Vairamuthu’s lyrics and the way SPB and SJ render the lines add to the total charm of the song; blending in almost like a part of the rhythm section of Raja’s orchestration!

நான் மதுரையில் ஒரு கிளின்க்கில் வேலை பார்த்த சமயம். என் கிளினிக் குட் ஷெட்தெருவில் சேதுபதி ஹை ஸ்க்கூளுக்கு எதிரில். கிளினிக் நடுவில் பிரித்து மிக பெரிய உயரமான சுவர். ஒரு நாள் அந்த பக்கம் இருந்து இந்த பாடல்...... யார் பாடியது என்று தெரியாவிட்டாலும் மிக மிக அருமையான குரல். பின்னணி இசை இல்லாமல் SPBயே பாடியது போல் இருந்தது. என்னிடம் வேலை பார்த்த பெண்ணிடம் "அந்த பக்கம் என்ன இருக்குது என்று கேட்க கார் ஷெட் இருக்கு அம்மா, என்றாள். இன்று திறமையானவர்களை ஊக்குவிக்க "சூப்பர் சிங்கர்" போன்ற பல நிகழ்சிகள் உண்டு. அப்போ அந்த வசதி எல்லாம் கிடையாது. சான்ஸ் கிடைத்து இருந்தால் அவனும் மிகப் பெரிய பாடகனா ஆகி இருக்க கூடும். காலத்தால் அழியாத/ அழிக்க முடியாத பாடல்கள் என்று ஒரு லிஸ்ட் போட்டால் ..........அந்த லிஸ்ட் முடிவே இல்லாமல் நீண்டு கொண்டே போகும் என்பது நிச்சயம். அருமையான இசை, இளம் SPB குரல்...

My list of favorite tfm songs would always include the songs in இளம் SPB குரல்; like "ஆயிரம் நிலவே வா...", "மல்லிகப் பூ வாங்கி வந்தேன்...", "இயற்கை என்றும் இளைய கன்னி..." and of course "பொட்டு வைத்த முகமோ..."!

Another early Raja/SPB collaboration. Simple, but elegant composition with pleasant beats. Haven't heard this one before. Thank you for posting it!

There was a time, long ago, that I used to think all good lyrics in TFM (especially in சிவாஜி movies) were written by கண்ணதாசன். In later years, I came to realize that many of my favorites were in fact penned by வாலி . Needless to say, வெள்ளிக் கிண்ணம் தான்... is one of them.
