Lal has of course contributed to the business in Kerala. The result in Kerala would have been no different even otherwise. But Lal's contribution is only to increase the margin and not the result itself. This Rajini scenario that you are mentioning is a double edged sword. Lal's role in the film is almost that of the antagonist. If Rajini is shown biting the dust in a Telugu film to Mahesh Babu I do not understand how the TN fans would have appreciated it. In fact Jilla only firmly establishes Vijay's supremacy in Kerala as it does not seem that the Keralites have taken great dislike to the fact of Vijay winning over their own superstar in the film.
