாப்பா, பாரதி-நிர்மலாவை கலாய்ப்பது,ஷேக் மின்கி ட்விஸ்ட் வகையறா நடன அமர்க்களம்(புஷ் குல்லா,கண்ணாடி யுடன்),சண்டை காட்சிகள், சந்தன குடத்துக்குள்ளே(திரும்பி வரும் bucket ஐ style ஆக உதைத்து திருப்பும் அழகு!!), என்று அசத்தியிருப்பார்.

ஆனாலும் ராஜா மூன்று வருடங்கள் கழித்து வந்து பெற்ற மாபெரும் வெற்றியை எட்டாமல் சுமாரான வெற்றியை பெற்ற காரணங்கள்-(என் சிற்றறிவுக்கு எட்டிய வரை)

T .N .பாலுவை போடாமல் சக்தி கிருஷ்ணசாமியை வசனத்திற்கு போட்டது.(விஜயலலிதாவை விட்டு புஷ்பலதாவை பளிங்கினால் ஒரு மாளிகை பாட்டிற்கு ஆட வைத்தது போன்றது)

இசைக்கு வேதாவை போட்டிருக்கலாம். நான் பிறந்த நாட்டிற்கு, சக்தி தன்னாடு பாடல்களுக்கு பதிலாக நிர்மலாவுடன் ஒரு கனவு பாடல்,பாரதியுடன் ஒரு erotic duet வைத்திருக்கலாம்.(சிவாஜி நன்றாக விளையாடி இருக்க வேண்டும்)

விஜயஸ்ரீ, ஜெயகுமாரி முதலியவர்களுடன் ஒரு கவர்ச்சி நடனம்.(jamesbond feel வரும்படி)

O .A .K .தேவர் உறுத்தல்.(மணி பயல்) நம்பியார் , மனோகர் போதும். jamebond அப்பாவையே வில்லனாக்கி இருப்பது தேவையற்ற வேலை.(தண்ணி பாம்பை பிடிக்க மகுடி ஊதி கொண்டிருப்பது போன்ற feeling )

ஆரம்பத்தில் ,jamesbond feel வரும் படி காட்சிகளை அமைக்காதது பெரும் குறை. sentiment தேவையே இல்லாதது. ஐம்பது வயதுக்கு மேற்பட்ட நடிக-நடிகைகளை உபயோகித்திருக்கவே கூடாது.(பாரதி அப்பா OK ).

விறு விறுவென்று ராமண்ணா-பாலு பாணியில் திரைகதை அமைத்திருக்க வேண்டும் .

நல்ல வேளை "பெற்ற மனம் பதையுதே,பேதை மனம் அலையுதே" பாட்டை அவர்களாகவே மனமுவந்து cut பண்ணியதற்கு ,நம் ரசிகர்களின் முற்பிறவி புண்ணியம் துணை நின்றிருக்கிறது.

அவன்தான் மனிதன் கதாநாயகன் போல் உறவே இல்லாத அனாதையாய் இந்த jamesbond துறு துறு வென்று வந்திருந்தால் , இந்த படம் collection இல் உச்சம் தொட்டிருக்கும்.

மேற்கண்ட சமீபத்திய jamesbond படங்கள் பயங்கர sentiment touches உடன் தங்கச்சுரங்கம் பாணியில் வெளியாகி உலக அளவில் வெற்றியும் பெரும் அதிசயத்தை என்ன சொல்ல?

In a james bond film, as conceptualized by Sean Connery era, sentiments are odd elements that spoil the mood of watching a Bond movie, as many ardent fans of Connery/Bond all over the world feel. Except Casino Royale, the other two recent Bond movies released in India were utter flops. Casino Royale too in many frames lacked the feel of a Bond Movie particularly when Daniel Craig was showing over emotions in climax! Skyfall is the best example of how a james bond movie should not be made! the data on collections are different due to wide world market and DVD sales etc., which were not in the earlier days.OK. Gopal Sir, this is not a thread for Bond but I am also of your opinion that Thanga Surangam could not get the expected success due to many reasons, one of which is the mixing of sentiments that confused the audience whether NT was rightly guided to enact a Bond role or a realistic officer get caught in the web of sentiments. The bitter truth is that NT got shaken and stirred in enacting his role in this movie! The image of Bond warrants action sequences not acting sequences as in the climax of Thanga Surangam where NT receives bullets on selected joint points on his body and shows his expressions of pains against sentimental feelings for his father who bumps the bullets! Kindly watch the movie "The Silencers" starring Dean Martin to understand how this masala mix was prepared by Ramanna only to spoil the sauce!

Mr. Gopal sir,

Your view is correct. Most of the fans think the same. (Ramanna should not mix the sentiments for a bond movie).

'Sakthi thannaadu' song should be avoided, but 'naan pirandha nattukendha naadu' is a nice one with wonderful picturisation. Last song for NT and Bharathi in ooty grden is an excellent one, but did not hit.

'vaira viyaabaari' get up scene of NT and Nagesh is a bore one, it took long time also that too with telugu dialogues. (same like Nagaiya episode in Raja).

Race course scene is nice with smart NT with blue half slack and sunglass.

O.A.K.Thevar is a bore villain. His pronounciation of 'Mr.Rajan' is sema kaduppu. There must be Nambiar, and he should not be the father of NT.

As you told, V.A.Nirmala should dream a duet song with NT. and one more real duet should be with Bharathi.

Major as usual, talking in English and suddenly translate to Tamil ('Kamatchi ammavai kaidhi seyya unga permission venum'... "Mr Rajan, are you a mad?. ungalukkenna paiththiyamaa?")

ஆதி ராம் சார்,

நான் பிறந்த நாட்டுக்கு நல்ல பாட்டு. படத்தோட tone ,texture ,content க்கு பொருந்தவில்லை. தங்க சுரங்கத்தின் குறையே முதல் 30 நிமிடங்கள் jamesbond பட feel வரவே வராது. எல்லோரிடமும் தான் CBI என்று சொல்லி கை குலுக்கி கொண்டிருப்பதை தவிர.

நம் தமிழ் பட(இந்திய பட) cliche விலிருந்து NT சில விஷயங்களில் விடு படவில்லை. எங்காவது தகவல் ஒற்றறிய ,மாறு வேடத்தில் செல்லும் போது , அமெரிக்கையாக நடந்து கவன ஈர்ப்பை தவித்து எச்சரிக்கையாக இருப்பதற்கு பதில், அதிக பட்ச கோமாளி தனம் செய்து,(நகைச்சுவையும் இருந்து தொலையாது) எதிரிக்கும் சுலபமாக புரியும் கவன ஈர்ப்பை கோரி , பார்வையாளர்களை irritate செய்வார்கள்.(மரகதம்,குங்குமம்,ஆரம்பித்து வெற்றிக்கு ஒருவன் வரை NT படங்களிலும் இது உண்டு)

67 இலிருந்து 70 வரை, தயாரிப்பாளர்களுக்கு, இயக்குனர்களுக்கு ஒரு குழப்பம் தொடர்ந்தது. 61-65 வசதியான மேட்டு குடி அம்மா அப்பாக்களிடம் இருந்து NT fanbase C centre களுக்கு பரவி, கல்லூரி மாணவ-மாணவிகளுடன் பரவி விட்டதை அறியாமல்,குழப்பமாகவே படம் எடுத்து கொண்டிருந்தனர்.இல்லையானால்,ஒரு வசந்த மாளிகை,ஒரு ராஜா,ஒரு பட்டிக்காடா பட்டணமா,ஒரு சிவந்த மண் நமக்கு 67,68 லேயே கிடைத்திருக்க முடியும். பாலாஜிக்கு நன்றி.தங்கையின் மூலம் ஓரளவு அந்த பணியை செய்ததற்கு.
