RR: There was a discussion in the old hub about Nalinakanthi/Tilak Kamod where the claimed the equivalence ! That was more than 10 years back around the time I came to know about this hub. If you can find that thread and post your comment we can see how they respond. May be it is another case of 'manasuloni' and 'samaja vara gamana'being classified under Hindholam even though they sound different (due to a change in one note) . I think they have renamed the scale for 'manasuloni' as Varamu, yet to be accepted by all!

In fact, one of my friends who knows ragas in both systems told me about the equivalence/similarity about 30 years back. If I meet him I will ask him about the ragas!

Raj, that's what the 'textbooks' say but I can't see how nalinakanthi and tilak kamod are similar. To me, each have key signatures that put them worlds apart. I am all ears if you can explain..
