I share most of your thoughts. But i think Anirudh has a sizable reach among today's school/college goers. He does. My better half talks non-stop (as always) about how Anirudh's Vannakam Chennai songs are the toast of today's young girls/her friends. He is almost cult there, in other words, as Nov Anna says, a Prodigy.

He is 3 movies old and has achieved decent success with all 3.

Regarding Kolaveri, i enjoyed hearing it when it hit Youtube. Something clicked with that song. The success worldwide is beyond debate. Justified or not, we will never know.

Too early to celebrate or complain about Anirudh. He has had a great start though.
