And the great danger at this point of the story is the temptation to make hasty reconstructions by piercing together fragments from literature and epigraphy which at first blush seem to have a connection with one another , but on closer scrutiny fail to support the super structure they have been made to bear. Great impediments to a proper understanding to records result sometimes from change suggestions thrown out by authorative scholars which is often repeated by their followers without the reservations with which they were originally given and occasionally even palable errors are handed down as Gospels.
