They never confirmed it as Thuppaki 2, it is fresh script n no doubt in it.

Off late Mumbai has been playing host to some of the biggest Tamil films including the massive hit Thuppakki. Now, for the upcoming partnership of Vijay and A.R.Murugadoss in 2014 the action looks to be shifting to a new city.
Sources tell Behindwoods that A.R.Murugadoss and his team are currently in the City of Joy, Kolkata, scouting locations for what appears to be the Vijay project that’s aiming to take off in early 2014. While this may not be the first instance of a Tamil film being shot in the bustling streets of Kolkata - films like Aadhavan, Majnu and Jay Jay had sequences based in the very same city, but one can expect Murugadoss to show the place in a completely different light.
A.R.Murugadoss will be employing the services of the highly acclaimed young cinematographer George C Williams for this venture and will also be teaming up with a certain other young sensation, Anirudh, for the music making this one of the most eagerly anticipated projects of the coming year
Apparently, shooting starts from Feb for a Deepavali 2014 release.
Diwali 2014 would be awesome, but i doubt it.
If i am not wrong, Thuppakki began in late Nove 2011 for Diwali 2012 right? Correct me if i am wrong.
Also the hindi version of Thuppakki is only scheduled for a Summar 2014 release right?

Vijay has a poor "2nd film with a director" sentiment........ IIRC, Except Siddique and to a lesser extent Perarasu, directors while working with Vijay for 2nd time had mostly faltered (either totally or at least in box office)......... Kannukkul nilavu (though I liked this one) after Kadhalukku mariyadhai, Aadhi after thirumalai, villu after pokkiri, kuruvi after ghilli, Vaseegara (most favorite vijay film though it bombed at BO) after ninaithen vanthaai, Youth after Priyamudan and so on..... hopefully VJ will be able to break this sentiment this time..........

Its the other way I think Vishal booked HARI....as its Vishual's own production..Hari already booked vishal for his next aruva movie ......
