Great song, Ramky. This is one of the old classics. I remember watching the movie a long long time ago. Vaali's lyrics described what society (at least the male half of society) felt was the "perfect" wife those days! It was very well written and set to music to match the situation in the movie. If I remember correctly, the couple had to deal with a lot of day-to-day problems; one of the major reasons being the man's inferiority complex. But for the outside world, they looked like the ideal couple.

The other song in the movie, "paramasivan kazhuththil irindhu paampu kEttadhu..." written by Kannadasan, described the other side of the coin. Kannadasan himself was shown to sing the song on stage (of course in the real voice of TMS).

This is my tribute to actress Manjula who passed away yesterday.
The song is from the movie MARUPIRAVI, which was a remake of PUNARJANMAM (Malayalam).
To the best of my memory, this is the first Manjula movie that I have seen!

In memory of Manjula :

Oruvar Meethu Oruvar Saainthu from NINAITHATHAI MUDIPPAVAN (1975) featuring Makkal Thilagam MGR and Manjula. This is one of my favorite songs of the 1970's and is nostalgic for me since I was studying in school when this film was released, and I had watched it in the cinema hall. Many pleasant childhood memories are intertwined with the songs of this film.

Music is by M.S.Viswanathan, lyrics by Vaalee, and singers are T.M.Soundararajan, P.Susheela.

Another favorite song of mine from the 1970's is one featuring Nadigar Thilagam Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan and Manjula, Malare Kurinji Malare from DR.SIVA (1975). Music is by M.S.Viswanathan, lyrics by Vaalee, and singers are K.J.Yesudas, S.Janaki.

There were reports in Tamil media that yesteryear actress Kanaka passed away in Kerala, today, (July 30). It was reported that she was suffering from cancer from past seven months and she was under palliative care in Alappuzha, Kerala. Now, it has been confirmed by our source that she is alive. It was reported that the hospital sources said that Kanaka was not showing any interest and denied meeting anyone. Kanaka was diagnosed with cancer in early January this year.
