அமெரிக்க ஜனாதிபதியாக கென்னடி இருந்தபோது (1962_ல்) அமெரிக்கக் குழந்தைகளுக்கு யானைக்குட்டி ஒன்றை சிவாஜி கணேசன் பரிசாக வழங்கினார். அமெரிக்காவில், இந்தியானா பொலிஸ் என்ற இடத்தில் உள்ள பூங்காவுக்கு அந்த யானைக்குட்டி அனுப்பப்பட்டது.
இதுபற்றி தகவல் தெரிந்ததும், சிவாஜிகணேசன் பற்றிய விவரங்களை கென்னடி விசாரித்தார். சென்னையில் உள்ள அமெரிக்கத் தூதரகம், சிவாஜி பற்றிய முழு விவரங்களையும் அமெரிக்காவுக்கு அனுப்பி வைத்தது. அவற்றைப் படித்துப் பார்த்த கென்னடி, கலாசார பரிமாற்ற திட்டத்தின் கீழ், சிவாஜிகணேசனை அமெரிக்க அரசின் விருந்தினராக அமெரிக்காவில் சுற்றுப்பயணம் செய்வதற்கு அழைக்குமாறு அதிகாரிகளுக்கு கட்டளையிட்டார். அதன்படி சிவாஜிக்கு அழைப்பு வந்தது.
இந்தியாவில் இருந்து நடிகர் ஒருவர் அமெரிக்காவுக்கு அழைக்கப்பட்டது அதுவே முதல் தடவை. அப்போது "உலகின் தலைசிறந்த நடிகர்" என்று அழைக்கப்பட்ட மார்லன் பிராண்டோவுக்கும் , நடிகர் திலகத்துக்கும் இடையேயான சந்திப்பு நிகழ்ந்தது.
அமெரிக்க சுற்றுப்பயணத்தை முடித்துக் கொண்டு சென்னை திரும்பிய சிவாஜி கணேசனை எம்.ஜி.ஆர். மாலை அணிவித்து வரவேற்றார். விமான நிலையத்தில் இருந்து சிவாஜியை நடிகர்_நடிகைகள் ஊர்வலமாக அழைத்துச்சென்றனர்.

It was during that Marlon Brando and Nadigar Thilagam meeting - Mr. Brando said he had seen many indian films directed by Mr.Sathyajithrey,they are nice and further said, he felt sad when he used to see the Slums in India and its poverty.
Nadigar Thilagam immediately reacted to that statement and informed Mr.Brando that, what he had seen is not the real INDIA, and told him that an average indian woman has atleast 10 soverign of gold with her given during the marriage and if it is multiplied with the total woman population, the wealth of India can feed countries like America or UK for years...!
Now, the most important aspect of the meeting :
Mr.Brando was shown the footage of Nadigar Thilagam films .....Mr.Brando observed the same with a pin drop silence.
He was silent for few minutes even after the entire footage was completed...nobody was able to make out why Mr.Brando remained silent..including Nadigar Thilagam.
The press asked Mr.Brando about the meeting and enquired about the footages and Mr.Brando's opinion about the man from India.
This is what Mr. Brando had to say !
" Mr.Shiv is an excellent performer with class and clarity. He can bring out what I have done in entirety But I cannot do so ! Had he been here, I would have probably lost my business ! in a lighter vein and smiled !

The same was reciprocated exactly 10 years later by our own Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan when Mr.MGR was adjudged and given Bharath Award.
Nadigar Thilagam felicitated Mr.MGR for his achievement.
Inshort, both of them have acknowledged each other and have that love and affection towards each other even though professionally they were competing and politically supported different parties.
Not sure, if this would happen with any other actors who had similar instincts..!
